  1. Rod used to fly from Tumut, he flew his aircraft for the Mad Max scenes. His machine was painted up as was another that was used for the close shots, from memeory it was hung from the roof of a Bankstown hanger. I think Rods machine was EVY. Rod flew Beavers for years for Aerial Agriculture before setting up on his own flying the Airtruck. Last I heard he was going well living in the hills from Tumut and hasn't flown for mebe 15 or so years.
  2. Numbers have never bin my strong point :D
  3. Sooo how'd it go? The old farts from Kempsey turn up?
  4. Musta had a big load in, that thing should perform better than that
  5. I'd rather not put the airframe in the position of iminent failure
  6. Don't believe everything you see on the net. That footage I think was from a discovery channel "Reinactment", showed the F15 landing with one wing missing with full flap on the other wing!!!!!! No rudder deflection either and at a normal landing attitude with the mid fuse spoiler out. I have seen the incident represented with photo's as well. With one wing (Not just part of) gone there's no way an F15 could land without making a smoking hole in the ground, no matter how much power you have on tap. I believe we should have bought a shipload of F15's instead of a handfull of the JSF's. F15 with fast packs had a range almost as good as an F111.
  7. I saw one of those operate out of Bisbane years ago, took the whole length of airstrip to get off and headed out over the bay leaving a black sooty trail like it had a cargo of burning tyres. You could still see the sooty trail wafting out to the North East fifteen minutes after it departed.:D
  8. I agree, everyone should practice it. Standard old "Glide approach" with throttle off like they used to do in the old days is good practice as well. This blokegoes one better than a dead stick landing, would have taken a deep breath to do it the first time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=videoseries
  9. Yip, loogin at those again they are it's cept normally written 29'08.700 150'43.500
  10. Just for reference sake you can change the Lat/Long format in google earth. Most are now using hddd' mm.mmm That's degrees and decimal minutes. Apart from those that use map references even Gov. dept.s are using that now.
  11. At least she wasn't wearing a flak jacket ;)
  12. Love to K but I'll be on standby till the end of March and depending on how the weather goes mebe later. I'm sure yool have a good time :)
  13. Ya realise yoo become an old fart at 50 K, :p All the best
  14. A comparison would be old mate doing beat ups then hitting the water in his Saphire. Good clean harmless fun? Didn't hurt anybody so it's OK? Everyone know's there's an odd yobo flying RAA but that's OK cause he was just letting of some steam? With the Jones's thing if you read further they operate 40+ Aircraft, do you think there might be a bit more to this than just some clueless bureacrat having a go at some great bloke for having a good time? As I said we are free to fly the way we do within the rules, we are all under the same rules. If you go back into the not too distant past you will remember how hard it was to fly light Aircraft, that is available to many people now. If you fly WITHIN the rules.
  15. That's a pun Dazza? If you go further into the article there is more involved than an isolated incident. GA is the same as RAA, you have rules if you want such freedom to fly. To me the issue is more a legal mine field, they are not arguing if he did it or not, the huge money is spent finding if the evidence they have to use was attained to the letter of the law and can be used. The more bottom feeding, scum sucking, low life parasite legal mercenaries are involved on both sides of any argument the more we lose.
  16. For Sale: 182 parachute door, some slight skin wrinkles, boot marks all over interior, 16 spare cylinders (Cracks can be welded). Only done 15 hours in the last 12 months (In the log book anyway)
  17. Was taught the 1 nin 60 rule when I started flying for a living over 30 years ago. Haven't used it since, have covered most of this country including remote/desert work never used it.
  18. Somebody just happened to fulluming a hand start
  19. No offence ment Darren, thanks for the suggestion
  20. As I said i have no problem with any other sites, on another computor with adsl attached is the same, jumpy and delayed. I have no trouble with cookie, chocolate chic or any other kind.
  21. I think a machine with the capabilities of a Herk would be a lot easier than say landing an unmodified Vampire on a VERY short pommie aircraft carrier deck like Mr Brown did.
  22. Dunnoooo what I view the W's with, some thing orn the side of my putor, as I said I have no trouble with any other website I visit, just thus one
  23. Is every thing dramatised and over accentuated these days? Look at some of the cable stuff and everything from flying in Alaska to reposessing cars has major drama and unspeakable (That's spoken of frequently) danger. If that little parcel isn't delivered then the companies folding, what about deliver it tomorrow? These cable "Entertainment" shows have a bit to answer for, having said that there is some nice footage of aircraft doing some pretty neat stuff. I think the dangerous side is being overplayed for the drama.
