Seaplane crash in the Whitsundays - 30/11/2022 - 6 POB escape injury

Recommended Posts

Not much of the full story at the present, but reports are that a seaplane with 6 POB has crashed into the water in the Whitsundays - but all on board escaped injury. They freed themselves from the crashed aircraft and swam to shore.

It plummeted, they were forced to free themselves from a sinking aircraft and swim to safety and it was also a precautionary landing, no-one was injured and the aircraft as well as the airport sustained minor damage. What a

load of absolute sensationalist crap. Same BS headlines in the QLD murdoch press. Nine news shows a 20 second clip of what looks like a Beaver not sinking being towed by a boat.

You're right, I've never seen so much absolute sensationalist media BS around an aircraft incident story. The descriptions on various sites are, "plummeted", "plunged", "passengers had to free themselves from the sinking aircraft ...."

All that's missing, is "the pilot fought with the controls, while the passengers screamed in terror......."

The truth is revealed in the statement below, from a spokesperson on Hamilton Island ....

"A seaplane taking off from Hamilton Island Airport this afternoon experienced difficulties, resulting in a precautionary landing,' a Hamilton Island spokesperson said.

The six passengers on board, and the pilot, were not injured, and the aircraft sustained minor damage."

Kevin is right, there's a photo doing the rounds of a Beaver being towed away after the precautionary landing. Never let the truth ruin a good media beat-up!
