Compulsion, We have the GP 2 aswell, but don't just trust the suction cup mounts on their own. There would be nothing worse than flying at 100+ knts and the GP falls off at whatever altitude you are going to film at. We are still working on a design to mount ours to the strut, and finding something a bit more suitable to secure it to the mount. -Linda

Looking for a good headset - any suggestions?

And that is exactly right. We have Bose. And flying from Victoria to Bundaberg a few times a year, it was worth the investment. -Linda -
Has anyone had problems with Jabiru 2.2 rear seals leaking

Its a great looking plane and like all kit builders you have to iron out the niggles when they are first built, it gives you a greater appreciation for the builders of any plane, kit built or factory. Brian -

Has anyone had problems with Jabiru 2.2 rear seals leaking

Yenn, see earlier posts about this plane, it was an older kit recently finished so it would probably be an earlier problem not rectified due to the time that it took to finish the aircraft, problem didn't just pop up again. Brian -

Mardy, The only problem with oil leaks that I have had has been the oil cooler adaptor oring under the oil filter, when this leaks the oil can travel to the back of the motor very quick, the replacement oring is slightly thicker than the original, if you are having trouble with the rubber seals for the crank and distributor shafts, make sure there is plenty of lube on the sealing/wearing surface when it is installed as it can wear the new seal very quickly. Compulsion. I did an Nav course with Brian to learn how to read the maps etc. I don't fly the plane, but most of the flight planning I do and navigate when we fly which takes alot of the burden off of him. May I suggest your wife do a small Nav course aswell, it is excellent, and I am glad I did it. -Linda

Highly recommend the GoPro Hero 2. Youtube has alot of videos on there with this camera. Jeb Corliss uses it all the time in his base jumps. We are currently making an external mount to go on the wing strut of the Jab. -Linda

Dave, Thanks for that. -Linda

Dave, Great Video! What did you use to get the audio through the headset to the video? We have a GoPro Hero 2 and want to be able to do it. Could you give us some specifications please? Thanks -Linda

Early morning is always the best to fly especially when the temp starts to warm up. As the ground warms the turbulence gets nasty, and can sometimes go upto 10,000 feet When the temp cools down closer to the end of the day, say 5pm onwards it is actually quite pleasant to fly at all levels as the heat is taken out of the ground and cools off. Flying above the inversion layer is always good. Less turbulence there, and it is silky smooth. -Linda

Fred, Queensland really needs to get with the program! We travel regularly to Bundy, my family lives there and we get enough stick about DS when we come up...dark at 5.30pm there is a bit hard to take when it is at least 9pm here and we could still be flying! -Linda

Summer we fly soon as it is dawn, or late afternoon into the early evening...God bless Daylight Savings!! -Linda
