Savannahs of Sardinia - some with floats and E-props:
It is great to hear the real-world experience of this Savannah owner. He said that he was so "satisfied" with the E-props that he decided not to change out the engine for a more powerful one.
Thanks for sharing.

The 2 pack stuff does look better though I have to admit.
I am weighing up paint options right now.
Perhaps you could tell us how the two paints look different.

Since suffering another stroke a fortnight ago, in which I totalled my car, I have now lost my license, and by default, my flying certificate. I've also been diagnosed as having Altziemers disease. This in turn, leaves me with no option but to sell my T85 Thruster. It's airframe has been stripped down and thoroughly inspected and a new tail wheel fitted. It's pod has been repaired and repainted, A new, more comfortable seat, with a 4 point harness, fitted. The engine has been rebuily with new oil seals between the cylinder journals. Ran well when bench tested. It's now fitted with a new Sweat apple prop I needs new skins and I have the old ones to used as patterns.
Best offer over $2000 secures. Byer collects.Hi Doug,
It's sad you have to give up flying. Nevertheless, I wish you well and God's blessing in the years ahead.
I hope someone will come along soon and pick up a T85 steal!

I bought one from the previous dealer (Reg Brost) when I was at his place. I am not up to the point in my construction where this will be needed yet. Hopefully, it will be all good when the time comes.

So far, I have built the horizontal stabiliser, the elevator, the trim tab, the rudder (and the ICP rudder extension), the fin and all four flaperons.
So far, all the holes have lined up somehow in all of these ten parts. In some cases, they did not initially appear to line up but (in the manner described by Bob above*) I have always managed to line up the holes so that the rivets could join the components.
I would strongly advise that you do not run the drill through any of the the holes to make them fit, but instead, try to make the holes line up with a podger.

I used a fuel injection pump (second hand Bosch from wreckers) for years. Electrical connection from my ground vehicle via a 10m lead to cigar lighter socket.
How long does it take to pump per litre❓

Actually just ordered a Eprop for a guy over there in NZ about to build a savannah
I will most likely line up for one as well.

Did you consider using the E-props direct drive propeller?

This is all very useful information❕

No those pots at te side are audio stuff adjustment. The VCO is internal in the frequency design..its setup at manufacture
It's very unlikely that the VCO is user/owner adjustable.

VCO?
Most likely the Voltage Controlled Oscillator.

I'd love to have another 15-20 hp (or more), but Jabiru 2200 is running well and problem free, so just looking to get the best possible performance possible from it-recognizing its limitations. If I were to change engines, the Viking 130 would probably be the frontrunner. Outstanding performance in Zenith 701.
Viking 130 engines, although really good, are heavy.
If you changed to a Viking 130, you may just have enough weight remaining for the pilot and the tanks filled with fuel and you'd reach your extended 560 kg (1,234 lb) weight limit. You will only be able to carry a feather for a passenger.

Alodine is the rolls royce of protection but it is a lot of work. The Savannah rebuild is all alodined but I wont do that on the RANS S-21. I am actually going to do the ICP thing. I havea full tin of the black goop and will get another and I will use the back stuff on all the mating surfaces.
I am not going to worry about priming the insides of the sheets. My experience now of several systems and also pulling 10year old aircraft apart if you do the black stuff correctly its works a treat. If you are a bit light on with the black stuff then I have seen corrosion between stringer and sheets. Done properly it works well and that black stuff even though it is water based is bloody tough .
So I am pretty sure my RANS will be the only one done like this. Its about 50/50 in the USA for either chromating everything inside or not doing anything with the S-21's that are being built there.
I am using a product made by Cortec. It is a US-manufactured water-based primer that is applied very thinly. Many North American Zenith aircraft builders use this product. Here is a short description of the product: https://www.ecorrsystems.com/store/p/4709-Cortec-VpCI-373-High-Performance-Coating-5-Gal.aspx

OME at the start of my build I asked about the Black Stuff, which turned into a thread here, and which, like so many conversations about painting aircraft, devolved into various strongly held views with a fair bit of heat.
In the end I came away. And I spray primed everything instead of using the Black Stuff.
However, like Mark, if I were doing it all again, I would use the Black Stuff: I'm sure it would be a lot less work for the same or better result, provided one had the roller (discovered by Australian builders, I believe) for applying it.
It's called the Black Stuff because it arrives from ICP in an unmarked can. But once upon a time the cans were marked, and somewhere back in that Black Stuff thread is what the cans used to say. As I recall, it's a water based etch primer.
A number of Savannah builders also refer to it as "black goop".

