  1. Ok.. I have taken it onboard and can now see your points and I might well start reading them in more detail. Thanks all.
  2. No sorry... not 100% sure but I did read that they are compulsory in Germany so wonder why they would not of written Europe ?
  3. I think they are ONLY compulsory in Germany and as this is being certified RTF in Germany they needed to include it in the design..
  4. Clearly alot did not read my first post at all ! As I said, " I understand that its about looking and learning WHAT WENT WRONG and trying to learn and prevent it " I read all my crash comics, ILAFT, RAA Incidents etc as I want to drum it into my head not to fall fowl of the same tragic events that often lead up to an accident but my main issue being that it really seems to be a very overly pushed subject on this site vs. other aviation forums.. Reading the above reply's I can see some sensible reply's so I appreciate your input.
  5. I have only been a member of this fine forum for a short time but I pretty shocked that its almost seems like each time I log on there is another post of a prang.. they happen.. we all know.. but I don't get this with Motorbike forms ( which lets admit is FAR more dangerous ) or other racing forums. Like any pilot I understand that its about looking and learning WHAT WENT WRONG and trying to learn and prevent it but I for one find it annoying.... Can i suggest a dedicated part of the forum for this purpose please ? That way, if you like reading them.. you still can but its not in ya face each time.
  6. After watching the full video of the Espyder... It states a build time of 300 hours !! I realized it was in kit form but may thats a REAL kit ! and 40k for that. Hmmm...
  7. I totally agree with you here !! Actually, the Egull to me seems lightyears ahead of most. The motor of choice for the Egull is the Joby line of motors ( http://www.jobymotors.com/ ) and they have just released a 30kw version so now that should give the Egull a real power boost.
  8. I have been following the progress of the Espyder from Day one as I have a real desire to introduce electric aircraft to the Australian market. I think they " yuneek " have done a great job with this layout and it sure looks like its a very viable aircraft.. But yeah, 40k for a kit, be it complete sure sounds expensive to me. As the Australian dealer for Flynano I can tell you that people will find this very expensive.. not saying they would not sell but I cant see them selling in any real numbers. Having just finished our Hanger with some pretty powerful solar power it would be a perfect addition for me... If I could afford it ! Here is a picture from one Espyder when they performed a formation flight at Airventure last week.
  9. Not afraid of them... :-) But yeah.. your not allowed to do any training if your not the builder and Im not. Said this 3 times now.
  10. As I said.. That i learnt that there is a real need to get your touch town speed right !
  11. Is that right ? Does not seem fair considering the HKS 700e is offered at $9500 USD and is build " next door " in japan. http://www.bushwhackerair.com/hksspecs.html Re Flynano - Yes, the lower Euro has indeed increased the price. That is of course completly out of our control. As a currency trader, I can tell you that no one has a clear crystal ball when it comes to FX predictions. Having said that, it will be priced close to the Euro amount advertised by the factory. Yes, I have lots more information about the V2 and can tell you it is indeed progressing well. When relevant, I will make an official product launch but that will be after my one arrives here and is on the register. I would love to tell more but as the dealer, must respect the wishes of the factory as they somewhat jumped the gun with less than spectacular results. That said, it is a very revolutionary concept and I always anticipated at least one POC and prototype test bed would be needed - What I can say is 40 have been pre ordered. Interest in the Ozi market has been very pleasing indeed but I will not except any direct orders until it is a proven concept. I was never of fan of Jim Beedee`s sell now... worry later techniques ! I would never replicate that poor business model.
  12. Same - I know this history of the company ( Highlander designer used to work there I believe ) but there is not THAT much on youtube. This is a pretty good over view of the kit. My offering will hopefully some day be offered as a two seater. Lets get the single seat to market first !
  13. You could do it for under 40k AUD with a Rotax 912 80 hp. This IS a tandem design but to be honest, it looks more like a 1 + 1 so you can throw you mate/wife in the back for a fun sigh seeing flight but would not want to go far IMHO. As far as I can tell, it includes EVERYTHING less paint, panel and power train. The 91280 is about 17k I think. HKS is less than 10k so you could build one with the Rotax 912 for 40k AUD.
  14. Out of Interest and since I will be offering a RTF Single seat aircraft to the Ozi market, Do people feel the above is a very affordable package ?
  15. My Jabiru training was 15 years ago and it tough me I HATED the throttle position. I have not reached between my legs that often since I was 15 But, it did teach me speed management, Slipping and that 3 Nts makes alot of difference to a good landing and a go around !
  16. Negative ! I called and spoke to them again and they confirmed 100% that as I'm not the builder. I'm not allowed to do any training, nor type endorsement in the my Highlander. How silly is THAT ! Surely, its the safest way to get me comfortable in my own plane.
  17. I called the RAA about this and was told as Im not the builder... Im not allowed to do this ! Is this not correct ?
  18. Having just bought a Highlander, and not currently current I'm planning on doing some hours on a lightwing as I feel that should get me comfortable on the highlander. Whats peoples thoughts on the LW as a good trainer ? I would of done it but the Rego has not yet come though from RAA. So its a waiting game.
  19. I`m always interested in low cost, safe rugged kitplanes and the SkyRaider looks really interesting for a fun fly plane. Looks cheap too ! $14k for a 400 hour pre welded kit. Add an HKS 700 ( 60 Hp ) 4 stoke aero engine, paint and basic panel and 30-35k could have you flying. http://skyraiderllc.com/main.htm
  20. Add me to the list as well. Been riding Bikes since I was 15.. so 20 year !
  21. EPIC !! And that's there day job ! Love how at the bottom of one of the loops the Lead P-38 pilot cant help but smile... Thanks for posting that.
