ayavner
Hi all, Just after a bit of local knowledge or experience from anyone who flies out of Forbes, or who may happen to be there on sunday and would like to meet up for a cuppa (is there a cafe there?) Big question I have also is whether vodafone has reception out there? I'll need to call my CFI to let him know i'm down safe. What can i expect that i might not find in the ERSA? thanks! Old Koreelah
I dropped in once due to a fuel issue. Small friendly Aero club has cuppa facilities. Give them a call. http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/forbes-soaring-and-aero-club-ltd/forbes
Bandit12
I suspect that their is patchy Vodafone reception - I drove through several months ago, and was most surprised about just how much coverage my Vodafone had. Perhaps the aeroclub has a phone you could use if the coverage is lacking? Alternatively make a call while airborne (if you are comfortable doing so).
ayavner
any weird wind issues to be aware of (like the hills at YWOL)?
Garfly
If you do go into town there's a good café in the McFeeters Motor Museum - well worth a visit anyway. In any case have a good flight. I look forward to reading about it on your morerightrudder blog

turboplanner
You're in wheat country out there and the huge silos are a big help with navigation.

ayavner
Well, try again next weekend. Severe turbulence forecast throughout the route, and winds gusting to 35kts at most the ADs on the way. No thanks!
shu77
Was heading to Bathurst and thought the same thing. 30+ degree forecast with smoke and wind, not a great day to be sitting in a light aircraft/
