Hi 80  Bill has been away with his Sav so I've been unable to get the better images and size etc.  I won't see him this weekend so will be a couple of weeks before I get the info.  Cheers.

No worries, B E. Whenever you at in touch with, or see, Bill next is fine. It would be nice to get further details one day such as the weight, cost, how this attached, etc.

  2. Unfortunately, the picture of the Savannah is a bit blurry. A better picture would be appreciated.

From what I can see, Bill's belly pod looks more streamlined (or less agricultural) compared to the ICP factory unit. Also, the factory belly pod is not available for the Savannah S.

  3. Hi 80 Bill has a mould for it. It was made by the previous owner. Let me know if you ever need close up images and measurements etc. made in fibreglass. Cheers.

I would love some close up pictures, an idea of the extra weight and the approximate cost of the unit.

  4. After grounding myself over 2 years ago for medical reasons, and only having flown 2.5 hours in the last half of 2018 and 1.6 hours last year accompanied by an instructor and having sold my plane.

With no recurrence of my medical condition for over 18 months, and the approval of my Doctor, I decided that it was time to try again.

In the last 4 weeks I have flown 5.8 hours in 2 different aircraft and am feeling confident in both my health and my flying.

It is wonderful to get back up there a do what I love doing.

I do not regret grounding myself or selling my plane, as both were done for the right reasons, but I did not realise how much I missed flying.

But I am back now and looking forward to the next chapter of my flying journey.

Go Geoff. Great to hear you're airborne again!

  5. Eightyknots - Finding information on any website is better done using Google Search. Google's Search algorithms are the best around, they beat every websites own search engine, hands-down.

Just type into Google Search, "recreational flying: xxxxxxxxx", where "xxxxxxxxxx" is the subject you're searching for.

If you get no worthwhile results first up, change the search words around or alter them to other words that the post may have in it.

Google Search will pick up key phrases, part names, part numbers, common names for items, and regularly-used terms.

Thanks onetrack, I will definitely try that!

  6. I don’t know about other people, but I like to get a bit of feedback from a post. We are stuck at home in isolation and looking for relationships however tenuous. A like is appreciated. A comment much more. Without them it is easy to become disheartened and then why bother.

I like it ...and I liked it. ?

  7. People are distracted from their discretionary pursuits right now. People are distracted by the change of routines.

In other interest forums and sites I am involved in (ham radio , robotics etc) I have seen similar declines in activity.

The Covid phenonomen has changed life for the moment. People are not flying as much, and reduced flying may directly affect forum interest. IE I have seen people l (in other interests/hobbies just move their time and interest temporarily onto something else, that they can do.

Also, business wise, many business people have the fight of their lives on.

I think this is a great site, and has an enormous repository of information in past topics, which I have now referenced extensively.

There is a h-u-g-e amount of useful information on this site!

(sometimes, it is a bit hard to find what is needed)

  8. Maybe I’m a sample here.... haven’t been near the site in months. A bit excited now because I hope to come home late October. I hope to pick up the Nynja I purchased from Vince headling for a year ago. Even purchased the Bose headphones I’d been avoiding. Arrived in Taiwan last week. Purchased an ultralight. Ready for post covid adventure...

We are ready for your posts too!

  9. Hi 80 This may be of interest to you - look closely at the purple Savannah on the right of the bottom image as Bill has a small cargo pod under the fuse between the main wheels. It doesn't effect speeds. Cheers.

That is very interesting. Did Bill get this custom-made or was this an off-the-shelf cargo pod?

  10. Well I never thought I would see the size of these improvements to be what they are. When JG did his first prop tests there really wasnt much between the props but I think you will see a pretty dramatic jump in the data.

The guy with the trike has got his prop now and I look forward to seeing his numbers as it being a pusher. Interesting that Eprop recommend he run a extension to get the prop further away from the engine as the airflow past the engine on a pusher is quite disturbed and you get a good benefit from the prop being further away.

Danny did some further testing today in tandem with another aircraft that has his ASI well calibrated as the sav with the crappy static port often doesnt give a true reading so to confirm the readings he had he matched the speed with Roger at 5200 rpm in cruise he is doing 92kts in level flight as the picture shows and Danny can get 5500 rpm at WOT in flight...That is incredible for a VG

On the surface, 92 knots (IAS) at 5,200 rpm in a VG is remarkable. We are assuming the indicated values shown are all sound!

  11. How did you guess that Marty? :roflmao:

Yes Its a funny story actually but basically I stumbled into it. Its turned out to be something much bigger than I had anticipated..a new product that actually works and beats the pants off anything else around.

I was looking for something better than the Bolly that I was using and I know a lot of people around the world and was told to check them out and was given the lead to the boss there by someone who uses them exclusively now for their factory built aircraft. I couldnt believe the difference when I tried the first one which was to be for me. The issue was the Eprop arrived the week after I sold the GF so I asked Danny to try it...then he wouldnt take it off until I got him one

When I started this thread, I had also stumbled across E-props propellers on line. I got the impression that E-props is one of those "quiet achiever" products: no fanfare, just an efficient propeller for light aircraft.

There were a number of propeller reviews (some in French) but not a lot of Real World Experiences ...and/or comparisons. It is lovely to see some being posted in this thread!!

  12. I think it is time to revisit the site, its function, its capability, its service to all recreational aviators. Time to perhaps look at a Wish List of what the site could perhaps deliver/provide you all...so how about it, what would you like to put on the Wish List?

I will start although derived from a specific user's request:

Aviation Book List - details about the many different books written about aviation

Aviation Movie List - details about the many different movies concerning aviation

    Plain English Weather Converter

After all, I am stuck here in Melbourne in lock down so it will give me something to think about/do

    ...over to you

Is it possible to have Plain English weather converter for New Zealand?
