Lovely plane Roxy.

What's the carpet-like material on top of the instrument panel and on the seat front?

Cheers, Marty

Are you in Tasmania Marty? I am English but living in Poland. I had a 701 which I sold to a friend in Szczecin. It is and old one, built in'95 but was is a great aircraft and gave me much enjoyment.

3 years ago I built a Bristell NG5 which I flew first on my 72nd birthday. This aircraft is also giving me a lot of fun, "Boys Toys"

I worked in Oz for 4 years, near Perth and made some great friends there. One of them has a small farm in Tas and is a Radar technician working for BAE.

Anyway, good luck with your 701.

Regards, Michael

Hi Michael,

Yes, I'm in Tasmania, near Hobart.

Wow, the Bristell looks a lot more slippery than the 701!  Kind of like going from a 4WD to a sports car.

I had a brief trip to Poland about 12 years ago, it seemed like you had quite a large recreational flying sector there?

Cheers, Marty

I really enjoyed flying low and slow with the 701 but I wanted to go places before I was too old. This year has been great but my plan to fly to the UK was thwarted by an equipment failure 2 days before the flight. With the Bristell I can make the flight in one day but I normally fly to my friend in Germany, near Dortmund and then fly on to the UK next day.

Which part of Poland did you visit? I live about 100km north of Szczecin on the Baltic coast.

Hi Michael,

We were living in Ireland at the time and my wife's best friend had a Polish boyfriend.  (She's married him since, brought him to Australia and they're living in Adelaide).

So he was our guide - we spent most of it in Gdansk, Sopot and drove around some lakes and forests.  I remember a timber yard with an upside-down house, there was a memorial to people who were taken on the death trains, another memorial at the spot where Germany first invaded in WWII.

Sorry I can't remember any more of the names of places - there was somewhere on the coast with a massive pier, all I remember was the delicious food that was ridiculously cheap, and KFC which tasted like it used to in Australia 25 years ago...

Thanks Geoff.

Yes I found it on my plans too and started fabricating the upper part (that goes on top of the HT).  I found I had to make a little rib - like the front of the rudder root rib - to hold the shape of the piece where it goes under the rudder LE.
