  4. ....."And I'm not surprised either. After all, a rat barely measures 12 inches from head to tail - hardly impressive " said Laxette. "Now the Bandit, he measures 12 inches from....."
  5. The Rat Puppet Master, or Turbo Charged Wiener Schnitzel as he is known behind his back, soon tired of pulling the Rat's worn strings, and set his sights on the Bandit. "About 12 inches should be ample..." he mused to himself, as he unreeled his.....

  12. But are they available through FOI? In which case, why isn't RA-Aus more proactive and make them downloadable in PDF through their website at least?
  13. Do they not provide a copy of the annual report for each member yearly? Surely something like that should be in the magazine..... Or is this something that the members need to request specifically?
  14. .....day as they feast on the carcasses of once registered ultralights. However, they did not count on the might of McAndy, son of Icarus and champion of the coffee stained constitution. With a puff of his breath, McAndy......
  15. Now that raises another question. To what extent has RA-Aus made reasonable efforts to ensure that all of those whose registrations have not yet been processed are aware that the are not yet able to fly? Joe Bloggs lives in outback Queensland, has no internet and has been a member for years. Every year he has posted in his renewal, and every year it has taken quite some time to come back due to slow postal services. So he keeps flying, blissfully unaware, thinking the paperwork will turn up eventually. What has been done exactly to ensure that all members are aware that if your registration has been delayed, you must not fly?
  16. All you can do is acknowledge the limitations of the sample Andy. If you can't access more accurate information direct from the source (and as members you should be able to), then you just have to accept a biased sample. But....that absolutely does not mean that the sample is overrepresentative. It could just as easily be underrepresentative and there could be more unregistered aircraft out there. There could be equally a number of people looking to make it worse by stating that their aircraft is unregistered (when they don't even own one!) or others that are bumping it up the other way for their own purposes. Just acknowledge the limitations and describe it as an indication of the extent of the problem.
  17. I think the option of a second organisation needs to be discussed. There are many who just don't care as long as they get to fly (although that has been threatened lately). There are a number who are keen to fix what is there, and that is a very admirable position to take. However, I'm sure there are a number who are past believing that the situation can be fixed, or who just aren't prepared to trust RA-Aus again. Turbs, you yourself made your position quite clear when you mentioned that you had not continued your membership and I am sure there will be others who will choose that if it is a viable option for them. But an alternative is never a bad option to have.
  18. I too have noticed that this thread and others related have had the effect of bringing an awful lot of people out of lurking to post their opinion, and quite a number who have been members sometimes for a couple of years here and have little or no posts. So obviously what is happening is being absorbed by many more than just those who use the forum, and we can only hope that there may be a slight lift in the level of apathy out there. It's remarkable to think that with more transparency and communication that is likely that things could never have got to this stage. Hopefully those that follow in the management side of RA-Aus will heed that lesson.
  19. Hadn't you heard Turbz? The ponies got what was coming to them - they had been bringing the club into disrepute, and even crapping all over the place......
  20. He's doing it again Pud - I suspect you need to type in CAPITALS so that Ian gets the impression that you are shouting at him and are serious.....
  21. Bandit12

    New CEO

Someone with administration skills and the ability to troubleshoot a mess and come up with solutions is what is needed. One of my family members has done just that as COO of several large companies in the food industry, and he has no tertiary qualifications and didn't even finish high school. But that said, don't discount the people who have an alphabet after their name either - in my experience there are incompetents at all levels of education and experience.
  22. Perfect - the easier you make things, the more likely people are to follow through.
  23. Maybe attach a form letter Andy, to make it easier for those who don/t/can't take the time to write their own?
  24. Also, without trying to be smug - I have been watching RA-Aus for the last couple of years and have been very unimpressed. I started with the AUF for my first few hours before switching to GA, and nothing I have seen is encouraging me to join. And I really would like to. 95.10 has interested me for quite some time but until the dust settles, it is hard to be convinced to spend the dollars.
  25. But you will be exposed to a little jealousy if you tell us that you fly Lear jets! Welcome to the forum.
