  1. ok, first they requested I need to get an engineering order for the brolga prop or replace with the certified one.$1400 later done, 2 weeks later 2nd letter requesting photo's of all place cards including mtow. done 2 weeks later 3rd letter just received, now they want photo of hrs and landings and another photo signed and dated of underwing reg numbers?WTF I have sent them in the first place signed dated photos of under wing and tail reg numbers signed and dated by cfi,lvl 2 including all info in the report /inspection and transfer info..this is starting to %^&& me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! reg runs out next week. could have told me all this 6 weeks back when they first sent a letter about the prop...very unprofessional guys. I guess when I send out the next requested info ill receive another request for something else..feels like they don't want my plane rego'ed? not happy JAN
  2. looks like we found our stunt pilots for "The Diary of Jack Flyer"!
  3. NO!! what level 2 would pass it with any faults? main concern would be "the wing tanks out of service"!! they would need replacing or re-servicing ,surly? I would suggest finding something maintained a bit better or have a good talk with the owner about your rightly so concerns...good luck and STAY SAFE.
  4. ahh ha ha ha That petition is a joke..... were are all the fair dinkum Ozzies that are so called concerned?
  5. weird ,Im fine in command but as a pax? green.even in a car I need to be driving? yet in a boat (big or small im fine?) go figure?
  6. OMG!! 500k for a newy...ill stick with RAA then..
  7. yep agreed, loved the 182 the first time when I was PIC (PIC apart from take off and landing). I also won 2 tickets on the radio for a joyride with the shark patrol taking off from Parrafield S.A . I think that was a 182 also?was about 5 years ago and When the pilot showed us his steep 360Deg continuous turns (that he performs above a located shark,)I went green...lol I tell you I could not wait to land ,and had to lie on the back seat for the whole 2 hr drive home with my head spinning and guts churning...took 3 hrs to recover.
  8. did an hour in a c182, first flying Experience and loved it
  9. does prop and aircraft matter? gsc props recommend no more than 6200rpm on take off with there props on a blue top 582 ?
  10. cool thanks but what about my cruise setting? from what Im finding is I should be up sround 5800rpm for cruise but would this use more fuel? I like cruising around at 5200 rpm,65 knys only uses 12 ltrs an hour and feels smoother at that setting? but was told im not in the powerband range? does that really matter? side note =reason for thread I just fitted a new bolly 2 blade ground adjustable and want it set up right.thankyou:smile:
  11. Im well aware of what the latest manual states as I was ripped off buying it on cd when you get it for free off the net.idjet i am sometimes.. I have posted a pic of my Aircraft manual LW gr 582 blue top section " engine 582 blue top power plant limatations" to show the difference. This is why I became confused after purchacing the latest manual.? I have spoken with a number of rotax dealers and get different OPINIONS ? received an email this morning from a bombardier rotax with the info posted.Hence a great need for discussion as I dont want to be over or under propped?I have gone with 6500 rpm on take off and drop to 6000 after 3-4 mins but still cruise at 5200 (save fuel) but would hate to think im doing harm? ISo im up for all good input because I want my engine set right. Edit - should mention with old fixed prop was only getting 5900rpm on take off. been like that for 400+ hrs before I came along
  12. I asked about that and is mentioned in another thread ,apperently it refers to the oil injection pressure for lubing the water pump/or for the 2 stroke oil injection? I forget now but minor details?its definatly a rotax 582 blue top manual.there was other descepencies in the manual I had cleared up from rotax. My good friend has an older 582 and his manual is practicly identical?wonder if they just mass produce and change a few minor details? pretty crap when Rotax themselves state one thing and their manuals another? speaking to Wal at Bert flood he recomended what the manual states (6500 max 5 mins on take off) he also mentioned (where i became lost) torque range/line? at certain revs ,power band ,etc..I cruise at 5200 revs .seems good on fuel and cruises nice at 65 knts. but I may not be running at optimum performance,5400-5800 revs cruise setting? So as you can see theirs a lot of different info out there,I have sent a message yet again to Rotax Austraia inquiring on why they messaged one thing whilst there manual states another? I have given them engine and model numbers gear box and ratio.now to wait for a reply.
