  1. Thanks all. Eighty knots I love the picture. I am flying again this Friday and I must say I am a little apprehensive. That is good though because it will make me concentrate better.
  2. Looks great. I look forward to meeting you at Gawler and flying in the same airspace.
  3. I spent years racing Yachts including Melbourne to Hobart and Sydney to Hobart's. I figure I have survived through a lot of oceans in some horrendous weather so flying should be easy. Like has been said we all have to go one day and i would rather go out doing something I am passionate about than the big C.
  4. Seems to work fine for what I do on this site. Seems faster to me to browse. Mind you I am basically computer literate.
  5. Have there been any studies using total hours in operation showing that Jab engines are any more or less prone to failure. The old argument is there are a lot more jab engines in service so therefore more failures. But what is the reality when lined up by hours flown across all other engines? I am new to flying and all i hear is how bad Jabiru engines are. If this is the case then I will stop flying as I really Dont want to end up dead from a hobby.
  6. Just glad that all are ok. Aircraft can be replaced. Although the Jab haters will love it because it gives them more ammo. Put the safety down to the great safety training at RPA.
  7. Thank god they are fine. Had to be one of my instructors. Let us know if anyone knows who it was.
  8. I hope your wrong. The guys from RPA are away this weekend. I am not sure if that is where they went.
  9. Hi Graham welcome and I hope you enjoy your flying in warmer climates. I just went solo in a Jab170 so I don't know any better.
  10. Hey J 170 owner. Happy to buy you a beer. When is the bar open.
  11. I flew with Gary Williams in Jabiru 170 7385. It was really still except for a few bumps in the road coming over the freeway on 31. Thanks everyone for the congratulations. Yes Eric it is a great feeling. I really want to get to my nav's now.
  12. My wife says I look like an idiot walking around with a big stupid grin. Someone said on here that you can hear your instructor in your ear while flying alone. I can say that that is true. Plus my instructor had a hand held so he could yell at me if I stuffed up. Lol
  13. I have a grin from ear to ear tonight. I went solo today at Gawler. I had started to wonder if I was ever going to get there. That is the first hurdle now onward and upward. I can't wait to start navs.
  14. It would be funny if it wasn't so close to the truth. Some of my commercial customers don't pay until they need to place another order. The worst part is we are a disability organization.
  15. Ian that is perfect and exactly what i was talking about.
  16. I bought the set of books from my flight school when I started. Also a copy of the rules for the airfield you fly from is needed. The books and a log book come in a box for the price of around 1 hrs flying lesson.
  17. List different aircraft with possibly a report or opinion on good and bad points. Maybe some facts on the aircraft.
  18. I read the threat thanks petetheprinta. I think before rushing out and buying an aircraft I should try and fly in as many as possible. I do love the Jabiru 170 though. I am sure there will never be a shortage of planes for sale.
  19. Nothing. The FK9 just looks really nice but is way outside my price range.
  20. Yes I do like the Foxbat. I saw one in Murray Bridge. I will have to try and get a fly in one at Gawler one day. My wife is a photographer and would love the Foxbat.
  21. Fell in love with this aircraft at Gawler on Saturday. Great looking machine. Does anyone know anything about these machines? It can be hired at Gawler if you meet the requirements and get checked by an instructor.
  22. Please pass on my regards to David. Tell him John Gibson fron the squadron said hello. As soon as I am allowed I will fly into Truro and catch up.
  23. Congratulations that is fantastic. Don't stop recording your exploits they give me a reason to keep persisting in trying to get there. Again congratulations I am green with envy.
  24. That will teach me to read better. Sorry. I wonder if you know an old friend of mine David Searle? I believe he flies out of Truro. David and I both had yachts once. I would love to catch up with him again.
  25. Thanks Nev. once I got back in control I found it easy to control the speed on aproaches. With a screaming tail wind downwind went really fast.
