Suitable firewall

You can't get Gal sheet anymore . It's zinc alume. Doesn't make much difference,  but you can't solder it. Stainless can be joined by braising with Nickel Bronze rod or welded with TIG and stainless rod.. It can be stamped or pressed into shapes. Fatigues worse than MS if it's structural and subject to vibration. , Nev

We used to call that tin; the solder would be gone in seconds and the gal sheet wouldn't take much longer.

After a morning coffee this week I came out to the carpark to see a Sprintcar frame sitting on a trailer; someone was about to start assembling his dreams.

Incorporated into the space frame was a steel firewall with the few necessary holes CNC cut so they could be accurately plugged. The frame design was such that it tapered behind where the big block 410 V8 mounts to the width required for the driver and seat, and tapered up from the engine bay as well, so it was quite small, minimising mass per square cm. No need to galvanise it because it spends its life under cover.

Be safe, have whatever systems you feel will give you confidence/reassurance (consistent with being able to leave the ground) but dont expect your emotive needs to make sense to others

Humans seem to be driven to make change/enhance, even when there is little or no demonstrable benefit. Example: Fire sleeves may look "cool" but if they are not correctly fitted (at the RAA end of the aircraft spectrum,  most are not) they serve little practical purpose, may give a false sense of security and reduce the pilot/maintainers ability to see a failing rubber hose.
