  1. may's right ankle is dislocated!
  2. What if you run out of reading material first?
  3. is there any available? other than walking into town with a jerry can, of course.
  4. that'd be plus import costs, though, right? can you use a CS prop on these? they'd seem to be the answer to getting nice cruise and climb out of the same plane.
  5. the other day I had the problem of not understanding a parachute drop call. thankfully I was nowhere near them. it was when they were on the ground that I realised what the call was about.
  6. right, but having 60 knots to convert (120 to 60) and a 20knot tailwind brings it down to 18:1.
  7. it's 4nm from the closest point. so you need 48:1 glide ratio if you have no speed to convert and no tail-wind. I think it's actually doable.
  8. the last time I was at the oaks, there were two school teachers there!
  9. Tat is september 2012 not 12 september 2011. So carol's seat is up for immediate election.
  10. how about a lazair with an engine down in victor one? yssy is the only realistic airport option there.
  11. if you are flying certain segments of victor one at 120kt, have a Vbg of 60kt with a glide ratio of 18:1 and a 20kt soueasterly, you will make 34R. I think.
  12. does the octane number not accurately reflect antiknock characteristics? ie is 98PULP not about the same as 100LL?
  13. congratulations! it's always the way that places are 27nm away )-:
  14. how about a men's program that isn't about flying then? or is equality (or the semblance thereof) dead in the raa world?
  15. Why is there a "women's program" that isn't about flying?
  16. mine got cancelled today too. was hoping to do a NAVEX. oh well. next friday.
  17. From the new 95.55: For the purposes of sub-subparagraph 1.2 (f) (iv), the minimum useful load for an aeroplane is: (a) if the aeroplane’s engine power is rated in kilowatts — the amount in kilograms worked out in accordance with the formula: (80 x S) + 0.3P; or (b) if the aeroplane’s engine power is rated in brake horse power — the amount in pounds worked out in accordance with the formula: (175 x S) + 0.5P where: S is the number of seats in the aeroplane; and P is the aeroplane’s rated engine power.
  18. I didn't go to natfly, primarily because my dog's shots weren't up to date so I couldn't put her in a kennel, but: the idea of a "Ladies" program is a complete turnoff. it promotes an idea of recreational aviation being for a certain type of person with certain bits and certain other people with certain other bits are to do crochet or mug painting or whatever. not the image you want to promote, especially for people who may be bringing their daughters.
  19. There is a trike school at somersby, I believe. Driving past on the freeway yesterday, somersby is 9 minutes closer to sydney than warnervale. I've never flown into somersby but from google maps it seems both can be found using IFR (the RAA sort!)
  20. carl: nonetheless. if you can fly it, you can log it. if you're flying illegally, otoh....
  21. If you can fly it, you can log it.
  22. forgot about that one! short taxi to ourimbah train station.
  23. Strips around sydney are: - Bankstown (GA only) - Camden (GA only) - The Oaks - Warnervale I'd say warnervale is about the same driving distance (1 hr) to north sydney as the oaks. quick taxi to the train station and a pretty cheap train into town ($11 return or $8 one way).
  24. Ian, do the current ones come with gel ear seals?
