  1. Welcome Hasse - I take my hat off for people who build their own planes. A very big commitment and I wish you success. Don't be afraid to ask if you are stuck on the project as there are some quite knowledgeable people on the forum.
  2. Mmnnn...... It was an image. I'll try again. I just realised something; My dog sleeps about 20 hrs a day He has his food prepared for him - It is provided at no cost to him He visits the Dr. once a year and more often if his medical needs arise - For this he pays nothing and nothing is required of him He lives in a nice neighbourhood in a house that is much larger than he needs and is not required to do anything toward the upkeep If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up He has a choice of luxurious places to sleep - he receives these accommodations absolutely free He lives like a king and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever All of his costs are picked up by others who work for a living I was just thinking about this and suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks . . . My dog is a Politician
  3. It gets a bit difficult to find jokes that do not upset some people. We'll try this one......
  4. Well well - many happy returns......
  5. Good thing Geoff. There may be times where you doubt yourself and the progress that you have made but hang in there. It is a great feeling when you do your first solo. Keep at it....
  6. Lighten up guys - It was just a joke. I can feel your stress levels rising from here......
  7. Sensible comment Johnm but I find it difficult to overlook an arm full of tatoos or numerous items of jewlery on the candidates face. One guy turned up the other day with blue painted fingernails. I am just not that liberal. We service people of my own age group in the main whom, I believe, would have similar attitudes to my own. However apart from all that, there is no denying that community attitudes are changing toward all that I have mentioned. Perhaps I'll retire before I catch up with the attitudes of the oncoming generations. Future Projection: The next thriving industry may be tatoo removal
  8. An old theme but still quite well compiled!! Rather long though. The Squirrel and The Grasshopper REST OF THE WORLD VERSION The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building and improving his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the squirrel is warm and well fed. The shivering grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold. THE END THE AUSTRALIAN VERSION The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the squirrel is warm and well fed. A social worker finds the shivering grasshopper, calls a press conference and demands to know why the squirrel should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others less fortunate, like the grasshopper, are cold and starving. The ABC shows up to provide live coverage of the shivering grasshopper; with cuts to a video of the squirrel in his comfortable warm home with a table laden with food. The Australian press informs people that they should be ashamed that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so while others have plenty. The Labour Party, Greenpeace, Animal Rights and The Grasshopper Housing Commission of Australia demonstrate in front of the squirrel's house. The ABC, interrupting a cultural festival special from St Kilda with breaking news, broadcasts a multi cultural choir singing 'We Shall Overcome'. Bill Shorten rants in an interview with Laurie Oakes that the squirrel got rich off the backs of grasshoppers, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the squirrel to make him pay his 'fair share' and increases the charge for squirrels to enter Melbourne city centre. In response to pressure from the media, the Government drafts the Economic Equity and Grasshopper Anti Discrimination Act, retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The squirrel's taxes are reassessed. He is taken to court and fined for failing to hire grasshoppers as builders, for the work he was doing on his home, and an additional fine for contempt when he told the court the grasshopper did not want to work. The grasshopper is provided with a Housing Commission house, financial aid to furnish it and an account with a local taxi firm to ensure he can be socially mobile. The squirrel's food is seized and re-distributed to the more needy members of society - in this case the grasshopper. Without enough money to buy more food, to pay the fine and his newly imposed retroactive taxes, the squirrel has to downsize and start building a new home. The local authority takes over his old home and utilises it as a temporary home for asylum seeking cats who had hijacked a plane to get to Australia as they had to share their country of origin with mice. On arrival they tried to blow up the airport because of Australians' apparent love of dogs. The cats had been arrested for the international offence of hijacking and attempted bombing but were immediately released because the police fed them pilchards instead of salmon whilst in custody. Initial moves to make then return them to their own country were abandoned because it was feared they would face death by the mice. The cats devise and start a scam to obtain money from people's credit cards. A 60 Minutes special shows the grasshopper finishing up the last of the squirrel's food, though spring is still months away, while the Housing Commission house he is in, crumbles around him because he hasn't bothered to maintain it. He is shown to be taking drugs. Inadequate government funding is blamed for the grasshopper's drug 'Illness'. The cats seek recompense in the Australian courts for their treatment since arrival in Australia. The grasshopper gets arrested for stabbing an old dog during a burglary to get money for his drugs habit. He is imprisoned but released immediately because he has been in custody for a few weeks. He is placed in the care of the probation service to monitor and supervise him. Within a few weeks he has killed a guinea pig in a botched robbery. A commission of enquiry, that will eventually cost $10 million and state the obvious, is set up. Additional money is put into funding a drug rehabilitation scheme for grasshoppers. Legal aid for lawyers representing asylum seekers is increased. The asylum seeking cats are praised by the government for enriching Australia's multicultural diversity and dogs are criticised by the government for failing to befriend the cats. The grasshopper dies of a drug overdose. The usual sections of the press blame it on the obvious failure of government to address the root causes of despair arising from social inequity and his traumatic experience of prison. They call for the resignation of a minister. The cats are paid $1 million each because their rights were infringed when the government failed to inform them there were mice in Australia. The squirrel, the dogs and the victims of the hijacking, the bombing, the burglaries and robberies have to pay an additional percentage on their credit cards to cover losses, their taxes are increased to pay for law and order, and they are told that they will have to work beyond 65 because of a shortfall in government funds.
