  1. A more recent image showing water encroachment around Wentworth aerodrome.
  2. Skippy, a stupid question, but how do you shield a switch in this application?
  3. Would a 1a push to talk switch be okay to run this setup? I really like it as a solution. The ptt style switch would be useful if I dropped the switch or preventing overfill fumbling with the off switch.
  4. The topic of refuelling comes up all the time at my club. It is clearly an issue for us. Something like this Rechargeable pump look okay but they are currently unavailable. Would love a trolley mounted solution so 20l drums could sit there being decanted as needed with the ability to restrict flow as the tank fills. In my experience there is no great method decanting fuel into wing tanks aircraft straight from the container. https://easyflo.com.au/rechargeable-battery-fuel-transfer-pump-with-non-spill-nozzle/
  5. The carby we need to rebuild does not have the original needle and seat, where would we get the original set up? Engine is a solid lifter 2200 2002 vintage.
  6. I would like to see the pictures. I would also think there is a benefit in the conversation that will accompany them.
  7. Looking for recommendations for someone to overhaul a jabiru 2200 carburettor. Alternatively someone who has a serviceable 2nd hand unit for sale.
  8. Thanks for responding to the question......hard to get a response on subject with this lot! A friend of mine made an incorrect position call going to a nearby airfield they had never flown to and was failed. They had to do the entire 90min check flight again.
  9. I don't have an instructor, I am asking a question based on others experiences. I am talking about the intital test/checkride for initial issue of a restricted RPC.
  10. What is generally involved in the checkride/flight test for the approval of the RAAus pilot cetificate?
  11. I am curious to know if a direct drive prop will increase rpm as it starts moving forward or if maximum rpm is achieved while the aircraft is chocked? I have never done a static full power run.
  12. I don't see outrage at your feedback, many members of this forum are also RAAus members so it is not unreasonable that RAAus could acknowledge concerns when they are raised here or any other forum. The problem is not your observations of the presentation, which at the end of the day are your opinions. The problem is many of your opinions are shared in vary degrees by those of us who fly, instruct or maintain as RAAus members and have long felt a disconnect between the organisation and our activities.
  13. I am glad the alternate view has been sent to RAAus. It is no suprise the content is endorsed. I thought it was the least irrelevant of the series, I watched all podcasts. I found that they were long, full of opinion, repetitive and in some spaces disconnected from the experiences of recreational pilots I know. I think safety month was a missed opportunity to connect with the members because I don't think they understand who many of their members are. Most members are responsible, safety concious and make smart choices often.

  17. How's the aircraft project tracking? Enjoyed reading the progress and musings along the way.
  18. I will come for a visit. Anywhere with no ASIC and yes to petrol is a candidate for me. Even better if there is budget accommodation and meals with coldie...yippee. Attractions within walking distance or the ability to get to them simply makes it a worthwhile stopover for a couple of days in my opinion!

  20. I don't know the details behind the incidents but my experience over 40 years is that many times when someone has asked me to jump in with them for a fly, a lack of currency is often very evident. I have experienced it myself. Ability and confidence can return quickly which would be how bfrs get signed off. I have never had an issue with an instructor and BFR reviews with GA or RAA. There have been a couple I did not think much of but that is just a numbers game. I think the busted nose wheels may be a combination of things, least of all specifically attributed to the instructor cohort. Not unreasonable that RAAus made the observation as a reminder and conversation point for us all to concider.
  21. RAAus hours count towards GA licence hours except if you do an integrated CPL course and seek the reduction in hours that way. There are multiple views on this so don't take no for an answer. Flight time in command counts regardless of what you are flying and should be logged in a pilot logbook. ATPL has different rules where there is a requirement for GA hours but I am not sure what the numbers are.
  22. Untold financial damage to many owners who were forced to park up aircraft or sell for peanuts. CASA was asked by industry not to mandate SIDS. All a little too late for many. Medical reform has been promised for years as well and they haven't been able to agree to move forward. Survey seems like nothing more than smoke and mirrors to me.
