All good.....yep can't get the map pin to land at the entry for some reason....

I've edited the pin to your driveway, they say it will be moved after review. Had the same issue at our place but eventually it changed.

If you read above the pin location has been changed.

It was showing like this for me from the start, although I've included the Archer Falls Airfield in the search.

Without it (just the address) it is showing on the driveway next to one of the buildings (but I haven't checked it before).

Thanks for the kinds words....but really everyone needs to know its folk like GoFly, Aero Flight and Pterodactyl who run flights all weekend cheaper than normal to make sure all new comers have a chance to discover the joy of flying that deserve accolades...

We need thank the Lions Club, the Rural Fire Brigade, St Johns, RFDS auxiliaries and a whole heap of individuals who come and get things organised, and all our local businesses who help us....it is getting a little bigger....

Thanks to all those who are helping, and hoping the rest of you come along to enjoy their efforts....

by the way, for the young ones Defence Force Recruiting team say they are coming, and also Senior Aviation Lecturer Ron Bishop CQU with a group of Bundaberg's aspiring aviators.....he's another mentor to the young ones, so energetic he already has plans to bring a heap of students to next years event....camping bookings are coming which is great.....

Again, thanks the kind words GoFly.....you don't take enough credit for your help....its people like you who give Edith and I the energy to burn the midnight oil...

No need to apologise....Ron rules the roost....this is just invisible fingers doing his bidding....Ha Ha....

Great to hope for the band....love your philosophy...

Did we let you know Defence Force Recruiting have confirmed coming along, as has CQU Bundaberg senior aviation lecturer Ron Bishop with a small group of students for this year, with view to bringing the entire aviation faculty next year....he's another fantastic mentor of youth like yourself...and has some really interesting tales of times in USA airforce, I understand he was awarded not one, but two presidential awards by George Bush, in defence aviation. So our goal to engage youth continues to grow...we have also issued invitation to Aviation High to consider partnering the event, so even though they may all send just a few this year we are working towards clearing the land over the creek to create space to add a youth camp for all training and education for next year's event.....

If we can get this happening, build the creek bridge and get them all involved, then I guess we will also need look at adding workshops to the event.....mind you, if these groups all join in perhaps we can extend with the youth event leading to the open event....just ideas putting out there for now....since the date now takes place at the end of school and uni vacations it does rather lend itself though...so much for a quiet life and Ron's retirement...

BTW, already have a father and son from Warwick booking to camp, and I know Zach intends to fly with you again this year.....

For other forum members, please let us know if you are looking to prebook, especially groups and aircraft, so we can get a better idea of layout....saves a little on the day to have ideas on who is coming...but of course last minute deciders are still welcome...

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi folks, wow the response to the event is growing...we better give an update, and let everyone know what has been added to the event...

Aviation High School Brisbane has just come on board, with a group of students and staff coming along both days, and it seems their team is keen to help us airside, for which we are most appreciative.

We've also now partners with Woodford, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers, their leaders and families, who will be looking after the entry gates and carpark, and you will see their display selling our raffle tickets for the weekend - thanks to these groups. Not only is it great to have their help on the gates - they will be 'earning' a reward for their help as they save for their 'Cuboree' - the annual Cub camp coming up, we hope everyone supports their groups. With 5 entry gates, and last year 1,000 visitors over the weekend they will be kept busy.

We can also thank the Lions, now with both Woodford and Kilcoy clubs combining to keep the BBQs going, thanks Bundaberg RFDS Auxiliary who have a convoy arriving to look after the coffee shop, that's a huge commitment for which we are most thankful, and of course Ron Bishop, Senior Lecturer Aviation CQU Bundaberg who is organising a group of students to come down, the Australian Women's Pilot Association who are taking part also, and still more confirmations to come. They say many hands make light work, and we thank everyone who has offered to help, and look forward to everyone having a great time, and achieving the fundraising goal for RFDS. We've also made a commitment to donate funds to each service organisation from the weekend, so we hope you will all come along, this will help support all the groups and we can all have a great time.

For those wanting to chill out and relax in the afternoons, Woongooroo Estate Winery has joined in with wine tastings both afternoons, and of course the licensed bar will open about 3pm for those who are staying on...

Did we mention that while there is an entry ticket price to encourage pilots to join in and provide an aircraft display for our visitors, you each receive FREE entry for the pilot to the event and camping, with only passengers to require tickets. And please remember we have a Show'n'Shine for aircraft, classic and unique cars and bikes, with prizes in various categories...

the prize list is growing with almost $1,000 in total value now...thanks to even more sponsors coming on board...

So if you haven't already planned to come, please join us in creating an impressive line up of aircraft for all our visitors to enjoy, the young, the aviators in training, and the folk who have only dreamed of seeing aircraft up close. For unique displays Werner's DC3 converted 'airbus' is coming along, and it seems an original operational WWII Bren Gun Carrier all the way from Rockhampton thanks to Central QLD Light Horse.

We'll keep you posted as more displays are confirmed, you are welcome to come along, though if you are bringing aircraft in a group perhaps drop us a line...we have set aside a few acres of aircraft parking/display along the cross strip, with easy access to the main runway, adjacent to the spectator viewing area, and with so many indicating they will be coming we are currently erecting a fence to separate aircraft from the general area. Marshall team will greet aircraft on landing and guide you to parking/camping. Please let them know on landing if you are planning to fly out same day so you can be guided to the day parking area, and we can set the site to suit all.

If you are looking or want to give others information you can also check the event name on facebook, we've had to join the 21st century and put the information on it now (all our young folk use this it seems)

Okay, that's enough to take in, better get back to site preparation....looking to be another beautiful day outside...

See you soon, be sure to say hi...

oops forgot to let you all know....there's also a facebook page on the event (just last week for the younger ones) but thanks to young Michael Wright there's an album of more than 600 snaps from the 2012 event if you want a look....though bearing in mind it will be different again this year....this year a bush style fly in without the airshow....though Paul Bennet did put on a fantastic show, and don't be worried about the horses in some snaps...it was part of an Australian Light Horse demonstration (they'll likely be back for next year)....this year the aircraft, classic and unique cars and bikes are the feature attractions....that and live music from 11am Saturday and again on Sunday...plus an outside radio broadcast with 101.5fm airside Saturday during the day...so its all about atmosphere, fun and flying....
