  1. Going again this year, and staying about 40 minutes away in a motel. There are many motels available via the usual hotel search sites. You can often get big breakfast, air con and a fridge for the cool ones when you finish the day.

Parking is $10 a day and easy to access which you can prebook on the EAA website.

I suggest you join the EAA to get reduced entry and other price reductions. Even on the B17 flight experience. Awsome.

I concurr with not trying to do the lot. Have a great time. It is hard not to.

  2. I have seen reference some time ago about someone in the Riverland or Riverina who has the clues on Jabiru engine servicing. I would appreciate help in locating this mystery man.

  3. This was the same issue I had with the site when I first joined. Satellite (1 Mbit) connection from the middle of the middle of nowhere in particular was very slow with the same issue of the "downloading 168 items" and the "hang" that ensued until it had downloaded all items, that prompted me to ask about a "lite" version of the site being available about 4 weeks ago.

I am suffering the slow downloading problem on this site as well as returning to the previous page. I tried the aviationenthusiasts.net/ link and had no problem going forward or back.

  4. Ian, I have no cross to bear which seems to be a problem. I visit this site as well as others and my comment is thank you and your assistants heaps and strength to your arm. You have heady ideals and these do not always agree with everyone but keep up the good fight of promoting flying.

  5. Yes it does have terrain warning when flying VFR as it has a bigger screen in front of you and screens to the left and right of you ...sorry, my attempt at humour...no it doesn't have terrain warning like the expensive units although you have made me think of something...will make a call on Monday to a software vendor and see if their software will work on a WindowsCE unit...probably not but on the "off chance" it's worth a try. These 5" units don't have a link up to get live data but they will connect to your PC through a USB cable where you can upload any files or applications that will work with WindowsCE including pdf files (it has a pdf viewer application), word, excel and powerpoint files converted for CE, outlook contacts, mail, tasks and appointments and many others.

I intend to have a forum here where users can swap helpful hints and tips, what applications they are using, what settings they use, enhancements that they make etc which will help each owner of the unit to get the best out of them...can't get better support then that...I think.

Oh, also I have dropped the 7" version of the GPS and instead it will be a 7" Electronic Flight Bag Tablet PC that can be mounted on your panel which will enable you to get live data as you are flying using 3G (inc NextG) and it will also come in a 10" version although not easily mountable in an aircraft but can also be used at home and in the office as well. I got the email on the price of the 7" this morning...it included a 3G and NextG sim card slot...I told them to go and check their pricing again :)

Thanks Ian, I am looking to replace my Garmin 196 and would be keen on an Aussie product

  6. Hi folks, I have had a stuttering interest in flying. Did a bit of GA in the 80's, bought an Airborne trike 582 about 10 years ago which I still fly occassionally and now fly, in a form, a Kitfox IV Classic with 2200 Jab motor.
