  1. Im not bold either!!!...If I was, I wouldnt be worried about the thread topic:)
  2. Hey!!! I'm not that old.. I'm not even 40 yet..... Doesn't mean I'm a spring chicken either... It's not the years, it's the mileage..:)
  3. I'm not sure, but we didn't light the fire, it was always burning;)
  4. Yes, I've read all the propaganda from ALL sides oscar, it doesnt mean I have to agree. If it is true, and the raa get sunk by Jabs " problems" well then there will be a few thousand slightly upset natives hey? Let's not forget what this is all about ay?
  5. And what about the ones that DO send them in Jabs? Recreational aviation has always been an "at your own risk" activity. Never, EVER has the Govt stepped in and TOLD us there is an unreasonable risk, until now. I dont agree with your views (attempts) that would see the entire RAA on the deck of the floundering ship.
  6. Yes, but greiging didnt have the same ring to it. Baching, sounded better:)
  7. Yes, plenty of Bach to come:)
  8. Sweet, its the riddle me this thread now..I wont use riddles tho.. The time to stop this action is long passed. Too little, been done too late. What we need to do is learn to operate "with the restrictions" and limitations. The people in the game need to get things back on track. Those people, unfortunately, are NOT The RAA, or the board, or 'sanctimonious few, or the Committee of 6.. The ball is now well and truly in Jabs court. Where some would argue, it has been for years.. But now they either play at it, or let it scoot passed. Either way, the owners and operators are now stuck with some pretty sketchy limitations UNTIL something is sorted. Time to suck it up, move on and deal with it.
  9. Tell me all about it nev. Lots of people are in the same boat, and we have all questioned the process. The solutions won't be found in forums posts bagging out people's motives or intentions.
  10. God, around and around we go.. Its the holidays boys, go flying or something. Complaining about people complaining isnt a good way to spend you holidays!!
  11. My head gets firmly applied to the desk when I hear, and read this sort of thing. geoff, Im sure you have a great attitude already towards this sort of thing, but just to make doubly sure you are not lead astray by your FTF and the people you have been talking to. MTOW is a very real number that ALL pilots in ALL aircraft should not only be aware of, but abide by STRICTLY!!!! Its not something to be messed with, if for NO other reason, in the event you have a prang you can kiss your insurance goodbye if you are over weight. Secondly, CASA can and will ramp you, and if you answer the q, like the guys in your first post, well then expect a nice letter from them which starts with the line " We have made recommendation to the RAA that your privileges as PIC be suspended" Thirdly, if you fly + MTOW, you are essentially a test pilot, as the aeroplane's performance is now outside its design envelope. Sure, it may fly quite happily, but the way it behaves may vary quite significantly. Further to this, the C of G is rated at MTOW with Pilot and Pax and BAGGAGE etc being UNDER MTOW (Useful load) so there is no garuntee's you are within the design CofG range (a very scary thing indeed) Lastly, and probably the most significantly, if we are to hold the concept of "airmenship' with due regard, then knowingly flying outside a design limitation puts us on the bottom end of the 'airmen' scale IMHO, and if we are prepared to either bend this rule, or not care about it enough to even KNOW the numbers, then im afraid we are just accidents looking for a place to happen.
  12. I keep saying...Never pick a fight you're not sure you are gunna win!!..
  13. Nope. I'm the type of person that understands you can't beat the man.
  14. The minister has the Forsyth report. Why do we think out gripes are going to do anything? Casa seem to be acting in exactly te same way I have come to 'expect' they would. Casa react to criticism of their actions like a spoiled child, they will just jack up and prove to you who is boss. All the dealings I hve had with them over the years had taught me, yes sir, no sir, 3 bags full sir... Pointing out what we see as ' injustice' won't do jack.
  15. I dont think CASA are in close communication with anyone. The board and RAA were not informed of the decision to implement the rule, we had to find out like everyone else, through the CASA website "news".
  16. RAAus have xmas too? Maybe?
  17. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but why do we think te camit engine is " an" answer? How do we know it's a better engine?
  18. How many CAMit engines are there flying today? Any numbers?
  19. Thats not what Rod stiff says. He claims the minute you modify it, its not a Jab. Check out his Facebook page. Does that part apply to LSA Oscar?
  20. So? We should just accept it and move on and use "cheap training" as a basis for deciding where to go? Where would any profession be if everyone did it for free? I used to like the fact my Qantas captain was paid squillions, made me feel all warm and fuzzy knowing he was at the top of his profession. Now days, I have 22 year old 2nd officers calling me asking for instructing work cause they cant live on the 40k they are getting.
  21. No, but it certainly doesnt mean your training is better either:) How would it be for your industry if everyone offered the service for free or next to it?
  22. Yes nev. It often is, and it's often not accepted too, unfortunately. I've worked at schools that do conversions, and I can tell you without any shadow of a doubt, there is a huge difference in standards. Regardless of what the cerificate says, what matters is the skills and ability you posses.. If the poo hits the fan, it's not the cerificate that saves you mate;)
  23. Possibly mate. Pretty scary. It certainly is true, but a standard must be reached and demonstrated.
  24. I disagree. There can be a huge diff in the certificate your issued.
