  1. Hi all,

I have an MGL V6 radio installed in my trike and I use it in conjunction with flycom integrated helmet/ headsets .

All works really well except if I try to transmit with the pax headset plugged in, then it sounds like I'm talking down a pipe and is almost unreadable to other stations, if I pull the plug on the pax and then transmit, back to 5/5.

While researching what could be the problem, I read that if you transmit with a poor or damaged aerial some of the power will go back to the radio and may damage it.

A while ago ( when I think about it, it would be about the time this started) I had the joint in my coax come apart where the mast is connected to the wing, and I know I tried to transmit when in this condition ( I didn't know it had come apart).

    My questions are :

Could the damage this can cause, be the reason for the symptom I have?

    If so, is it repairable

    Thanks

    Regards Bill

  2. I asked the mechanics to get one done on my tractor when it kept blocking hydraulic filters. No, no nothing wrong with the tractor they say, must be your implements, I say, other tractor uses same implements and it's ok.

$17000.00 later the tractor has a new brake disc and all the bits of the old one cleaned out of it.068_angry.gif.cc43c1d4bb0cee77bfbafb87fd434239.gif

They either lied about having the oil sample tested, or oil sampling is useless 032_juggle.gif.8567b0317161503e804f8a74227fc1dc.gif

  3. It's about clearances to enter and leave airspace, accurate tracking, navigation and height keeping and position reporting with proper radio procedures. . CTA is often over country you shouldn't be flying over . Just get through it, when it's in your way and fly OCTA and be more relaxed and keep a good look outside. Nev

That's the skills side of the equation.

I maintain, the medical is to increase the likelihood that you will be in a fit state to control your aircraft when in the vicinity of places you are likely to find lots of people or valuable assets.

Many of the places quoted by P4d are there due to the skills part rather than the medical.

  4. That would be built up areas, not CTA.No access to CTA means you fly over the primary school at 2500' instead of 4500'.

This gave me a good laugh. At YRED when landing on 07, you are basically flying into a school on the base leg!!

Ok, I'll be a little more specific, it's about minimising the potential for damage caused by you when you have the heart attack, i.e keeping you out of heavily populated areas, areas where other aircraft carrying large amounts of passengers tend to gravitate to, you know, that sort of thing.

  5. Sarah goes out one day and buys a brand new stud rooster for her chicken coop. The rooster struts over to old Butch and says, 'OK, old fart, time to retire.'

Old Butch replies,' come on, you can't handle ALL these chickens. Look what it's done to me. Can't you just let me have the two old hens over in the corner?'

The young rooster says, 'Beat it! You're washed up and I'm taking over.' Old Butch says 'I'll tell you what, young stud, I'll race you around the farmhouse. Whoever wins gets exclusive domain over the entire chicken coop.'

The young rooster laughs, 'You know you don't stand a chance old man, so just to be fair, I'll give you a head start. 'Old Butch takes off running. About 15 seconds later the young rooster takes off after him. They round the front of the farmhouse and the young rooster has closed the gap.

He's already about 5 inches behind the Butch and gaining fast. Sarah, meanwhile, is sitting on the front porch when she sees the roosters running by. She grabs up her shotgun and BOOM!, she blows the young rooster to bits.

Sarah sadly shakes her head, 'Damn,...third gay rooster I bought this month.'
