  1. Hospitality,,,,,mmmm seems at odds with your trolling ways FT
  2. Did a trip through outback NSW/QLD recently, a mate in a baron had constant dramas with over heating, I didn't have any, I also had a vent directed at it aswell, Matty
  3. I use a knee pad, I roll it over to the side for takeoff and landing , got it from spruce in the states, very good and no over heating issues, Matty
  4. Yeh I know, there's been a couple of threads like this lately, and I've been in there participating, the only thing I can think of is that there's a lot of frustration out there with the way the world is going , Matty
  5. oops, didn't read the question right , thought it said controlled,,,,,,sorry, I'll be off now Matty
  6. I know what you mean, I got bills to, I also think the economics of the region will do that anyway(reduce standard of living) over the next few decades simply because we're a small population with a large land mass surrounded by people who will work for food,,,,it's a vicious circle ,we want a better wage so the costs go up, we then need more dosh to survive at the level we like, wages go up, costs go up, wages go up , then it becomes pointless for manufacturers to bother with us,,,, Matty
  7. With the fabrication work I do I've got some anti gaule handy whenever I use stainless, you can do ten bolts trouble free then the next five will seize , a question Maj ,do you torque the an3 - an4 size bolts with a torque wrench or just by feel? Matty
  8. As it comes out what the Holden workers were getting paid it's no wonder they pulled the pin,,,these are basically low skilled workers who would be on $20 an hour in a non union factory, getting 2-3 times that is just plain ridiculous, nice , but unsustainable, Matty
  9. Well not so well controlled, there was a lot of fuel tankers and trucks sitting around last year from corner cutting,,,,and they were the ones that got caught! Matty
  10. A VTC or VNC should give you that info, as long as you can maintain minimum heights you can be pretty close, I haven't looked for it but from memory you have to have 1 nm "planned" distance, for day VFR Matty Just had a look at the VFR flight guide, 1 nm up 2000 agl and 2nm up to 5000 agl,
  11. CASA has existed under both sides of our political parties, and has never got better, leaner ,fairer or interested in the GA arena, it's simply not in the vocabulary of buearocrats to want the focus of their regulation to prosper, survive kind of ,but not prosper. When an industry is growing and prospering it's hard to control ,and CASA is all about control, Matty
  12. I hadn't heard the cause of the P51 crash, Matty
  13. Should've let you answer for me ,since you tune mine,,, Matty
  14. Grass and gravel, I also have pretty draggy tyres so it will roll along nicely without brakes while taxiing, and it'll sit there no brakes at idle, I've actually had it stop on me by pulling a bit hard on the throttle on final, it's possible to bend stuff if your a bit heavy handed , it might actually idle a bit lower than that, 1800 maybe, I very rarely let it just idle Matty Just had a look at one of my utube vids,,, 1800 on the ground,,,,like I said I very rarely just let it sit there idling
  15. 2000 rpm, but I never just let it sit there and bang away in the gearbox , always taxi at 2200-2300 and warm up at 3000 Matty
  16. Is it right for day VFR pilots to use these points?, up home occasionally the RPT would call the waypoints on the in ,as a local I knew them ,but it really meant nothing if you didn't know the area , they're not common here in Melbourne either, I use some of them for navs, mostly as a point to fly at but I've never made calls using the wpt name , just the geographic name Matty
  17. I use the same technique , I got in the habit of just kicking it around but find it more accurate to have a stabilised approach nowadays Matty
  18. I watched a fella at YCEM recently have about four goes at getting an aerobat in, every time he rounded out he let the windward wing lift a bit ,then bam the wind got under it and blew him off the runway,,,,it was a challenging day but he seemed to make that one error over and over, eventually got it down but it was quite a show,,,,three go a rounds gets everyone spectating, Matty And great graphics, very well done video!
  19. It's all to easy ;) ,just need a kick ass maule and you can use your back yard,,,,,,,, Matty
  20. There was a training facility at the Hervey Bay airport, they might be there still and could do a trial flight with you ,give Mike at the Hervey Bay aeroclub a call he might be able to direct you to them Matty
  21. I go into a mates place that's a bit more than 450m sometimes, his strip is all about nailing the speed and being in the right place at the right time, I'd say it depends on the approach and the go around room, most of our lighties will get in and out on that but you can't stuff around floating along while the runway disappears behind you, I spent ( and still am ) a few hours practicing putting the wheels down exactly where I wanted them before going into his place,
  22. Saturday looked like a good day to be on the ground over our way ( which I sadly am for awhile) today was nice from reports, a bit bumpy but doable, Matty
  23. Quite a story mate, do you have much uncontrolled airspace in the UK? Matty
  24. There's a mob in bundaberg has a bit of jabiru experiance
  25. You don't use water and detergent on the fabric? Just mr Sheen ? Does it get the bugs off okay? Any reason for no using water like a car ? Matty
