  1. Bikes for over 40 years flying only 5. Drifter is a flying bike so just a natual progression.
  2. I've got the video on my laptop and the music is "Sure Feels Good" by Brian Cadd off The Morning of the Earth album. I can bring the laptop tomorrow and if someone can hook it up to a TV everyone can watch it. Hope this helps. John
  3. I learnt on a Foxbat, it has a nose wheel, and converted to a Drifter after getting my ticket. The Foxbat is a loverly a/c to fly and will cruise at 90kts no trouble but land at 35kts. Great for short field training and very forgiving but I'm a confirmed Drifter person now and think that's probably the way to go if you can. As for training I never did a circuit beyond glide distance and only a couple of power on approaches to see what they were like as I had a proper RAA type instructor and not some GA reffo. cheers John
  4. Yes David, Wittman was a bit of a genius all right. Dave Thatcher uses his wing tip design on the CX4 and that cruises at 110kts on 65hp. The Buttercup would be a good project except it might be a long one. John
  5. Steve Wittman solved the problem in 1938 and Boeing etc are using it now. http://www.luceair.com/ This critter has a MTOW of 1320lbs (600kg) as well. cheers John
  6. I'm not the best photogragher but here are some from the Tyagarah dawn patrol. There was a C150, 2 Tiger Moths, aFisher Classic bipe and a Drifter. cheers John

  9. Went up there last Saturday. Beautiful smooth strip unlike ytyh. Here's a pretty ordinary pic from the south. there's a Tiger Moth there if you look closely. cheers John https://www.recreationalflying.com/xf2/data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEASABIAAD/4Q90RXhpZgAATU0AKgAAAAgADAEPAAIAAAAJAAAAngEQAAIAAAAQAAAAqAESAAMAAAABAAEAAAEaAAUAAAABAAAAuAEbAAUAAAABAAAAwAEoAAMAAAABAAIAAAExAAIAAAAnAAAAyAEyAAIAAAAUAAAA8AITAAMAAAABAAIAAIKYAAIAAAAFAAABBIdpAAQAAAABAAABCsSlAAcAAAAcAAAO/gAADxpGVUpJRklMTQAARmluZVBpeCBTMjAwMEhEAAAAAEgAAAABAAAASAAAAAFEaWdpdGFsIENhbWVyYSBGaW5lUGl4IFMyMDAwSEQgVmVyMS4wMQAAMj
  10. "You dont actually get anything for your $185 apart to from the magazine which is probably worth $120 based on what is on the shelf at most newsagents." And $10 million in public liability insurance and Natfly. Oh and that also includes the licence fee. cheers John

  12. I'm not suspicious by nature but it seems an amazing coincidence that the day after you posted on this forum you receive an apologetic phone call. Would it be beyond the realm of possibility that an executive of Rest Super might be a member or lurker on this site? Glad that it looks like your ordeal is over. John
  13. A bit short notice for Tyagarah and Byron council would probably want a development application, environment impact statement and the blood of someones firstborn. cheers John
  14. I fly out of Tyagarah just north of Byron Bay. cheers John
  15. Good choice Justin. Very nice pics looks like a great place to fly. cheers John
