Here are some more pictures I have on the computer of Drifters, not mine, and I didn't take most of the photos so I hope no one gets mad if it is their pic!!!!

Yep I've seen that one at southport a lot. I believe it's in a syndicate.
-
Wow it actually looks more like it ''should'' - I always thought Jabs looked a bit disproportionate - but that was a good move giving more rudder and stability around the normal/vertical axis.

Was your instructors name Paul McKeown? And Darky - before you get an instructor rating, you should DEFINITELY learn to fly/get endorsed on a Drifter........my 2 cents

Original ''austflight'' Hangar/workshop Up For Sale Or Lease
XP503 replied to XP503's topic in Aviation Enthusiasts
Nah it's all good Michael, you're right though sometimes these forums are like chinese whispers hahaha! You're also very right in that it would be a great opportunity. Just to clarify though, the facility/hangar hasn't been aviation orientated for over ten years and the current owner has no knowledge of/ involvement with the airfield/committee. It was by chance that I found out he wanted to sell or lease, as he (Jim) hasn't put it on the market yet. -

Original ''austflight'' Hangar/workshop Up For Sale Or Lease
XP503 replied to XP503's topic in Aviation Enthusiasts
I the secretary of that management committee and assure you it has nothing to do with us. Private sale, in fact it's not even on the airfield land, a road seperates it from the runway. Google earth it. :-)) -
I think you need more flying experience before you should consider an FI rating. Sorry but that's my opinion.

That drifter is overpriced and has been used for training at sunbury for over ten years. It has wing tanks and a 618 which are both cause for trouble. MY ADVICE, get to know people and the scene BEFORE you buy. As many have said Wayne fisher is the guy to talk to but yea.....not much of a talker and VERY busy.

Hello fellow aviators. Anybody interested in purchasing a 600m2 hangar/workshop with office and upstairs living area adjacent to Boonah Airfield should contact JIM UPTON on 0418 692 004. It is the building where every ''factory built'' Austflight Drifter was made from scratch. Please contact Jim if you are interested, he is waiting for your call! David Mason

Skyfox1 our Maxairs are almost twins!!!!!!!!!!! And yes mine is a keeper too, I think they are the sweetest of the models to fly (that I have tried anyway)

I know of a Boonah instructor who ferried a Drifter to WA (in the 90's) so there might be at least one? LOL (Re: Stickers) The Boonah guy's name is Warwick and his number is 0412 11 53 77 - his email address is [email protected] he can make you up a pair in any colour etc.... I also got Polo shirts made up with the Drifter logo on them and a big Drifter logo on the back by http://aussieborn.com.au/ and they didn't cost too much. It would be great to see a Drifter support group started up, I am busy with heaps of things to do any organizing but I would happily join.

Guy in Boonah can do u a set for $60

I bought an xp503 drifter in June this year, they really are amazing aircraft. Don't know of any "group" but definitely a lot of fans at Boonah (they were all built there) and gympie (4 online at the schoolI think)
