They went out in Fairy Battles, Gannets and Lysanders, too and got shot to ribbons doing it for a country that forgot the lessons of preparedness learned in WWI. We also seem to have been undersold In our air defence During the last decade or two. I can remember when we had an aircraft carrier and aeroplanes to put on it! It's replacement (to come from Britain via a sweetheart deal between Margaret Thatcher and Malcom Fraser) did not eventuate. It was diverted to the Falklands conflict. The Melbourne sure had a sorry history. I get the feeling that Argentina is still plotting a way to get the Falklands so I hope Britain is prepared!
