  1. 21/3/18 we departed Albury at 900 for Corryong , over the hills were a little turbulent but still a nice run into Corryong, on the ground there waited a RV from Mount Beauty , Rans and a Jabiru from Holbrook and of course my Brumby 610. We walked into Corryong for a relaxing coffee . After a short break and walk around town , we headed for the air port , with its new facilities and resurfacing , it looked a picture nestled in the lovely valley. We departed Corryong for Khancoban, this is short 25 mile flight . Khancoban is a snowy hydro town on the gate way to one of Australia’s finest national parks, With it’s water storage’s and lovely valleys Khancoban offers many things for many people fishing, hiking, biking ,4x4 tracks and camping or just relaxing . Our group walk to town for a pub meal and a relax . Before we realised, it was time to head to the planes for the next leg which was to be Tumut, but after some discussion it was decided to fore go this leg for another day. We departed Khancoban for our home bases just as the wind picked up , great timing for a rough trip home. Another great outing , allbeit short in distance, it was interesting . Lovely mountains and valleys , fantastic aviation conversation and yes, we do live in a great area.
  2. Today 15/3/18 6 like minded aviators embarked on a short trip to Cootamundra for lunch , the air this morning was glass and we enjoyed a leisurely smooth journey. After a short walk into town, we enjoyed a relaxing coffee and eats. Following some enlightenment on all things aeronautical , we did a lap of the Main Street . Some purchased novelty items and these items were photographed in various location around the town which related to a few laughs. The trip back to Albury was like sitting in a washing machine with thermals and winds robbing us of a smooth flight home. Believe me a fantastic time was had by all. Thanks to the aviators that could make it . I look forward to the next trip. Stevron
  3. It’s Monday after noon and all is ready for a journey to Hervey Bay, 2 planes depart Albury 1x Brumby 610 and a Glass star , as it was late we only made it to Dubbo for the evening, after topping up the fuel, it’s time to tie down the planes but the ground was so hard our pegs bent and wind is so bad it was difficult to put the covers on. A cab into town and a stay at a budget motel. Next morning we headed off to Goondiwindi and made it in good time so it was agreed to push on to Kingaroy but half way the winds and ,clouds were building and after some soul searching , it was agreed to head for Chinchilla the Glass star being faster arrived with time to spare as the weather closed in, the Brumby following just made it prior to some heavy rain and winds. A cab Into town for the afternoon. We filled the day sight seeing and resting. A cab back to air port in the morning seen us in the air at a suitable time to see the best part of the day . The flight to HarveyBay was an adventure and some New flying skills. Flying around the heavy clouds was like a roller coaster in slow motion. We descended into Mary Borough area to have a good look of this area and to take advantage of the view out to sea, Hervey Bay is right next to Mary Borough and they share the same CTAF frequency. Our stay at this coastal town was short and by Saturday we were back in the air to Heck Field via the VFR lanes , we stayed low taking in the scenery ,of the landscape and coastal beauty. Landing at Heck Field seen the Brumby do a less then perfect arrival , actually a very poor effort. What a fantastic bunch fellows , one fellow a kiwi called Ric with a humerous Persona entertained us for a couple hours , ( Rick once meet never forgotten you were one of the highlights of the trip) we were entertained in the Gold Coast for the evening by some friends but after reading the weather report it was decided to vacant early next morning. The trip was uneventful for a couple hours then as the weather started to close in , we headed for Warwick , the Brumby top up with fuel and awaited the Glass star but he decided to head for Moree while the Brumby was fuelling, a phone call , where are you ,he said that the weather better towards Moree so I start for Moree and a call came in again the Glass Star was in bound to Inglewood for lunch and to sit out any oncoming weather. Rosie’s place at Inglewood was most hospitable , arranging a great lunch , a lift to the air port , thank you Sharon and the team of Rosie’s and Pete for the lift. The weather though windy was ok for the Brumby to head straight to Narrabri, the Glass star continued to Moree for fuel, then we meet up at Narrabri for the evening. Monday morning and we decide to head for Cootamundra for lunch , the Glass Star arrived first and top up with fuel while he waited for the Brumby ( which did not need fuel ) . We walked into town for a bite to eat and a cup coffee. A quick run back to Albury and it was all over far to soon . No mechanical trouble , no punctures , no bad memories , just a great trip and some learning moments .
