  1. Some new aero diesel engines in the pipeline are supposed to be common rail. Would that make a difference?
  2. Rod at Jabiru employs engineers who work on engines. Is it possible that a DIESEL fuel injected engine is in the works? I am not the first to ask that question. Several aviators of my aquaintance have asked the same question. I put this to the forum as a FWIW.
  3. Not a pretty sight!! That sends shivers down the spine.
  4. Pud, Good to hear from another Lightning man. My aircraft should arrive sometime in February along with at least 2 others. None are flying in Australia just yet. I expect that will change later in 2007. I assume you are on the Matronics forum. Anyone interested in following-up extra discussions on the Lightning (and other aircraft) should take a look at the Matronics forum at http://forums.matronics.com/ Pud, looking forward to your posts and pictures.
  5. A new Arion Lightning by John Davies has taken to the skies, in the USA. No Australian ones just yet. A photo of John's aircraft is in the image.
  6. Are able and willing to post a drawing (photos perhaps) of your EFI setup on the 3300? I have been looking for this kind of setup for some time. Thanks
  7. I saw your Pulsar some months back while visiting Ron Fiebig. He informed me that you were having a few difficulties, but can't remember what they were. At the time I was considering a Pulsar. However, weight reduction would be mandatory for me to fly a Pulsar.
  8. I am confused!! There is much talk about GPS, IPAQ & PDA, maps etc etc. That's fine, but can anybody point forum members toward a simple, yet comprehensive article(s) which deal with this area?
  9. Welcome David. I have flown in all three Grumman Tigers at Archerfield with my brother-in-law Rodney Phillips. He is also a member of the group you mention. In April last year he did his conversion to Light Sport with Cliff Banks at Swan Hill. With what you have mentioned in your post, share this with Rodney and tell him to join this forum. Safe flying
  10. I have been off air, so to speak, while my computer was upgraded. Someone wondered if I had emptied my cache. I did indeed. I got rid of everything and started with a clean slate and then imported bookmarks back to Firefox. So far so good.
  11. I can now see the thumbnails. At the top of this post I can click-on and enlarge photos from Paul's CT. I couldn't do this an hour ago. Ian, at the bottom of the page under "Posting Rules" we are shown whether certain functions are On or Off. Mine are On except the HTML code line which is Off. How do we turn that On?
  12. Thumb nails still missing for me. Using Firefox, latest version. I saw the original one you posted at 6.37 today.
  13. You're right Darren, it was an Auster. Thankfully our news reported the crash as news without much comment and didn't say it was an ultralight.

    Ho Ho Ho

This "Ho Ho Ho" has appeared in several publications over the last 3 years. However, it is always posted by "Anonymous." Perhaps now we have the 'true' author!! viz., Castlemain breweries.
  15. Let's wait and see what the RAA team has to say. There is probably more to this than is currently known. Lester N , have you got input for this?
  16. The Dynon 100 is available in Horsham and is being used by a few pilots. What I am searching for is discussion/debate on Al Wicks ideas and what he has done to date. Can I suggest to those who thus inclined to go to his website and digest the material he has on HIS glass Panel. I like the what he is doing with built in safety. His website: http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
  17. Thanks for that Zulu1. In the Australian magazine "Recreational Aviation," in the Dec/Jan edition there is an advertisement for the Enigma. What I am showing interest in, is the ability to do nearly the whole set-up myself with assistance from from IT friends along with some pilots.
  18. I am investigating Al Wick's Glass Cockpit at: http://www.maddyhome.com/canardpages/pages/alwick/index.html If any forum members can make observations, suggestions or even general comments, I would be very pleased to hear them. Al himself will be in Australia later next year. He would make be an interesting guest speaker. Looking forward to comments.
  19. Ian, it was a pleasure to read the email you sent (probably to us all) regarding what will happen with the new site on Wednesday. I am really looking forward to what you have in stall for us. I am also looking forward to receiving my Arion Lightning kit in the new year and will share the joys and heartaches with members of this forum. One other item. I am "taking over" the Galpin sectiuon of this forum from my son. My name is Bill. If I think of it I'll change the details.
  20. I am learning on a Jabiru with the throttle between my legs. I am not having any difficulties with that. Perhaps I lack a "stomach bone" that is large enough!!
  21. Redair, Facthunter makes a valid point, namely, do a lot of homework. In recent days I have taken the plunge and placed an order for the Arion Lightning. It has taken me over 12 months to arrive at this point. I considered and researched more than 12 different aircraft, among which were 2 stol aircraft, the Savanagh and the Zenith 701. I looked at Australian, European and American aircraft. In the end it was the Arion Lightning that measured up to the criteria that I set for myself. The criteria I set was built-up over time from discussing issues with our club members, people in the industry and GA pilots with RAA endorsements. Where possible, I flew the aircraft that were of interest. I might add I have not flown an Arion Lightning as there are none in Australia just yet. They do, however, have some similarities to the Esqual. More could be said, but I think you get the picture. DON'T RUSH!!! Do your home work and keep asking questions. Talk also to people who are currently building their aircraft, whether they be from plans or kits. Please take this for what its worth.
  22. Groundbreaking research continues to uncover fundamental truths about climate that have yet to be incorporated into climate models and predictions. Is that so! I continue to notice in many articles, about climate change, a distinct lack of proof, or reasoned research. Emotive and perhaps pompous expressions, such as "Groundbreaking research," don't cut the mustard. A wise man once told me, when speaking on the hole in the ozone layer, "How do they know there has never been a hole before?" With the many voices, "out there," including Al Gore, then mixed messages will continue to be "landed" upon us. I think I shall go flying now!
  23. If Telstra can bury telehone cables, then what technically is stopping the electricity providers from doing likewise? Or is it more to do with the money!!
  24. I wasn't aware Subaru were devoloping a diesel. Can you provide a reliable web site with information. Thanks
  25. Is someone able to outline the differences and applications between the: GRS and BRS
