  1. Put a nice turtle deck behind the wings to help better flow to the fin and rudder it will stop the oil canning too on the boxy ones. IF the fin and rudder protrude below the fuselage that's good too... Rearward CofG is extremely risky. The horiz. tail feathers can STALL so just think what that does and I DON"T like full flying tails at all. Nev
  2. It's a risk with most if the sealants . Nev
  3. THEY would have to be a bit heavier. Their cockpits are not very WIDE. (both). Nev
  4. You will hear them corroding on a damp still night. They weren't corrosion proofed. Float C-180's were. Nev
  5. The tomahawk and C-150 are OLD planes now and you could get some that are not worth repairing economically. Nev
  6. Heavier doesn't always make the stall speed faster but the only way to lower the stall speed of an existing plane is to lower the AUW or alter the wings. Nev
  7. You've excelled yourself. I don't understand one word of what you have just written (2 Hrs ago). Nev
  8. Possibly. If there's any decent airflow it would be better than having something like a phone box.as as cockpit. A Round or oval fuselage cross section aft of the wing helps good flow over the fin and rudder. Nev
  9. RR gasket cement was special because the Merlin is generally metal to metal. Nev
  10. Just get transit rights and try for the rest later if you think it's worth while. Nev
  11. Way back I used Yamabond but there are better now. A motor I dismantled recently used something like what was being used on Jabirus. It was almost impossible to get it apart. You don't NEED that. I go back to Gasket Goo and you never forget it's smell. Rotax use Loctite a lot and reckon you should Run a tap through to clean the threads out. I WOULDN'T recommend that as it will often enlarge the thread. and that weakens it. Nev
  12. Gliders are a sophisticated design all over and don't have to handle the effects of a propeller OR a disgusting square sectioned fuselage to much up the rudder effectiveness. Nev
  13. Some Sealants come in Hardening and non-hardening. Loctite generally has a good name in the game. Nev
  14. I believe a MAX speed is also stipulated in the US.. Nev
  15. It has to be ICAO compliant. You can't just assume it is. A lot depends on how long you want to stay there and what type of flying grabs you and can be afforded. Nev
  16. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. The signed (certified) log book will be your main document when you go somewhere else. Air Legislation is peculiar to each country you fly in and a lot of other things are competency based. Just my view. Nev
  17. I'm not too happy with the full forward stick. On many planes you can end up spinning inverted that way and "centre controls without delay" once the desired result has been achieved, must be emphasised. Once you are unstalled you can't be spinning. The plane is controllable in the normal way but you might be in an attitude you have to do something positive about without delay. Nev
  18. How does one (CASA) contract out a liability they are legislated to carry the responsibility for to an organisation without the means of actually doing it under threat of NO existence unless you accept this condition. Contracts signed under duress are not binding in principle. It's "do what we say or no Play". Nev
  19. They didn't need to get trained to LAND. THAT saves a lot of cost. Nev
  20. And prophets go through the roof. Nev
  21. RFg there's nothing new about that situation. Where cost is a limiting Factor the less important situations get left out first. They rarely investigate Fatals with aerobatic s either if only the pilot is involved. Nev
  22. A "Condition Report" is a thing of great mystery. The bi plane my son built out of beer cans hanging in my worship is in good condition, but will never fly. Nev (er)
  23. You should tune into some of the views expressed by intending DRONE operators who are going to be using the same sky in which you fly. Nev
