  1. Thanks mate, as I transferred across to HGFA WM from PPL I was just trying to get a feel if all disciplines go through the same Nav exercises and theory as PPL.
  2. So just a thought, is there much difference between what you cover doing Navs for a GA PPL and for RA Cert?
  3. Hi Mate, I did a PPL some time ago at Jandakot and have now transferred to and bought my own Microlight. I'm happy to have a chat if you you want to call (i'll PM you my number) it'll just be far easier than rattling it all into a long winded text, and also I can ask you some questions about what you want out of it, if that helps.
  4. Hi Mikey, Give Simon a call and see if he can help you out. let me know how you go. Simon Shuttleworth WA ALBANY [email protected] 0427 950 556
  5. I subscribed, loaded it onto my original Ipad with no sim slid it into my existing knee folder and bingo works great, can still operate the screen and it tracks fine. Whats more, love it :-) although still getting used to some of the settings.
  6. LOL. yes, so so true. I am very much a black and white analytical type of person so the whole RaAus/HGFA thing does my head in when it comes to WM.... anyway, I'm learning to let it flow over me, woooooshaaaaaa, woooosshaaaaa. :-)
  7. Well for what its worth I transferred from PPL GA to WM (Weightshift Microlight) RPC or RPL or whatever it is with HGFA and I'm even more confused and dumbfounded these days by the whole Licence/Certificate thing but even more so the whole allowed/not allowed crossover between RaAus and HGFA both of which fly WM ? Example is, it appears that an I can complete my BFR with and RaAus Instructor and submit it to HGFA but I cant have said RaAus member complete my Biannual Maintenance Inspection, that MUST be completed by an HGFA Rotax Approved Person, which I am, but I cant do my own as it needs to be someone independent ?? WTF :-)
  8. G'day S.J. Hunter, Nice to see another 'local'. :-)
  9. LOL, thank Soleair, yes it is quietly comforting to fly along picking out the best looking ones in case of an emergency, just about anywhere would do if the need arose. Not too much of that in the Blue Mountains eh :-)
  10. Don't tell her Mike, just practice your surprised look for when you pull into the park :-)
  11. Something form last Sunday for you guys.
  12. Sounds great, definitely will. Hopefully fly down in something. My trike would need to refuel along the way :-) otherwise I'd do it.
  13. Keen! as mustard, count me in, it'd be like the old days, Hit up Min for a Warrior......
  14. Nice. I too did my PPL with Min I was pretty much about her second Licence when she started I had been flying with Phoenix prior to that and in Carnarvon prior to that. I was using Lake Clifton for a little while but now hanger the Trike at White Gum Farm York, they have a great facility for RA, accommodation, camp kitchen etc and now the White Gum Airpark is taking shape. They have plenty of runways but 09 is great and suitable for most ac. Yes, Microlights certainly get the wind in your hair (so to speak) and is lots of fun (most of the time). Keep in touch, would be good to catch up sometime, the social flying scene needs work here. Cheers Craig
  15. G'day Mike, God to see another Sandgroper here. Who do you fly with and what do you fly. I used to fly out of YPJT then sort of gave it up as it became more costly and hard to justify. Now flying Trikes as a bit more affordable.
  16. For what its worth I'll have my say. I love this site, and I love reading the input across the varied Geographic locations all in the one place. One thing I am confused about is that I see plenty of mention throughout the site and this post with regards to RAAus but I am right in thinking that this site is an independent site right? And yet I never see any mention of the likes of say HGFA who have a larger Microlight membership than RAAus. Anyway, enough said, change will happen regardless so no point in me spending hours getting hot under the collar about changes that I don't agree with, when its all done and dusted I will re-appraise and if it loses its appeal then I'll just stop visiting. Thanks for the great site to date.
  17. Hi Turboplanner and thanks because you have filled in the blanks for me. It seems to me that this is not necessarily working all that well and we could actually avoid some of the future incidents and accidents if we had better effective and open reporting.
  18. Thanks for sharing gandalph. IMHO I feel that there is not enough post accident communications regardless of whether it is an RAA or HGFA issue. I am not suggesting speculative statements but I for one as a newcomer to WM would certainly like to hear more detail because accident reporting as you pointed out may assist us in the future from becoming such a statistic. It works well in GA I just don't seem to see the same level of open reporting in RA. I am would be more than happy if someone can enlighten me otherwise but following such incidents and certainly as time goes by (and thorough investigation takes time) we seem to lose track of the outcomes.
  19. Nice, thanks for clarifying Kasper and that really does confirm what I have experienced with my Streak I. Like I said previously its a learning experience and I like to hear from those with something to offer.
  20. Hi Alan, was out your way some weeks back flying with Larry at Strath, great place. Def plan to return.
  21. mmmm, Wagin that'd be nice and central
  22. Yes, Troy last time I spoke to him he was wrapping things up just wasn't sure that he had yet, yes shame as it leaves us with really only York (RAA) or Exmouth (HGFA) as far as I can see, I went the other way from fixed wing to flex.
  23. Hi Alf, Amazing and thanks for sharing, I have flown Wizard, Streak 1 (that I own) and Cruz but am very low hrs, great to hear comments from long termers like yourself, cheers.
  24. Hi Troy, It's always a little exciting when another flying enthusiast pops his head up over here. Good luck with the flying keep in touch and hope to catch up one day. ps: Is Brendan still at Bunbury or did he give it away with the Microlights? Craig
