Comparing KF/SF to Jabiru is chalk and cheese. Look up utube and see where these Fox flyer land as well as other antics. Try some of those in a Jabiru. Not rubbishing Jabiru rather pointing out the capabilities of the Foxes. I am still coming down your way Metalman. Cheers all

Interesting statistics Oscar. Do you have a breakdown on causes?

What was the cost Yenn? ThanksI have used Quality Avionics who are at Archerfield I think. I sent the transponder to them and they returned it in about 10 days. Does it have to be done annually or on an hours basis. mine is every two years. -
In the early 80s BMW produced a 2 litre six "European Pack". Silky smooth and revved like tomorrow. Don't think they flexed.

I have an unconfirmed report of nose wheel problems. Caused big delays to flights from SYD

A great sight as always. I am revisiting Duxford and RIAT In July to refresh my memory of these tantalising sounds.

Sorry but I don't think that CASA would be coerced into immediate action if RAA was to crumble. They could and maybe would place the exRAA business in the not important tray and continue on their merry GA path. They CASA, claim that they are currently poorly funded so we would have to pick up the crumbs. Changes to funding of government departments is a slow process. Recreational aircraft would just have to sit it out and possibly not fly.
We have little leverage over CASA so be careful what we wish for.

Adam, have you sent them an email detailing this? In your second link Richard suggests a way to go backwards to 8.2 to cure the problem. Goodluck.

I was at YNRM for the 3 days of the Phoenix fly in (killed by the weather gods), and was at the presentation by the young CASA person. The implication was the downloadable copy was just waiting for the Easter break to finish and takeoff.
-
Thanks SDQDI, saved the link to my desktop. Wont work in the scrub though.

CASA has released the updated VFRG however I cannot locate a free download. Does any contributor know if there is a freebie or do you have to buy a hard copy from the CASA site?
Thanks in advance.

Ah, but the farmers here have bigger smiles. Swings and roundabouts.

Do you know who the person was in an aircraft similar to yours that was giving flying instruction from NRM during the weekend? They enjoyed the low traffic conditions.WoW. I went on Saturday, but for the conference, there was "Nothing", Saaa was all locked up, the museum was doing business, must have half a dozen people there, Casa was there as was sting and another table with brochures.spacesailor -
The "Phoenix" organisers unfortunately did not have a direct line to the weather gods. However the forums were wide ranging viz. CASA new instrument rules to the two Michaels from RAAus giving an update on where they are and what is foreseen. They took about 7 hours to fly from Canberra avoiding weather along the way.WoW. I went on Saturday, but for the conference, there was "Nothing", Saaa was all locked up, the museum was doing business, must have half a dozen people there, Casa was there as was sting and another table with brochures.spacesailorThere was, as you would expect, a lot of organising in place to handle/guide an unknown number of aircraft. The award for patience must go to the Technam rep who stayed the full term. Many apologies were received from along the eastern side due to the weather.
As expected the weather on Monday was good for flying. Currently (Tues) it is pouring.
This event was not organised by theSAAA or the flying club, but a group of interested aviators.

I too had my reg returned within a week. Excellent turn around.

Narromine is having a sort of informal affair over Easter as well. Locals are organising it.

I sat the test today after reading the study guide quickly. Straight forward but more concerned with documentation than what a spark plug colour will tell you.
One of the questions is whether you retain your existing L1 status. You do without sitting the test, as long as you keep your RAAus membership up to date.
Anyhow, easy as. Some semantic differences with the preferred answers but still ok.
Do it for your knowledge base with respect to administration and legal responsibilities.

Thanks bra83d, I should be there if the gods are kind. Sounds good.

Hi posters, I believe there is a gathering for flyers at Narromine this Easter. Any word around the lines on this?

A young person can be issued a pilot certificate or pilot licence years before a drivers licence

Thanks, I am deliberating. Where are you keeping the a/c?

I flew in the 80s from Royal Casey. From memory a 150 WXP was the noisiest one in Australia. Shut down because the council would not allow the flying school annual permit to be renewed.

To FlyingV, sometimes the effectiveness of an iPad can be improved by shutting it down and rebooting. Seems to clear the detritus. Cheers
Shoreham airshow

I attended 3 major British air shows last month and was surprised to see a lot of the performances were towards the spectator line with a turn just before overflying. If a failure occurred they are likely to take out part of the crowd. This unfortunate mishap however was not into the spectators but shows that the worst can happen to the best qualified pilots.
