  1. Yeah mainly an issue in the Gazelle with 2 fatties on board lol
  2. I did most of my training at a airfield with a runway that points out to sea, I was taught to begin the turn on to crosswind early (only on this runway) so as not to fly too far out to sea. So really a question staying within glide distance. Thoughts?
  3. When I first learnt in a Thruster in the late 80s, I was taught to be able to fly along the runway without drifting left or right before I was taught to land, then more recently in a Gazelle, I thought this was quite standard. Any CFIs care to comment?
  4. Interesting video about weight and balance, simulations at 16:00
  5. what amuses me about this clip is when the pilot sits in the chair at 1:36 it is not quite fully opened, had it collapsed it surely would have been the last straw
  6. yeah his hearing isn't that great anyway, lots of shouting and hand signals:headset:
  7. took my 85 year old father flying, he loved it despite some epic turbulence on final. My favourite quote of the day - Me "so are you nervous" - Him "I'm 85 what have I got to be nervous of?"
  8. Thanks David, yes there is something special about taking your father flying. I hope I am still that active at his age. ;)

  11. I have carried one of these for a few years now. I bought this from Bunnings for a couple of dollars, it is sold as a shade cloth cutter but it cuts through seat belts quite nicely, it is also very light and safe to carry.
  12. it would be good to know who would be interested in standing for a board position when the time comes
  13. A bit background information on "What it looks like to have a plane fly within 2 feet of you at 200mph " video http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/01/24/16682889-stunt-airplane-swoops-near-people-on-runway-in-video-raising-safety-concerns?lite
  14. Fascinating documentary

  19. TP so if I pay for these documents am I legally not allowed share them? Does every single interested member have to pay $36 per report, the only winner here would be the Dept. of Justice. I can understand your point about a copy being un certified but perhaps if people could see or at least know exactly what the anomalies are they may be more willing to pay
  20. TP can you clarify whether you are legally unable to post the financial reports or are unwilling? I don't really understand why once the information is out there it can't be shared in full.
