  1. After some info regarding the fuel system in the Gazelle, I and a friend fly 2 different gazelles and one will feed from the port tank and the other feeds from the STBD, both suck down to around 5-7-7 litres before they start feeding from the other tank. What I want to know is- is this normal for the type and what would cause it? balnced flight is maintained and I am not sure if its effected by the boost pump or not.
  2. I can attest to the MIO 370 from Slarti, it is an absolutely outstanding unit touch screen colour the ability to switch between automotive and air it is the best money I have spent, I was tossing up buying a garmin 96 and boy I am glad that I didn't. For anyone thinking of purchasing one of these of Slarti, go for it they are great value for money. thanks again Ross and it was great to meet you finally at Wings over the Illawarra.
  3. During my military training there was always two trains of thought with the QFI, some would like you to positively smack it on the ground and others would like you to hold it off. I personally like to hold off in the flare but it does show up your crosswind handling technique and skill. The only hard landing I had in the PC9 was at night holding it off and having my peripheral flare cues a little to high causing a 4 G landing, I remember the chuckle over the intercom from the seasoned RAAF Herc pilot/QFI " the wheels are still inflated- continue". With the lower inertia of the RAA beasts I tend to fly it on in gusty conditions and add half the gust factor to my threshold speed as a buffer should I need it. In light conditions I am on the factory numbers over the fence and let it wash off in ground effect before Touch down.
  4. Interesting issue on the local sporty, its history states that in its previous 24- registration it had an accident, then transferred to VH also had an accident, well after re-registration into anothers hands and back on 24- the engine mount rubbers need replacing ( damaged in accident I sumize) and then yesty, LH rear fuselage to wing attach point is flogged out ( found on a walkaround) in a way that can only happen if the wing was forced forward. Now I know it didnt move during the hundred hourly, but no impact or heavy handling has happened since it came to our club. I can only think that it was a bi-product of a sudden stop and that the attach bolt has been to date, tight enough to mask it. Anyone else seen this before?
  5. Good luck Wigg, hope it comes up good...
