  1. Won't stop raining, thanks for the interest
  2. I wasn't really concerned with the weight of my Xair , I am having trouble getting my head around my sabre ending up with a lower MTOW than the Xair , although all the rego renewals have came back at 544 so l am guessing it has been sorted out and that fantastic looking blue sabre ,regardless of the dispute , can legally find a new home
  3. I might need more HP , but I think yours is a bit different to mine
  4. Mine was set at the higher weight when I first bought it , about 3 years ago, the point I was trying to make was the build and performance difference of both aircraft when comparing MTOW, I think my Xair at MTOW on a warm day would struggle to get off the ground
  5. As well as my sabre I also own a Xair , my lame called it a flying annex and my CFI although happy to fly in the sabre not so much in the Xair . Now I am the first to admit I am way out of my depth when it comes to understanding the rules and laws of our regulators as opposed to some of the other experts on these forums but you would think common sense would eventually prevail , the Xairs MTOW is 544kgs
  6. There has been a couple of landings with the wheels up , can't really blame the plane for that, and they come out without much damage as the wheels still run on the ground , the undercarriage all go over centre and lock into place .i had to adjust one limit switch that's about it and I have done I lot of landings,
  7. Interesting , I have clocked up 1350hrs in my sabre, never had any trouble with the undercarriage flying off our grass strip, only replaced brakes and tyres, parts direct from the factory turns up in a week, the weight restrictions I believe was being sorted out within RAA . There are other Czech built planes flying in Aust with the higher weight limits
  8. Thanks, at 43inches is there plenty of room for two bigger blokes or are you rubbing shoulders
  9. Maybe they will lift the stall speed as well otherwise what would be the point of going to 1500kgs , my other choice is to go with the rpl , but my question was more so to do with min cab width , any sugestions?
  10. If the weight increase goes ahead I have been dreaming of maybe stepping up to a rv7 , but watching lots of y tube videos the cabin looks a bit cramped, great cruising along at 170 but nothing worse than rubbing shoulders on a long trip. The plane I fly has staggered seating , works good, what would the narrowest cab width you would go for.
  11. My tyres are 8 ply , strong in the walls but not that thick in the tread, ended up using the goo and still had one go down over a few days used a bit more goo and it stopped and haven't had any more trouble , not bindie season at the moment though, wheels didn't seem to get out of balance so all good
  12. I think under SAAA rules only the original builder can only do the maintenance , if sold it needs annuals done by a lame ,
  13. Will this mean if you are the second owner of a RV7 and not the builder you can do your own maintenance which would be a huge plus
  14. Thanks for that , I will get on it as soon as my strip dries out a bit
  15. Might have to get radio nurd mate to figure it out
  16. Driving me nuts, hard to track down the problem , the uhf unit doesnt pick it up so it maybe in the vhf aerial somewhere
  17. plane has just developed a radio buzz on receive , the buzz goes up and down with the engine revs, volts look ok, replaced reg not that long ago, I have little knowledge when it comes to these problems, hoping someone can give me some ideas. engine is a 914 ,1350 hrs
  18. The Rotax.com crowd gave it a good review, anyway I've ordered one through a mate who is in the trade so I hope it works as good as they say.
  19. Anyone used the Synchromate 11 , electronic gadget rather than vac gauges , read about them in eaa yank Mag , seems they are more accurate , I have a set of the tube type ,carbmate, they seem to stick and hard to get right.
  20. Thanks for that, it's sort of what I figured to be on the safe side, our track is a long way from the military base so I guessed it was possible to transit , and we have all the life vests so we should be OK
  21. Track is under adelaides steps ,below 8500 , but it looks like it takes you through restricted military zone flt 250 to sfc , could we contact the military to get permission or Adelaide twr
  22. Sorry never finished , try again , crosses r279 , what's involved to transit, rather than fly around .
  23. Planing a trip which will take us from Kingscote on kangaroo island to William creek but it crosses restricted r2
  24. You blokes need to get your heads out of the gutter and not between the jugs
  25. We are using tuff jugs, got 4 of them, really easy to use, no spills and stop running when the tank is nearly full, no good on filling tanks that have vertical caps , got them from off road motorcycle shop , I think ballards import them , unsure about the static, cost about $90 haven't caught fire yet
