  1. On the 170 look for a couple of things if it is not charging; 1. There are two wires coming from the stator down to the regulator. There are probably two joins in them with spade terminals. Look for a poor joint where it may be discoloured. The regulator connection is another hot joint point and it is often missed when looking as the plastic hides the poor connection. 2. Under the dash there is a relay on the LHS (if I recall correctly). Check if this relay energises when the key is turned on. I went on the Jab site and found the charging system wiring diagram when my 230 had issues and found the information easy to understand and simple to fault find. Cheers
  2. I have a Jab 230 which was VH registered. Rego was cancelled, application was processed and RAA registered. Renewal arrived 12 mths later and no longer compliant due to C of A being for VH and not for RAA. Re-certify by Darren B and rego is correct again. Annoying and costly, but 'them's the brakes'. I always believe that we just need to get on with life and get over the issue. When the issue was resolved I wrote to the appropriate people, gave my opinion to assist them in future decisions if they wanted any input from members then let it go.
  3. I have the IQ bluetooth headset and have paired the iphone to an adaptor that plugs into this. First tried it last week and was a success. When playing music on the phone it did not mute when any radio calls came in so will have to look at the settings before next flight. Otherwise, a good accessory.
  4. Why would you say that Pylon? I think the concept is a good one.
  5. Can you give some numbers please Phil? Speed, Revs etc......
  6. We use "life360" on the iphone. Works good if you do not go too high to be out of range of towers. About 6000 & it sometimes drops out. Also gets confused if there is a built up area below and there are a number of towers close by. Still good to use for us however. Only used it to 350 miles to date.

    Jab twin

Was below 30 deg here again today. Still a bit cold for the locals to endure. Should warm up soon but we may lose the great flying weather that winter brings. On the bright side, the warmer weather will send all the Grey Nomads home and the roads will be less congested.

I was waiting for the first negative comment even if it was in jest!! It is starting to be similar to the Holden - Ford war of words amongst the fans....... I shake my head at the passion put into some of the posts about Jab engines, both for and against. I do like the twin however. Wonder how it would handle.

  10. I came across this site some time ago. It has a different format as in showing the answer when selected instead of emailing the answer back to you. Good for the students that they are trying to attract. http://www.airborne-aviation.com.au/resources/practice-exams-and-quizzes.php