  13. from my rotax 582 blue top manual..different ? hence the need to contact an authority..
  14. There is a lot of threads on topic of what the maximum rpm should be on a Rotax 2 stroke so I decided to find out the truth behind all the beliefs.I first checked the rotax manual, then rang Wal at bert flood ,then a few other dealers (qld and uk) eventually I was able to email bombardier Rotax HQ Austria. was interesting on what they specified. All Rotax 2 strokes share the same RPM .MAX 6800 rpm REDLINE REDLINE REDLINE BEFORE ENGINE DESINTIGRATION. Max Rpm should NOT exceed 6500 rpm. running no more than 5 mins max(IN STREIGHT AND LEVEL FLIGHT ONLY) static full power should be around 6000 -6200 rpm max take off climb should be 6200-6400 rpm max and streight and level flight at full power should be 6500 Rpm 5 mins MAX maximum rpm refers to full power in streight and level flight NOT TAKE OFF CLIMB!! I however climb out at 6500 rpm but I may be rethinking this now.
  15. I have just gone threw the process of having the RIGHT prop certified for my LW1 gr582. it all comes down to gear box and ratio as some box's on 582's can take a 72" prop, mine however is running a c box with 2.62:1 ratio and the correct prop is a 68" 2 or 3 blades. not sure about a 4 blade though? 4 blades at 72" with only 65 ponies to spin it at 6500rpm would require some torque I'd reckon.but just guessing!
  16. what gear box and ratio? tractor or pusher?
  17. Sad news yet again...A skydiver had his chute fail yesterday and his reserve became tangled in his main chute and unfortunately he did not survive the fall. this took place at Wellington skydiving airfield..Condolences to family and friends. has been shocking week for Aviation:(
  18. I think im still young..ish?only 34 started flying at 28 but if I could have afforded it would have started much younger. good to see the younger gen out and about...enjoy mate..

  20. Yesterdays conditions were not so good,My old CFI flew late 7:45pm with a student (Nth vic) and after becoming airborne they lost lift!!He had to take quick action to avoid an 80ft tree and struggled for alt,He slowly gained hight and made a complete circuit safley. this was All due to air desity.Had no issues this morning but he was concered about the accident mentioned here.the accident site is not a place you would delibratly fly low over?sad news and too close to home. condolences to family and friends.
  21. thats crap.just had a look on FB. wish peeps would just let live for @#$#@ sake..enjoy life ya missrable sons of @#$#@@@..
  22. The price is due to size! I have been working with peter and craig at Bolly here in adelaide and if it was a 66" $1680,3 blade -68"2 blade$1280,composit with duratape on leading edge ,dynamicly balanced, extra $99 for spinner with prop purchase.
  23. sorry all I could find at present https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8DfycMzdK4
  24. little history, back in the day ultralights were restricted to fly under 300ft ,no flying over roads, buildings etc..There were No dual seat trainers unless you went G.A so you either tried it with little to no knowledge or went for the hard to find ultralight instructor.Yes there were instructors in the late 70's early 80's and how it worked was a lot of ground school in which the would be pilot would drive the ultralight with a throttle stop around listening to the instructor shout out instructions. When the instructor was satisfied you would do crow hops/bunny hops and then solo or the more creative instructors would tether the plane to a vehicle ,have his missus drive ,towing the student pilot about 10 ft high then 20ft,30ft etc,, and the instructor would sit in the back/boot and scream out instructions.....unfortunatly due to so many things IE: hight restrictions(try stalling at 300ft! or an engine failure in the high drag contraptions, which were so common) No trianing or certificate required, planes with dash pannels consisting of ASI and tacho (if that in some cases),and Pilots dropping rather fast ,things had to change ,,,,,,for the better? hmm still debateable!! I love them brave pioneers of our belovered HOBBY.... I thank them/you whole heartedly for the development of the movement in which I/and others now enjoy so much in there shadows. Thanks Jack:wink:
