  1. Hi Graham, Good to have you on board and great to hear you're enjoying flying. I have copied and pasted your search for avionics in the "Anything Aviation For Sale" pages. Hope this helps. Cheers, Paul

    PNG PILOT

Hey Ian, I note he has only one good eye. Have you been flying in PNG lately?
  3. Dave, I notice the wheel pants on these two machines differ. Do you know why this is so? Paul
  4. Hi Dave, Are you in a position to lead these new owners to our forum? It would be good to be in touch with each other having common interests and need of knowledge. I find the CTflyer.com sight really helpful at times, certainly interesting. Regards, Paul
  5. Hi Chris, I'm no technobuff but from my experience and from what I've learned, composite material requires the least maintenance. The downside, again from experience, is that composite (esp carbon fibre) can be tedious and expensive to repair and requires an experienced professional. Cheers, Paul
  6. Oops Sorry guys, esp Ian. I seemed to have been the catalyst for a lot of problems Paul

Tru Blue Puncture Goo Hi Linda, Just thought I should report my experience with Tru Blue Puncture Goo ... sadly a negative one. As I said I would, I injected all three of the tyres in my CT but end result was severe vibration on take-off and landing. I have since fitted new tubes, without the Goo, and problem is gone. I don't know why, maybe because the plane sat idle for a couple of months during our freaky spring temps after injecting the goo. However, Cameron assured me the product would remain liquid and not cause any out-of-balance effects. Oh well, it's experience . Cheers, Paul
  8. Irish taxiway . I know, I'm a bit slow ... I only just caught on to what you were talking about Pete, good one . Paul
  9. OUT?? Ian's not allowed to go out. We need him 24/7.
  10. WHAT?? The thumbnails are there on my PC, and on Palexxxx's PC too apparently . This has to be something for our forum guru to look at. Can you help Ian? Paul
  11. Bob, if only I had known it was you up there ... heard you on 126.7 . We must figure a way forum members can make ourselves known when visiting an area. It would be great to catch up with each other like this. Any ideas out there? :;)5: :;)5: Peter, you bet . The CT is so roomy both height and width. I'm 180cm and I have the seat located in its foremost position with plenty of leg room, so someone taller would have no trouble choosing any of four seat positions further back. Ross, we'll have to catch up one day soon. How's the PIO going? Paul
  12. Nope, found some more in the gerry can ;). Man, I love this flying stuff. Take a look at the Great Trips thread for the latest. Paul
  13. Steve, my son, has been holding out for ages now to take a trip with me, a wish put on hold while the CT was under repairs. So, took a "window in the weather" opportunity today and headed for the coast. From Cooma to Moruya where we put down for a few minutes (in the middle of choppers coming and going during the Sydney-Hobart race rescues), then on to Montague Island for an orbit at 500' before touching down at Merimbula for morning tea (ducking canopy drops), then back over the hills to put down on the Bombala grass strip for a wee break and back up and on home to Cooma. All up 2.7 hours flt time ... and all wonderful. By the end of the day our faces were hurting from the permanent smiles   . What a great way to enjoy each other's company, hard to beat ;) . Still smiling, Paul
  14. If anyone's interested, the pics in my post at the beginning of this thread are finally now viewable. Cheers, Paul
  15. OK, I'm a little more eductaed now. Let's try the pic again .
  16. Ahhh, Cleve, looking NE. Looking at the WAC I would have expected to see some hilly stuff in the background but it all looks pretty flat in your pic. Perhaps I'm just too accustomed to hills that look like hills. Like I said Geoff, you sure do get about, like Cleve is 280nm from YMIA. Was this a day trip for the heck of it or what? Thanks for the tip on posting pics. Paul
  17. Hey Geoff, Darned if I can figure this picture stuff. How did you get those thumbnails onto your post? Paul
  18. Hi Geoff, I can't work out the first pic but I reckon the second (hazy view from about 3500') is Whyalla. You sure do get around mate. Paul
  19. Sorry for not replying earlier Geoff. Yep, that was us. Great day for a fly, eh? (I must find out how to get my pics to show on these posts) Paul
  20. I like it Mike. I guess we should be pushing for the limit extension to 750kg so that our member numbers increase even further .
  21. Peter, I did make a report of this on a post to this forum two versions ago, I think it's now extinct. In brief (it's a long story) the story goes ... About to depart for a flight to Kangaroo Island and while taxying over grass just 30m beyond our hangar the right hand main leg snapped clean in half dropping the CT onto its belly, right wing and strake. Damage comprised crushed belly of hull, partially crushed strake, crushed wing tip, crushed leg and wheel fairing, broken leg strut, bent nose wheel leg and more recently, a depleted wallet. We bought the plane, which had been used as a demonstrator, with 266 hrs TT on it, and clocked up a further 217 hours (364 landings) during the following 11 mths until our happy incidence. Over the last 13 odd months while grounded we have come across some interesting issues, not all of which I am free to discuss here. Things like, the left leg was also found to be cracked and other landing gear related items in the a/c were failing. The manufacturer, and agents, deny any responsibility saying the cause of our incident was due to our handling of the aircraft with heavy landings. An interesting view considering we and everyone familiar with my flying have yet to see me make a heavy landing sufficient to be of any concern. Perhaps the failure may have begun in its earlier life. The good news is that repairs have been carried out expertly by a professional to a high degree of quality and satisfaction. In fact, I reckon the plane (at least those parts relevant to the incidence) is now in better condition and stronger than when new. And now with new landing gear in place we know its history and condition, and can confidently continue flying in safety. Thanks for asking, Paul
  22. Having too much fun flying to stop and take pics. Stand-by, pics coming ... just as soon as I run out of fuel . Paul
  23. Here's a shot takenon approach toTocumwal. These guys are good. Paul
  24. We composite aircraft owners love to keep them sparkling and slippery and in doing so a whole array of polishes have been put to use. Today I collected my CT from Aviation Composite Engineering at Tocumwal and Peter made a specific point of chatting about choice of polishes for composites. In particular he strongly cautioned against the use of silicone based products, like Mr Sheen. These apparently make for very difficult repair work, when and if the need arises, causing resins to resist bonding, even after rubbing back the surfaces. I mentioned Composiclean and its water based (?) neutral pH quality, he said he'd take a look at it but thought it sounded OK. So, given this caution, beware what you put on your shiny bits. Paul
  25. G'day Chas, Welcome to the forum. I guess you have already discovered the friendliness, good humour, sound knowledge and wise experience to be found in these pages. I believe you will always encounter helpfulness fromall ourmembers and a great sense of comradeship. Keep that adrenelin flowing, this flying thing is magic. Paul