  9. I am very proud of everyone on this forum. Since this thread started I have been waiting for a comment that suggested that maybe some of the participants who comment may not be successful in job interviews, given the grammar.... Well done in keeping it to external people, away from the forum!!! Cheers
  10. An old school teacher ofter quoted; "Manners maketh the man" & "A man's character is often judged by his handshake" so I believe that your comment was spot on Chocolate.
  11. Congrats Beefy - It is something to remember for a long while. I was at a flyin yesterday the topic came up in conversation and everyone in the group I was with remembered the thrill of the experience. I hope it is the start of many hours of flying pleasure for you (and your lady in the avitar)
  12. Are we able to ignore or "simply" mark as read threads that we are not interested in? For example, I am sure that a number of people enjoy the Never Ending Story however after looking at it a number of times it holds little interest for me. At the present time I select "Whats New?" and read only the ones that I wish to read. Is it possible to ignore these at an early stage so they do not appear on the "Whats New?" list?
  13. I just use an automotive car polish. It removes both Mogas & Avgas stains on the paint.
  14. I altered this a while ago to keep up with the times; Specticals, Testicals, Mobile Phone, Wallet & Watch. Most times I still forget at least one of them........
  15. Is it a one of miss on climb or is it all the time? Have a look at this cobra head modification that fixed the issue on my 230. I spoke with Jabiru and they suggested I try it when I discussed with them. http://www.jabiru430.com/EngineCoolingimages.html The site has a good write up on it but my miss was at full power on climb and only on cool days. Always gave me the impression that there was carby ice from taxi movement.
  16. Item on Discovery channel right now about the flight. Interesting so far. Probably be repeated again if you missed it.
  17. Mmnnnn.... Does not look like Starke nor Donnington & I have never flown over Montpellier so cannot say if it is that, but will take a stab at it. Am out of the country and cannot access Google Earth so hard to research. Montpellier??? Or are you talking much further west.....
  18. I use "Printer Lite". It allows the iPad to print on the home computer via wifi. Have not checked why it is not to scale size as yet but that is the only issue I can see with it. Before finding that printer program on the net I would also do as suggested above. Do a screen shot (press on/off button and screen close button together) and email to the home computer and then print.
  19. Sticks & Stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me! Some days your the dog, somedays the hydrant.
  20. I have a theory with what should happen at the border crossing into Qld by mexicans of all types. We tip them all upside down until all the money drops out. Tell them they have had a great time; they must have as they have no money left, then send them home again, happy as a lark. The money gets distributed across the state. Benefits include, less darn caravans on the highway doing 80kph and less whinging about how much better things are back home.
  21. On a similar note has anyone else had an issue with the showing of runways on the flight plan map. It was showing there before the last update and now I can select or deselect the tab but it does not show. Is it possible that it will only show when moving toward the destination?
  22. I had a similar issue but only when I used he EQ headset and the pax used the standard set. Speaking to the tech guy after being concerned I ended up turning the VOX of the headset to the lowest setting. I could then use the standard squelsh setting in the aircraft and the ghosting noises and issues went away. I had an issue separate to the EQ as well where it was opening the mute on the pax mike of the headset that ended up being the air from the RHS door vent. Just has to turn the vent to remove any air being directed near the occupants.
  23. Frank - I drove past Deeral yesterday and was looking for where your strip could be positioned. Where is it in relation to the road, further east or tucked up on the western side near the range? Have you any aerial shots that can be posted ?
