  1. The heavier aircraft you speak of are already on the register, and being used by RAA Pilots now. Would you please give some examples of aircraft that are as you say, already on the register. Speaking with others, including RAA (some time ago), it appears that more than weight is under consideration. An increase in the stall speed is being looked at. Whatever changes will be made, well, we will have to wait and see. Hopefully we will know before the end of the year.
  2. Jo is in Europe till later in September.

    CT Kit

With the increasing number of kit aircraft, are there any moves for the CT to be available in kit form? Checking the AOPA site (http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/regulatory/sport_manufacturers.html) one finds many fascinating aircraft. A pity IMHO that more are not available as kits.
  4. If memory serves, the news last evening ran an item on the closure of Point Cook. It is to close.
  5. Ian, nothing came through as far as the email is concerned from Shelley. I don't usually have problems with images etc. Any thoughts?
  6. I do wonder about NO flaps. I was looking at the Joey 2, but sadly, NO flaps.
  7. Are any of you able to give an update on the Manthos? Picture below
  8. Remember, there are other two seat aircraft that would fit into any proposed new category, low end GA "rust-buckets" not withstanding. Aircraft such as Europa, some RVs, to name two.
  9. You may care to look through the B2 website at http://www.b2engines.com/ It may well be advantageous for someone to keep an eye on items relating to engines at Oshkosh. I think that commences in about a week. Can anyone give a listing of engines under development in Australia/New Zealand?
  10. Yes Bruce, "nasty individuals/organizations." But as Edmund Burke once said: All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing. By all means watch what is happening, but let us not be inactive, passive or mindless, burying our collective heads in who knows what!! I would prefer not to see immolation, rather level-headed members of RA-Aus, GA and Warbirds etc., holding those to account who need it, supporting those who seek the welbeing of aviation and assisting where we can with the abilities we have. Perhaps a new survey is called for which seeks to find those prepared to assist the wellbeing of aviation in our areas of expertise. May the only very limited "puff of smoke" we see be from our aircraft engines as they fire-up. No pun intended with that last comment.
  11. John Gardon wrote in his article, False Dawn? and Paul's article (which is more specific), that one section of the aviation community has "done-the-dirty," so to speak, with regard to what I call a gentleman's agreement at Temora. RA-Aus has been prepared to help other smaller organizations at RA-Aus's expense, only to be basically told later that RA-Aus is not wanted and that some other aviation organization can do it for them. I am being as "kind" as possible here, as this is in the public domain. When you read the articles by John and Paul, you will feel the hurt that comes through what they have written. How long can this continue, where some "bite the hand that feeds" them? Ian PM me if you want more.
  12. What sadness to read what both John Gardon and Paul Middleton wrote in the July edition of the RAA magazine. They both need a medal for what they must put up with. Somewhere, sometime, the aviation community will need to work cohesively or suffer the consequences. We can't afford to have "snipers" prepared to sabotage one part, hoping it will benefit another. Eventually, if the current situation continues, the RA-Aus may have to say, "No more, enough is enough." A sad day that will be if it comes to pass. Galpin
  13. Brett I hope you are not up at 4.18am every morning! That could get scary!
  14. In answer to the above question I suggest you contact the RAAus personel who are dealing with this and ask them for comment. Maybe Chris K could comment. Galpin
  15. I have just come across an RV 6 for sale. One of the photos had the caption: Pressue Recovery Wheel Fairing. Does anybody know what that's all about? I have never heard mention of such a thing.
  16. Bruce, :;)5: Would you please outline a little more on the rotary. I checked the website and it seems very interesting. However you mentioned the engines were expensive, do you know how expensive? What was the canard that was shown in the video? Galpin
  17. Peter, is Peter Clinnick's Zodiac 601 flying yet? The last I saw of it was shortly after Easter. At that time Cliff Banks was working on it. Galpin
  18. Ed I think you will find that this the sportaircraft site is now defunct. I made an enquiry some time ago about an aircraft advertised for sale. It worked OK then, but since going back to this site several times in the last 2 weeks, I find that the site cannot be found. If you have an update, then that would be helpful. Thanks Galpin

    Jabiru Sim

Anyone know of a good Jabiru Simulator which can be downloaded to Flight Sim 2004? A J160 would be nice as that was my training aircraft.
  20. All is quiet on this topic. Are there no further thoughts or information among us? I have emailed John Gardon, but have yet to hear from him or his representative. The question I really want answered is "What will the performance requirements be for this category of aircraft.?"
  21. A subscription to Paul Lamar's Newsletter (free) gives one plenty to read and discuss on the Rotary engine. I am following a thread at the moment which is looking at "Turbo Compounding." This is somewhat beyond me, but it is fascinating to read the various opinions and ideas streaming form others who comment on this continuing development. Have a look at: http://www.rotaryeng.net if you wish. Micgrace your positive comments on the rotary are refreshing. Most comments I hear from "experts" are usually derogatory. Do any of you have an update on Bundaberg's Stubbs Engineering development with a Subaru engine. Something is in the wind. Stubbs were involved with Sub4 in New Zealand. However, they have gone in a different direction with different products.
  22. Forgive me if this has been covered before, but I am new to this site. I will almost certainly commence building a Zodiac CH 601 XL in April. I am aware there are quite a number of Zodiac aircraft in Australia. Is there enough interest to start a forum for this type of aircraft?
  23. What will 720'ish let in... an RV6 is about 750kg's... a 152 must be close... Piper Pacer perhaps, or a Piper Colt, What about a Super Pulsar 100 or a Pulsar 150 or a Super Cruiser with the back seats taken out? There has been discussion on weight, viz 720kg, but what about stalling speeds? Will there be changes here or will the limit still be 45 knots?
