  1. Fantastic, thanks so much. One last question, I've opted for a remote radio. I will use it thru the G3x. Im thinking it's modern and will be fine. I also like the idea of working on one panel. I have also opted for the AP 507 head unit. ( Which is contrary to the above). My thinking is I like to feel knobs and buttons and wheels when making inputs to the way the aircraft flys. Right choice on the Radio? Thanks Lyndon
  2. Thanks , the GPS is not accurate enough for VFR ??? The G5 will have an antenna for its GPS. I'm guessing the G3X will have the same set up. Thus two independent GPS units, or would they share the same remote antenna?? Lyndon
  3. I've got all those items you listed sorted except the Magnotomer and engine interface ( not required for the Rotax). I take it the G5 back up shares the same Pitot tube ?
  4. The magnotomer, what exactly does it do and is necessary for VFR. Thanks Lyndon
  5. I've got a good printer for labels. I'm building a Kitfox with a 916 Rotax Lyndon
  6. Thanks. I'm happy to pay a little extra for peace of mind. Pretty important stuff. Lyndon
  7. The G3X Garmin. It requires some other ancillaries for it to operate. What actually else do I need to buy with it. Pitot Tube, AOT probe, I believe it has an inbuilt GPS. So do I need a remote GPS or areiel for it to operate correctly. Does it need a magnetometer??? Does it need anything else. I want to save on bundled shipping. Thanks Lyndon
  8. Thanks. I'm not a fan of the cost and complexity.. So it will have no lights at this stage. Thanks Lyndon
  9. Where do you guys get your aviation wire supplies from. Lyndon
  10. I'm building a VH Experimental. Is it a requirement to have any of the above. Thanks Lyndon
  11. Kitfox SuperSport.
  12. I've ordered the kit with roll and pitch only. We are talking 12 months away before I have to fit servos. A lot can change but Dynon at this stage. I believe I can always fit the yaw servo afterwards if needed. Maybe just pre wire it in the fuselage. Thanks Lyndon
  13. Done Thanks
  14. Thanks. That makes sense. You have been happy with the Dynon ?
  15. I'm not sure Dynon do a 3 axis. That is my initial thoughts for Avionics on the build. So it may require Garmin. Lyndon
  16. I have no idea how it flies. It's a kit and I'm doing the options now. Eg they will weld a bracket for the yaw sevo. It's not cheap for a bracket I may not ever use . Roll and pitch Ive already included.
  17. I'm going to incorporate an auto pilot into my build. Do I spend the extra dollars and get a 3 axis over the 2 ??? Lyndon
  18. Thanks to all. Lyndon
  19. Tail wheel upgrade on a kit fox. Any local Australian suppliers. That seem ridiculous expensive for what they are in the US. Lyndon
  20. I'm considering VH experimental. I'm building. I only intend to have for 2 to 4 years. I'm taking this in two steps. Enjoy the build, then decide on the next stage which is 2 to 4 years of flying at which time I plan on doing around 400 hrs. Lyndon
  21. Thanks for the reply. I have given this a miss. I read the logs and the engine from 120hrs has been in and out and repaired non stop. It's not something I want, thus I have gone down the Rotax route. I'm now sorting an aircraft with the above. I think in the long run when I consider reliability and resale it's a no brainer. My idea was to buy the 230 sell what I don't need for 2 to 10 k and spend 60k. Thanks Lyndon
  22. 2009 700hrs in good condition, well maintained. Still flying, all original, just had a top end service by a reputable aircraft mechanic. Engine complete, prop and the complete panel. ( No glass but does have a Garman GPS ). Thoughts on what it's worth to resell. I'm doing my sums on this plane to buy. The above are not needed if I buy it. Thanks in advance. Lyndon
  23. Thanks for the input. White on the horizontal and I can paint the vertical. Im also happy to paint any non structural parts. One step closer to building a plane. Thanks Lyndon

    Jabaru 230 advice

I believe that is sold ?
  25. As my previous post I'm considering a Jabiru 230. Thoughts please. The aim is to own for 2 to 3 years and travel in it. Eg about 2 to 300 hrs, then sell it. 1. Buy new. 2. Build my own at 760kg with VH and save 20 to 30k ( my preferred option ). 3. buy used. Concerns are 1 . reliability, eg I like new 2. Resale factory vs home built. 3. Home build gets me 760kg which I like. Advice would be much appreciated. Lyndon
