  1. That'd be awesome, cheers :) Are there pockets inside as well or do you have to dig around all the time to find things? (having said that, I'd be too lazy to put things back in their pockets even if they were there, so it probably wouldn't make any difference)
  2. Shags, I see on your blog that you've flown a Jab, is the Jepp student bag small enough to easily shove into the baggage area behind the seats? Current plan is the Jepp student bag, seems a good size and I like how the zipper is on top, so you can leave it open and easily dig around inside with one hand if needed... And if I put it on my christmas list, I'll be putting the clear prop web address next to it, don't worry Ian
  3. It was indeed the sound of loose rivets. As the older NESers had been frozen at their keyboards and young Tomo had disappeared off on holidays to who-knows-where, Darky had been left in control of the Subrolla. Despite taking the precaution of putting L Plates on the outside of the Sub to warn all around about her driving, she had still managed to hit a couple of cargo freighters, narrowly miss the sunken wreckage of that plane that was ditched off Norfolk Island, and was currently scraping along the side of NZ which was causing rivets to shoot in all directions...
  4. Sorry guys, couldn't help it If anyone wants the attachment, PM me and I'll email it
  5. Hmmm, clearly I'm missing something then
  6. Right now most of my friends and family are swearing up and down that they'll come with me for a fly when I get my licence (and endorsement) but I'm just waiting to see how many actually want to come when the time comes...
  7. Will you consider $10,000? (of course, that would mean that I'd have no money left for lessons to get the licence to fly it...or any money to look after it, but oh well!)
  8. Just something I found during my wander around the internet and made me think “Few human activities are as intimate as the interaction between pilot and student, who sit crammed sweaty elbow to elbow, balanced in the swaying sky, seeking the best of each other”
  9. Oh drat, my expensive taste in cars seems to also apply to aeroplanes
  10. I knoooooooow, I kinda want one. Although gullwing doors seem less practical in a car, I always wonder about clearance issues in tight carparks... BTW, do you know how much a Lightwing Speed is?
  11. Come to my airport on your travels and 'brag' to me (i.e. take me for a free ride ) And you should have the picture, it is very cute (if nothing else, it'll get the girls coming for a ride!)
  12. That's because Tomo's on holiday Stanza
  13. I should've tried that line on my parents, too late now I hope you get it :)
  14. I think I got taken out for dinner when I did mine... I did get a car for my birthday in Feb the next year, but I'm not sure the $3000 they spent on that would've bought me much plane (perhaps an aileron?)
  15. What kind of plane is pic 32? (love the paint job and the doors )
  16. Has anyone used/seen/borrowed/*insert appropriate verb here* one of these as a flight bag (or at all?)? Crumpler - Barney Rustle Blanket It looks like a good size, not too bad but roomy enough for my LightSpeed headset etc. I've had a Crumpler bag for the last 4 years at uni, used it daily, and despite all the crap I put it though, it still looks like new so I know it's a good brand. But yeah, any opinions?
  17. That's some present!!
  18. Glad to hear it. Although, had you tried, I would've threatened to fly your Cheetah into the ground...I have a feeling that threat would make you reconsider somehow ;)
  19. Hey guys, Finally it's all confirmed (well, pretty much anyway) - I'm going to be in Canberra from 21st Feb - 12th March. So now it's time to plan my flying! (always the most important point) I'll have to send Teraya an email and see if I can work something out there...by the look of it on google maps, Goulburn has a sealed runway, so it should be a good experience :) Slarti, is your kind offer of a ride in the Cheetah still open? And when I've organised this important part of my trip, I should probably start looking into those other pesky things like accommodation
  20. Might be a good idea... Sorry if I missed a thread about this already
  21. Maybe I should just try and win lotto...anyone got any numbers they recommend?
  22. I do agree that hiring would be cheaper and owning is an expensive route and, yes, I definitely probably should be putting the money towards sensible things like a house If I looked at it logically, then I'd never want to own a plane. And when I can actually afford it, I'll probably do the sensible thing and put it towards a house or something. I think I just like the idea of owning a plane and I'm only thinking of the fun parts like flying it rather than the less fun parts like maintenance and cost
  23. Not to mention, when I get a plane it's going to have custom tail art, not sure how a flying school might feel about that...although, maybe it would increase their sales
  24. Thanks, I'll send you a PM now :) I have heard that it's possible to rent out the aircraft to a flying school to offset some costs...has anyone done this? If it could be organised, it could be a good way to offset some of the costs of ownership (of course, you'd need to hope that the flying school would want to do it!)
  25. aha, in the nicest possible way, that's not going to happen...I like have the cockpit sides around me, I think I'd be worried about 'shifting' too far and falling off the side! That's why I have a Top Hat - nice and roomy!
