  1. He does appear to have a dry sense of humour. Perhaps his response was a reaction to yet another non constructive criticism by someone ranting emotionally.
  2. There are different forms of gliding too. How about HANG gliding and PARA gliding? I took up paragliding about three years ago and found it very addictive, so much so that I have sold my beloved Corby Starlet due to insufficient space to carry my PG. I now have a Jabbie UL450 kit project which is nearing completion. By the way, the UL450 has a claimed glide ratio of 18:1 and sink rate of 250' per minute so I'm thinking there are going to be fun quiet times (deliberately) apart from the sound of a vario happily beeping away. Plus of course there is now room for a couple of PG wings and associated gear.
  3. ... Was a little worried when I was building it as I had read some really negative reviews... Bahhh Humbug to them,,,, I like this little plane so far and what else as good could I get for the money... Well done! Interesting that there is another oldish project being completed. I am in the process of completing a UL-450 and very much looking forward to flying it. Regards, Laurie

  5. Correct- If the ATSB decides an accident does not fit the criteria for them to conduct the investigation then police are directed do do so on behalf of the Coroner (fatal accidents). The police prepare an inquest brief which contains statements from witnesses and 'expert witnesses', accident scene diagrams, photos and whatever else that will help the Coroner make a finding. If there is a weakness in procedures, design issues etc which played a part in the accident, the Coroner will include recommendations in his finding. Hope this helps clear things up.

Boroscope check of cylinders of my Jabiru 2200 engine for the UL450 project. This engine has been in storage (inhibited) since 2000. The barrels are steel (4130 I believe) and this is how they look - shiny with the hone marks clearly visible. Brown stuff on the bottom surface and on the piston is th