There's what, 4 posts asking after me in a year? I seem to be as popular as a man at a Feminist Convention wearing a strap on dildo.
But I am highly unimpressed with mostly Murdoch's lies and the anti-China hatefest it has created with Australians recently, add to that some of the complete lies the Government has thrown out there, but I did discover that anyway 16 years ago when I first landed here ... it's a very sad and distressing moment when you realise your own Government lies to you.
My Dad is 85 now, he was tainted with the "Commy" nonsense (relative to modern times, and yeah, it was bad decades ago), now he can't wait for his trips over here. he also shakes his head when he sees the China nonsense, actually traveling to a Country and seeing for yourself is the only answer, Scott Morrison ought to try it ..... wouldn't suit his narrative though.
I've been called everything under the sun Mate, so some comment about a taildragger isn't going to bother me.
Simple fact is I gave up trying to recover from my open heart surgery, 6 months they said, every time I tried getting back up to working speed, I would have to spend longer recovering, what a struggle, and depressing, now over 2 years and I'm only just getting back to true full strength, and now just started spending 3 or 4 days a week comfortably in the factory again with just a day or 2 rest inbetween.
I used to do around 6 to 700 accumulative pushups through the day, now I do 30 and my sternum hurts like **** where they cut me in half if I do more. But I'll get there .... and so will a plane, I have a couple of offers and money on he table for the project when I'm ready.
Great to hear from you again, Bex❕
I hope you make as a good a recovery as possible. Keep up the good work.

Well I got the carport made...pretty pleased with it actually for $1000...lots of sweat though. Its been really muggy and hot up here this past few weeks so I have been squelching in my shoes while building it.
Now the good and bad news....bad news...well not so bad. I have a nice long carport for the new Triton so can get all my vehicles finally under cover. It wont be used as a spray booth though. You know the old someone who knows someone etc..we my mate Danny has come up with another good one. Turns out he has a business customer that restores old car classics and this guy has a full blown pro spray booth at his house only about 5km away from here. He has a you panel beater /spray painter he keeps busy all the time there basically gainfully employed most of the time but there are times he is struggling to keep him. He doesn want to lose him apparently he is pretty good.
So he lets this young guy do "foreigners" in the spray booth there and this young guy only charges 25 bucks an hour. He has had experience with aluminium prep and painting. So I will supply the paint which I already have and he will do all the work. Sounds damn fine to me...so he will paint Mabel..then my old Iveco van which has spent the last 15 outside will get a rust and quick make over..then of course the RANS will get done. My granddaughters old Supra needs a respray and Danny has 2 planes as well for him to do...so hopefully we can keep him gainfully employed and it saves me a ton of work and time for a very very reasonable cost...winner winner chicken dinner.
So I had built a wooden rotisserie to paint the fuselage but I wasnt happy with it..turns out my boss at work has a proper one fully adjustable for cars...its a oldie and had plenty of work but a little TLC which I did tonight on it when I got it home today and it looks like it will be great.
So I will make the attachment mounts tomorrow hopefully and it will be ready to put some temporary wheels on it and I can get it over the painter. Danny has a rotisserie he made for Savannah wings so we will use that. Its a single ended one so the root of the wing attaches to the rotatry part and the wing is held up by the wing strut.
I will get the painter to do all the smaller parts like tail feathers etc first. The only problem I have now is to decide on my paint scheme
I am glad you have someone sorted for your painting.
I am still thinking about my own colour scheme too. Mmm? What to choose...
