  1. I don't know the details behind the incidents but my experience over 40 years is that many times when someone has asked me to jump in with them for a fly, a lack of currency is often very evident. I have experienced it myself. Ability and confidence can return quickly which would be how bfrs get signed off. I have never had an issue with an instructor and BFR reviews with GA or RAA. There have been a couple I did not think much of but that is just a numbers game. I think the busted nose wheels may be a combination of things, least of all specifically attributed to the instructor cohort. Not unreasonable that RAAus made the observation as a reminder and conversation point for us all to concider.
  2. RAAus hours count towards GA licence hours except if you do an integrated CPL course and seek the reduction in hours that way. There are multiple views on this so don't take no for an answer. Flight time in command counts regardless of what you are flying and should be logged in a pilot logbook. ATPL has different rules where there is a requirement for GA hours but I am not sure what the numbers are.
  3. Untold financial damage to many owners who were forced to park up aircraft or sell for peanuts. CASA was asked by industry not to mandate SIDS. All a little too late for many. Medical reform has been promised for years as well and they haven't been able to agree to move forward. Survey seems like nothing more than smoke and mirrors to me.
  4. PLEDGE TO FORCE A SWITCH TO US REGULATIONS IN RESPONSE TO GENERAL AVIATION 'MAYDAY' CALL 1 May 2022: Independent Senator Rex Patrick has today pledged to introduce a Bill into the 47th Parliament that would require the Civil Aviation Safety Authority to abandon its complicated, overly duplicated and burdensome home-grown General Aviation regulations and, instead, switch to US Federal Aviation Authority regulations.
  5. Must be conducting a buisness entiprise to qualify for an abn, employees do not comply with requirements to have one issued. That would exclude many recreational pilots I know.
  6. Here is the link. https://business.gov.au/grants-and-programs/automatic-dependent-surveillance-broadcast-rebate-program
  7. Reading the grant application which is now online it reads to me that if you are an individual with no abn you only qualify for half of the grant, so half of the 50% grant subsidy. It also appears the grant is up for consideration once the device is purchased and installed so wont help with upfront purchase costs.
  8. At your airfield. How much is a hangar block? What size blocks are available? How much are the rates? Are you obligated to hold your own insurance of any kind?
  9. How much do landing fee collection companies retun to the airport owner as a percent? Does anyone know?
