  1. Found document regarding 200l drums of avgas , up to 4x can be carried on a vehicle with no extra requirements larger volimes can be carried with sides, fire extinguishers and eyewash. Also some paperwork cand find much for other states geting small volume ulp deliveries isnt easy and can be expensive
  2. Seen a couple using a stainless 1000l ibc in a tandem box trailer. Can setup with pump and vents etc. 12 v pumps suitable for petrol are expensive and often small/slow Pretty sure farmers can transport and store without much dg restrictions Could use 4x brand new 205 l drums and hand pump.
  3. So would appear Only factory build AC lame maintained 45 kt stall With Mtow always over 600kg but under 760kg (ie never been on RAA reg) pilot medical- likely to mean no CTA id be asking whats in it for RAA or the owner and how many aircraft/pilots fit or want to head onto this new catagory? CASA can it offloading a heap management of small GA to RAA for free. More moeney available for regulatory reform
  4. Yes fuel exhaustion is very serious, how is a strict liability law going to motivate a pilot to plan beter? do you think you can just call mayday, land and fuel up? Id expect at minimum a please s plain or punitive action, guarantee theres a penalty point attached for those letting it happen more than once in their careers Also indicates you should land or divert rather than land without reserve intact. What you just outlined is now illegal apm how does calling mayday fuel get a priority landing at any non controlled aerodrome ie. most of them? Whats going to happen is is another regulation people will ignore and theres not much they can do about it.
  5. Sure as hell wouldnt do it with 30 minutes more flight time available Interested what Melb or Brisbane centre are supposed to do to help you?
  6. Im seeing that if you are in a situation where you will be landing without 30 min fuel reserve INTACT that you declare emergency method to avoid this is to find suitable off field landing area Talk of potential ATC and 30 min to permit traffic etc id suggest would see many here give up flying
  7. Why would regulation changes influence pilots more than the risk of accident due to running out risking injury? Id reckon if you entered CTA in low fuel state you might let ATC know that you are in risk of running out in 30 min....not a mayday. The more regulation users consider useless, the tendency is to ignore it and other regulation.
  8. If the regulation is rewritten with larger aircraft in mind, why the option of landing in a safe paddock before using reserves? there would be a form or two for an RPT pilot if he did this Id say
  9. Was it a regulation to carry 45 min or a recommendation? now its reg with penalties i always carry plenty but dont like regulation when theres no need
  10. If you dont now youve broken the law if you do youve broken the law
  11. When are you allowed to use the 30 min reserve, after you mayday and land on a “safe” paddock?

  13. I think there is no way for an aircraft here to derate and become LSA either LSA is a different type of approval held by manufacturer. likely it could fit in another RAA catagory. Probably cant use for training
  14. Do deflecting beam require calibration as much as others?
  15. Agree, they are good kit Older Pro version has lower resolution but battery lasts much longer. Most of Pro2 features don't work unless plugged into power supply.
  16. I have two Warren and Brown deflecting beam, 1/2 and 1/4 do need to check you get correct adapters for sockets youre using, it, they are expensive too. Bought a Kinchrome and it failed mid use, just didn't click anymore so doesn't say much about quality
  17. they aren't certified and only available in kit form other than LSA which is 600kg
  18. telstra have an Arlo unit which runs on battery for a few months between charges and records video on movement all done via next G mobile service Around $30/mth for 2 years then $15/mth Can watch live on mobile if you want to too.
  19. Yes as discussed above, its not open for RAA pilots or experimental aircraft however This isnt even equal with other types and locence catagories
  20. Seems new regulations or requirements apply to those that want to exercise them - not everyone which is fair enough. Youre correct in that many think they will get these upgrades under existing framework - not going to happen.
  21. If you replace all 5 cables that's best part of $1K plus fitting - fairly expensive if looking at every 2 years like suggested. You also need a second inspection on this too.
  22. Did Jabiru supply the new one? I thought they had stopped using them
  23. the CASA directive does not apply to cables used in Jabiru. - From RAA Tech team Its in regards to corrosion in ends of cable assembly. Jabiru use similar but not the same setup. These cables are expensive and a big job to replace. Have to be bought through Jabiru as maker wont discuss aircraft usage. Jabiru claim very few problems with the system and the cables at supposed to be self damping preventing flutter. The clamp security are a daily inspection item I thought. Doubt many do it well Theres a few SB on these cables. Damage look familiar? http://www.jabiru.net.au/images/JSB041-1_Jabiru__Elevator_Cable.pdf
  24. I recall this was a common problem. Not sure if your version is the type though. Going back a while. The oil pump produces very high pulses of pressure and the coolers can fatigue, crack and fail I believe they were replaced with another type however also the operating pressures are much reduced on hydraulic engines too.
  25. Wouldn't be the first time a problem has been found with "improved" regulation before its released Not logical that you cant bring an aircraft tested to higher capacity - stronger - into RAA if it meets the stall speed/MTOW limits With homebuilt or experimental the MTOW is actually set by the builder but if too high would be unlikely to be accepted without kit manufacturer support or other evidence Id have thought. Id guess they could reduce MTOW too if they wanted. You maybe cant do it now due to the assessment that the aircraft cannot reasonably be configured to fly under 600kg, ie 1 seat and 20 l fuel to make it under 600kg, it would be likely the owner would fly under MTOW ever.
