  1. For those interested, the Millennium aircraft site is: http://www.millennium-aircraft.com/
  2. Well Ian, I kept it to myself. On my desktop sits a large photo of this aircraft. Been there for a long time. It was one of the aircraft I considered. However, I knew the price would be over 100k, so that disqualified me from further consideration.
  3. Thank you John for your blog and for the response to ADS-B. Most informative. I have taken the liberty of bookmarking your blog site.
  4. Ian, can I "spoil" the party? I know what that aircraft is, as I read-up on it some time ago? I even have a photo of it on my desktop.
  5. Never hold your breathe while waiting for political anything. A voice of experience on that.
  6. I checked this aircraft out some 5 years ago and had emails back and forth with the team at I think it was Riddley university in the USA. It never went into production. Notice that the copyright notice at the bottom of the page is 2005.
  7. Sain, I'm fascinated by what I found in the Website you placed into your last post. I have had a look at sent it off to a builder, and 2 IT professionals, one who has built circuits etc for over 10 years. Thanks
  8. Ian, as I was thinking about your initial post on this topic, I decided to challenge myself on going through all the research again for a new aircraft. This is what I came up with: High Wing - Cessna Sky Catcher, Dallach Evolution, Bilsam Sky Cruiser. Low Wing - Toxo, Vans RV 12 (Vans RV 9A with 750kg), Shark, New Horizons Different - ION There are a few assumptions in my choices here. In particular cost, ease of construction (if I went that way again) and reliability. I would be looking for a new generation engine that ran on JetA. Them's my thoughts, FWIW.
  9. Lightning Blog Well It's time to "bite the bullet" and show you all something of the Arion Lightning. There are now about 12 in Australia at various stages of construction, with only one being completed. One of my sons has set up this Blog, as he didn't think his father could do it. He's probably right. He is the one who will be posting, initially, photos and comments. Go to: http://gfry.no-ip.org/lightning/ Hope you enjoy it Any volunteers for sweat and elbow grease!!:yuk:
  10. It's like the accelerator in your car. Down is for greater power and up for lesser. I have never had a problem with this arrangement. When my Lightning flies (not for a long time yet), the throttle will be on the panel to my left hand. Pushing IN or down will give greater power and pulling it out or letting it up will be for lesser.
  11. I was getting concerned! However, the magazine arrived today, 17th.
  12. Shortly I begin assembling my Lightning. Some has been done, but I must do the bulk of the work. That's all well and good. Down the track I will want to maintain and service my own aircraft, but I need to be TRAINED. Who, therefore, can train me in what I must do?
  13. This is the Horsham Flying Clubs new J230D. It is so new it has yet to fly off its hours before it can be used as a glider tug. If you look closely, you can see 2 mirrors forward of the screen. The aircraft will not only be used for glider duties, but training duties as well.:)

    Jabiru Glider Tug

Horsham Flying Club have just received their new J230C. It is still to fly off some hours and will then be put to the test, probably next week. The prop is a climb prop. Further details when available.
  15. Could I urge all pilots to speak slowly and clearly when using your radio. Countless times I must ask for clarification as a message or call sign has been garbled. Perhaps instructors need to take greater note of students and their radio work.
  16. My wife says NO. She couldn't go shopping and there are no neighbours.
  17. Is the Sonex Aerocarb a viable option for the Jabiru engines? http://www.sonexaircraft.com/orders/accessories.html#aeroconversions
  18. 2 seats, retractible and a blended wing body have kept my brain cells going round. In my radio aircraft days, I often tweaked designs and played around, but never get to the blended wing body. The Manthos will be interesting when it comes, but it is still no blended wing body. Thoughts and designs on this type of aircraft will drive you crazy.;)
  19. Ian what is your secret for weight loss? I have lost 9kg in 1 month. But I have had to eat like a pauper, even though I am on a programme.
  20. Yes please! I would like to se some of those too.
  21. Hello Pud, Dennis Borchardt's Lightning should be painted during March. Two others in WA are being built, and 3 Lightnings are due in Adelaide within days. One of these has my name on it. Can't wait!
  22. Hello Baz, I have been reading your notes and seeing some photos on the Cobra site. Your wealth of experience will be most welcome on this forum.
  23. Is there anyway you can follow-up on this? I agree it looks impressive. Probably an impressive price too.
  24. I have nearly finished my training and all on an LSA55. It is definately exhilarating and you can lose it "real quick." I am told that if you can fly the Jabi LSA55, you can just about fly anything. I suspect these particular aircraft will be phased out, especially from flying schools.
  25. As I will be unable to get to Narromine ( for at least another 6 years), I would welcome the PPT presentations.
