Thanks Don! All we need now is blue skies!!!
-
Yep, been there - done that!lol - on Monday I needed to make my "Joining Mid field xwind" call and my instructor asked me what I was going to say. I rattled it off like a pro. Then I press the button and unfortunately it must have been the "Delete" button. I had to stop and think what runway, what I was doing etc. etc. It's funny how that happens. -
The guys at work know that I fly, and today someone came up to tell me about the ABC report they saw about Solomon.
They were then blown away when I told them that I already knew about it and so many people here were pitching in to help.

Hi Bob. Wow, 100 litres per hour!
It looks cool, though!
Have you considered a Jabiru, like a J230 or the like? There is also Australian Light Wing Speed which is supposed to be a very GA-like LSA.
You'd be burning only 22'ish litres per hour then!
-
It might be a bit of a drive also, but doesn't Tooradin have some Drifters?
-
Good to hear, J! You're having much better luck with the Wx than me!
-
Awesome! Thanks for that Tomo.
After seeing that, and listening to the control tower at work it's much clearer what they're up against! They do an amazing job!
-
Wow! Thanks for the link. It's an amazing feat to get all of those a/c down safely!
-
Thanks for the update, OZ! Looking forward to the pics also!

What about an option for those who don't mind either way?
-
Do that on the simulator - it's great fun!The wind is probably strong enough here in gusts that you could point the Foxbat into it and takeoff on the spot! -
We're all there with ya, Frank! But, how are we all going to fit in the Drifter?I promise to take you all with me, when I go up again, over the weekend!!! -
Yep, you win!Winds gusting to 40 knots here today!!!!!I just hope that the Wx holds out until Sunday.
-
Keep your chin up Jake! I'm in the same boat. Itchin' for a fly - yet every time I book the aircraft the weather is sh:censored:t!
That's just nasty, Frank! You poor buggers!!!...............I`m about to put down the tools, walk down to the Drifter and go!.......Up....Up.... and away! !!!- 1

I've just recently got X-Plane 9. After years of MS Flight Sim, it was nice to have a simulator that was a breeze to set up! I also love the fact that someone has taken the time to program a Jabiru J160 for it, too!
-
Hey Red, that is an awesome feeling. I clearly remember going for my first fly. No instruction, just flying for the fun of it. My instructor called me up and offered me a burl with him in a friend's Jabiru SP (the flying schools' J160 was in the middle of having a overhaul, so we were both itching for a fly). Just to be sitting there, looking at the scenery was great, and really refreshing after many circuits. We went for a 1 and a bit hour run around from caboolture to caloundra inland and back to caboolture via glasshouse... The first time that I've ever actually gone for a flight, and the most fun I've had in an aircraft ever, though I didnt get to fly, just sitting there admiring all the very pretty playstations in the dash, and the world around us was very neat!Keep up the good work!

Hey Damoski, thanks! Congratulations to you, too!
I'll remember that!Try to avoid a turbulent day the first time... Fly smooth... Pick something interesting to fly over... Don't argue over directions... :big_grin:As for a track logger I use GPS Sport Tracker for my Windows Mobile Phone. It works well enough, but the moment I am able to I'm switching to Android. A lot of great apps there!
There was one day that it went haywire - it thought I was flying in a straight line Nth of Mildura, but I was just doing circuits at home! Other than that, it's been good.
Any landing you crawl away from............