  4. I left Albury at Approx 800 hrs 22/2/18 and flew to Holbrook where I meet up with Ian Deely. After a few moments of plane rearranging at his hangar. We were on our way to Tumut . The weather was slightly overcast and nil wind. Our arrival into picturesque Tumut was without a doubt fantastic. On the ground we with a CFI Peter and 3 Tumut aero club members who offered us a cup of coffee and some educational snippets of the clubs past, a big thank you goes out to the Tumut club members for their hospitality. Ian had a Work engagement so approximately 10-30 we left the lovely air port of Tumut and flew over a large water reservoir and over Batlow returning to Holbrook and Albury. This was a morning trip as we had limited time , but I can tell you, even with limited time , a beautiful morning floating around in the air is better than working or Maintenance at home. We hope to do a few extra one day trips shortly. Happy aviating
  5. As I start to renew my asic card , I learn that if I am an employee requiring a red ASIC card I pay $181 but as a pilot I need to pay around 290 $ , does that mean discrimination against pilots or is this another way of reducing the number of private pilots as the inconvenience and expense of enjoying aeronautical endeavours is becoming prohibiting , Give me a break , these people making these ridiculous burdens in the name of security have not really thought this through. Will an asic card protect the community I think not.
  6. Bruce Avery a well known aviator in the Albury / Holbrook area past away 4th of November . Bruce was a capable aviator and offered assistance and encouragement to anyone he met . Bruce was involved in the aviation museum at the Holbrook Aero club as well as active member within the club. We will miss Bruces positive view of life and his genuine interest in all things aviation. RIP Bruce.
  7. Thanks DJ , I have read this with the dame , but as I said , all my other tests I past except the 42 neck. But thanks for pointing out the BMI but I and most 60 plus year olds ex rugby players would find it hard to fit in to the 18 to 24 bmi
  8. Half a brick and a hammer handle on my shoulders will surfice as long as it measures less than 42
  9. Can you believe it , I worry about my weight to height ratio , my previous medical impos, my eye sight, my hearing , my sugar ,my blood, how many beers in drink of a night , just to be told all that's ok , but my neck is too large and so it should be , as it has to carry my fat head. It appears that CASA has decreed that if your a male and have a neck size in excess 42 or a woman greater 38 your not going to receive a class 2 medical without doing an expensive sleep over and report . Out of the many places I could be on a lazy evening ,hospital is not one that jumps out at me. So be for -warned and prepare your self for the additional expense of a sleep apnea test . Happy snoring
  10. it is with sadness I report the passing of Joe Drage ,the original owner of Drage air world in Wangaratta. Drage Air world was reportly the largest privately owned aviation museum in the Australia . Though Joe was well into his eighties he still showed keen interest in all things aviation, he also retained large personal collection of aviation memorabilia and a small collection of air craft. R.I.P Joe
  11. on Tuesday the 28th march a Brumby pilot and a jabiru pilot meet at the Albury airport for a flight to Lakes Enterance, it was about lunch time before the two little planes headed to off . Departing Albury we began climbing to 5500' for Mitta Mitta , the Brumby flying on top of the cloud (scattered) and the jabiru under the cloud at 3500', we had a small detour to view Dartmouth dam from the air , what a sight it was, just fantastic. A additional climb to 7500' for the Brumby and bingo a 30 plus knot tail wind , look out Lakes we will be there in double quick time, flying via Benambra valley (another superb view ) the Brumby was handling the conditions like a thoroughbred . The last 54miles straight to YLKE was bumpy and a quick descent to stay under the steps of Sale air space , then we were on top of the grass strip ( long grass) of YLKE , this is up hill if approached for 26 . The owner of the strip was on site to greet us and offer a lift into town . We explored the town , booked into the Heyfield motel ( a welcoming place and the owner was not fussed and allowed us a late check out) the Motel is walking distance into town . We settled for an evening meal at the RSL which was quite busy for a Tuesday evening. Wednesday morning more walking and exploring, followed by breakfast. Before we knew it I was time to depart this friendly coastal town. Departure from the airstrip was made easier due to the maintenance of the grass which is now short in readiness for the arrival of the Mount Gambier club. Out bound was as rough as our arrival and made more interesting by the 20/30 knot head wind ( the higher I climbed the more the head wind ) we need to climb to clear the high country that was coming up , so at 8500' I was pushing a great deal of head wind , on the bright side - another fantastic view and beautiful sky's and believe me I had time to look around . I descended on Mitta Mitta and call called Albury tower and to my surprise the tower operator was unbelievable busy and stayed that way for the rest of the trip to Albury , I have never heard so much traffic before . The 24 hour trip was enjoyable , via mountains, sea, valleys and fine little village of Lakes Enterance.
