  1. Rob, Airborne at Redhead often fly their trikes out of Wallsend so may well have been one of theirs. Paul
  2. Hi Dave, Having now used the Composiclean, how long do you reckon a gallon will last you? Did you also buy a set of their special rags and are they worth the cost? Paul
  3. Hi S.Drifter, Good tomeet you. Looking fwd to hearing more from you. Please, don't be shy to tell us your real name, it's so muchmore personalto talk to someone by name. Cheers, Paul

    Insurance for Tecnam

Sam, Have you spoken with Glenn Turner (Insurance Advisernet Australia). I've heard good reports about his service. His contacts are ... Ph: 08 8281 2255 Mob: 0418 824 328 Email: [email protected] Paul
  5. Ian said "I'M STILL HOOKED ON THAT SNIFFER." This is our administrator ?? Now we know how he manages to get by with so little sleep. And did I see him rambling on about rekindling an old affair just moments after assuring us he's happily married :ah_oh:. I wonder if one of the forum moderators should begin censoring his posts ?Keep an eye out forthese "sniffers" in the shop . Rob, if you're looking for an ultimate ride take a circuit from Cooma through Jindabyne, the Alpine Way to Khancoban, on to Towong, Jingellic and Tumbarrumba for lunch. Then back to Cooma via the Elliot Way through Cabramurra and Adaminaby. About 400km and nearly all on the lean, almost as good a flying when doing this trip on the Kwaka GTR and most of the trip w/out fear of siting a cop (sorry Vigilant, please stay at home). Paul
  6. Ross...Sou'Westers or Nor'Easters, what are they ;)? That seems to be all we get. One wonders why the rwy wasn't sited to suit, maybe the prevailing winds were different then . Matt ... that $1700 PA (incl all fees) sounds remarkable for YSCB. I'm paying $1200 PA for a three sided shed (covered but open to the elements) with dirt floor and no services, but still just15 mins from home. At YPFT owners there pay $2000 PA (dbl for commercial operators) for parkingin an open hangar. You know you'll always be welcome at the SRA. Can't wait till we have a home base, albeit a bit out-of-town at 30km from Cooma. All ... I wonder what other's costs and conditions are? Paul
  7. Amen!! This topic was raised during a BOM seminar at last year's Wings Over Wagga. The presenter was fairly bombarded with objections to the less than clear data on ARFORs and TAFs. He said he'd look into it to see if changes could be made. Perhaps he forgot, or perhaps it's too hard, or perhaps we recreational flyers don't matter. Any which way, nothing has been done. How aboutyou people going to WOW this year could attend the BOM seminar (if there is one) and press them a bit harder to make changes in the interests of safety. Paul
  8. G'day Ross, Good to hear from a "neighbour" ... well ACT is almost that close to Cooma. I used to fly out of Polo Flat buthave beenhangared at YCOMsince Feb last year. I had a great time getting my Pilot Cert with Mike Apps. You might like to give thought to joining up with Snowy River Aviators (SRA) who also train out of Cooma-Snowy and Adaminaby. Adrian Menhennitt is our instructor using his Jab which is also parked at YCOM. SRA is currently in the process of buying Adaminaby airfield from the local council, with plans for several hangars and club house. Check out our web site at http://www.sra.asn.au/. If you would like contact details for Adrian let me know and I'll PM them to you. Cheers, Paul
  9. Greetings Alan, Great to have you and your expertise on board the forum. We look forward to your continued contributions. Paul
  10. Thanks Michael. Called up said PDF and now have a printed copy in my log book. Paul
  11. CASA has put restrictions on what can be shown whilst in flight. I hope that means NO ADS between programs. Impressive shots Phil, thanks for posting them. PaulN
  12. Just for the interest Mark, speaking from an electrical background, ammeter is the correct term for an instrument that measures the current flow (amperes) of an electrical circuit.
  13. Michael, Do have figures for the 912s handy? Paul
  14. Aldinga, just sth of Adelaide would be a nice spot too, and we have forum friends there. I know the regulars at YADG will make us very welcome and it's within the McLaren Vale wine district too. Also a short scenic hop from there to sth cst of SA and Kangaroo Island. Take a look at http://www.adelaidebiplanes.com.au/for more info ... gotta go for a fly in that Super Decathlon :) PaulN
  15. Hold off setting a date for the CT fly-in until 3841 is airworthy again OR I can host it here at YCOM ... we can all sit around my little shed admiring how cute the CT looks w/out gear. If only I could get it off the ground I'm sure it would scream without all that u/c drag, but then there's that mandatory landing issue. Ouch. What's the worry about holding the fly-in central to east and west coast. With Dave's aviation experience and flying VH-CTD he'd be able to get over in no time flat, and may even enjoy the flight. Waddaya reckon Dave? Paul
  16. Welcome to your new group of friends Alan. I think you will find this forum interesting, informative, instructional, at times intriguing, but above all friendly. Please feel welcome to offer your own comments, ask questions, share experiences, especially share your flying experiences. Glad to hear your enjoying training at Shepp. Well you didn't exactly say "enjoying" but if your flying the Tecnam and with the great bunch of instructors there you'd have to be enjoying it. Regards, Paul
  17. Re camera type, I use a Canon Power Shot A95. Affordable, compact, good results and adjustable viewfinder screen (swivels). Very happy with it. Interesting to see the Canon Power Shot gets top rave in this month's Choice magazine. Had a moment of excitement this week when four Sea Kings dropped in for fuel at Cooma. I had to admire their pilot skills, great control. Paul
  18. Onya Francisco, great pic . So, now you know how to post photos, we look forward to seeing more of your world. Regarding image size, try keeping the file size below 95 kbytes and image size around 650 x 500 pixels. This way the pics fit better on the viewer's screen. Interesting to read of your time with NSCA ... welcome home, sort of. Paul
  19. Hi Rob, In the bottom pic it appears to me that the thingamejig on front of the spinner is not rotating as the prop spins, but maybe is driven by air passing over it, wind milling like the gadgets in the background do. Like you I am now very curious, hope someone has an answer.Perhaps a RAT . Paul
  20. Hi EsqualVM1, We'd all be very interested to see some of your aerial pics from your part of the world :). Perhaps you could post them under the topic heading "Great Trips" with a brief caption. Keeping the file size below 95 kbytes and image size around 650 x 500 pixels should work well. By the way (BTW), what's your real name? Cheers, Paul
  21. Greetings Poteroo, welcome to our happy team of aviators. Looking forward to hearing more from you, and please, don't be shy. You'll find us a friendly mob. Paul
  22. Great travelogue Darren and interesting pics. Thanks for sharing the trip and thanks to Emma too. Cheers, Paul
  23. Hi Kathy, Good to hear from you and welcome to the forum. There has only recently been quite a bit of discussion about the Allegro on this forum, not all positive. Take a look here http://www.recreationalflying.com/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1225. I did my training with Mike Apps at Polo Flat (Cooma) inhis Allegro (24-4037). Being my first aviation experience my observationscan only be biased, however I did find the a/c "twitchy" and a little basic in its design. I believe newer versions have incorporated a few enhancements. Since getting my Pilot Cert I have been flying the CT2K and find the differencesquite remarkable ... more stable, betterlayout of flight controls, more roomy and comfortable, better performance specs and extremely responsive to pilot input. Frankly, the CT is just fantastic. Now, having raved about the CT I need to add that I think the Allegro is an easier plane to learn in.Then again, the Jab, Gazelle, Sportstar and many others are great trainers too. Take a read through the above thread and see what you glean from that. To the rest of our readers, Kathy is new to the forum so please offer her helpful information. Regards, Paul
