  1. Today is the 26th May, still no magazine. Unless I am badly informed and there is a difficulty somewhere, the non-arrival of the May edition shows inept management and a disregard for the members who are the customers. This is the latest period in a month that I have not received our magazine. Please let us have some answers, not excuses.
  2. The aircraft was on show at Avalon. An information sheet was available. Most of the sheet's information is available on the web site.
  3. I really think Jack is looking for something more fundamental than sunshine, rain etc. I found his questions excellent, but sadly I cannot answer them. I too would like to hear something of substance from those in the know.
  4. I'm up to 40 hours to date, over a period of four years. All flying done in different Jabirus.
  5. I had the privilege of looking over this aircraft on the 25th September at Holbrook. It is truly a magnificent looking aircraft. It is hoped that someone will take up the challenge of revisiting and building a new version.
  6. Adrian seeing that Ron can speak "freely" and has a wealth of experience, he could well contribute much to the forum. The aircraft in my avatar is the NZ Furio. A dream aircraft for GA only, unfortunately. My Lightning is all but finished, sadly though it will be going up for sale due to some major health challenges which I have since a triple bypass in April. The aircraft is currently at Kingston where the final touches will be done.
  7. Adrian perhaps you could get another Meningie man to join the forum. I refer to Ron the Savannah owner. Look him up.
  8. Great video, but I cannot hear anything. I am also unable to adjust the volumne, hence no sound. Can anybody help?
  9. Pete, could you tell me what the song is that you put with "The Saving of Heather?" Thanks
  10. Odyssey Odyssey purchased and will be installed into my Lightning in January. I know of one other who is doing the same.
  11. This is a dated site, but it does show both the Fascination and Evolution aircraft. I seem to recall that the company went broke. Google Translate
  12. PLB's Up to where? I was never much good at maths and have lost count of how many have said on this thread that they would order a unit. Being that as it may, how many have said they will order a unit? Where are we up to? Ian, when is the cut-off point for the current round of orders and when should we make payment to Clear Prop?
  13. Count me in for one, Ian. Remember folk we are helping support this site when we order through Clearprop.
  14. Dave, what does "a bit steep" mean? Can you give a ball-park figure we should consider? I am aware of some RAA members who do not insure their aircraft because they consider $3000 plus to be "too steep."
  15. There is a j160 at Kingston SE, SA which has vortex generators attached. The owner is very impressed with performance and handling of his aircraft. It is more stable. As to who this is, I am not at liberty to divulge without his permission.
  16. Ian, would you think a full body wrap could be used? I know it would be expensive, but could it be done without effecting the overall stability of the fiberglass shell of the fuselage and wings of the aircraft. On a hot Wimmera day would a full body wrap be a problem. A full body wrap could have a very interesting design added to it.
  17. Today have been asked whether I would consider doing a complete vinyl wrap (instead of painting) my aircraft (Lightning) by a firm in Melbourne. I have never heard of this before and don't even know if it is viable on a fiberglass aircraft. I know of cars and boats that have been vinyl wrapped. I did a Google search and found a company in Melbourne that does this kind of thing with cars etc. Any suggestions!
  18. Tigerfish, I have just ordered an Odyssey for my Lightning at a cost of just over $7300.00. I researched for nearly 1 year before making my decision. I spoke with such notables as ROM, BrentC and Seal, all members on this site. In the end I settled on the Odyssey after speaking to and emailing Bernard at Asia Pacific Light Flying. I suggest that you give Bernard a ring, his number is shown in his advert in the latest RAA magazine. At the end of the day you must make the decision and be satisfied that you have covered all bases. Happy research days.
  19. Can anybody tell me what the music is on the soundtrack of this Tecnam video?
  20. Lightning Another report on the Arion Lightning would be good. There are now a few flying in Australia.
  21. Deskpilot, Your drawing has a similarity to Molt Taylor's Mini-imp. I used to have the plans, but they were discarded when we last moved. If anyone is thinking about following-up this design there will be a site on the net that will answer some of your questions.
  22. Where is . . .! Where is Darren Masters? He started this thread and contributed much to the forum last year. Haven't heard from him with his unique style and sense of humour for many a long day.
  23. The Smartfish is interesting, been looking at it for at least 5 years. The problem for many is that it will not fit into the LSA category. It will have (in present configuration) a MTOW of 1000kgs and be powered by a jet. I wonder if the developers would consider letting an Aussie develop something here. If that were the case the price wouldn't be "off the planet."
  24. How long will it take to complete!!!! Work on my Lightning is slow. Time is the limiting factor. What instruments do you plan to use? I am still tossing which way to go, however, with the AU $ being so poor against the US $, steam gauges may win the day. Enjoy the project and when finished fly to Horsham Galpin