  12. my keys have returned from there holiday at Narromine, they are safe and well in the Brumby .
  13. if anyone knows the whereabouts of a set of homeless keys , last seen lurking beside a Brumby at Naromine please let me know,
  14. You must feel so privileged to be so perfect.
  15. Thanks Laurie , it's been awhile , this spring I would like to fly over to your area , give me some advice if your able

  17. 27/8/16 I flew to Tumut for a BBQ and social gathering. The new extensions to the club house looked great. The day started out , smooth air , clear sky's and sunshine, by lunch the weather cooled but maintained clear sky's . I was interested in a powered hand glider from Camberra , after a lengthy conversation with the pilot , I decided that I am not ready for this type of flying. A jabiru had a flat nose wheel tyre during landing , plenty of people ready to lend a hand or offer advise. I would say 20 planes , but I did not count them , a mixture of trikes , GA and RA planes ( 1 powered chute) For pilots to stay at the club house there's accommodation unit on site . Before I realised it was time to leave , what a pretty valley , what a great bunch of aviators and friends See you next time Tumut aero club and friends. Brumby 610

  19. To all , thanks for comments, I can only report the correspondance given to me from the factory ( as posted 22/5/16) and people at Brumby were not aware until resently as they have been trying to solve the fault for a long time (a couple of years) then a 2 weeks ago we fitted 2 non ANR David clark head sets and problem was gone.
  20. Thanks everyone , sorry for the delay in response
  21. Thanks I will let my mate know he is looking a spare
  22. Thanks , I have obtained a couple , but thanks for your fine offer
  23. I include a response from micron air in my last posting , the manufacturer said NO ANR headsets
  24. This radio issue I have is an on going problem , from day one, the communication from passenger to pilot is muffled that it makes passenger remove their headsets, yet with one zulu2 headset fitted its fine, Speaking to Microair ,they do not agree with fitting ANR headset as the mic gain is great. This is from Micro air , I have a P radio. Hi Steve If the report came back with no faults then this was tested and passed. We use a standard Aviation Headset which is what our radio has been designed for. Did you send your headset in with the radio? I am sorry if I didn't let you know that this wouldn't work with your noise cancelling headset but I only found out when I passed on your symptoms to our senior technician who informed me about the high power from these devices. Can you please check that these meet the Australian Aviation Industry standards like the Altronics Aviation Headset we sell? As I stated we can reduce the mic gain on the radio to suit your headset and fix the gain to try and prevent the FM interference. I have copied Scott my manager so he is aware of your situation too. Kind Regards
  25. After some extended investigations I have found Microair radios do not work well with noise cancelling headsets, the manufacture does not articulate this very well and after trying a number of different remedies, the only way I can have to radio intercom to work correctly is to use non electric headsets. According to the manufacturer, you can not fit a external intercom . I am looking to purchase some old technology , any one got 2 non electronic headsets for sale .
