  1. Or perhaps this one, which I admit I have on a t-shirt: FLYING Drugs would have been cheaper
  2. While I agree that a chinstrap would be useful (and sensible), it kind of ruins the "helmet? what helmet? this is my hat" thing they seem to be going for...
  3. Thanks for that Wags, it's really helpful :) I'm actually kind of glad that other people have had the same problem I'll give him a call tomorrow and if he's there, I'll drive it over so he can take a look.
  4. Yeah there's usually a noise turning them on and off, but this noise is definitely different (and new). It's loud, kind of like a crackle or a crunch...loud enough that I could hear it about 30cm-1m away. Plus the earcups vibrate (not just a little either), so I'm thinking there's an issue. I'm thinking of going to the 'authorised service' place in Moorabbin tomorrow, might help to get someone who actually knows what they're doing to have a listen... Considering I've only used them about 6 times, I'm not too pleased
  5. Just remember... Fly responsibly! No drinking within 50ft of the aeroplane and no smoking 8 hours before your flight! Or am I a little confused?
  6. I see that young Tomo is having a birthday today (is it perhaps the big 1-8?) so HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMO!
  7. I'm not sure if this thread should be here or in Avionics or something so you're welcome to move it wherever... My lovely new LightSpeed Zulu headset appears to be developing a problem When I turn the ANR on there is a noise as it is turning on but it's been doing that since I got them so I assume that's normal for ANR. The problem is when I turn the ANR off. There is a loud noise and the earcups actually vibrate a bit. It's only just recently started doing it so I know this isn't normal. The noise is quite loud, I turned it on and off without the headset on my head and I could hear the noise with the headset sitting on the table next to me (so nowhere near my ears). I've tried changing the batteries to see if that helped but no difference. I'm not really sure how to describe the noise except that it's low pitched and sounds like...I don't know..something coming to a stop? (like when you stop a fan). It's hard to describe. Anyway, has anyone else had this problem? I'm guessing I should take it to the LightSpeed repair place at Moorabbin on Monday or something. Not happy
  8. I spent 6 months studying in Swansea last year...it was nice but I wouldn't want to live there permanently to be honest :)
  9. Except for the times when I run off with my Mum's car...
  10. Not by me. The Surface-to-Air missile is in the shop for repairs you see...
  11. I'm a bit too old for young Tomo methinks...
  12. Well if they don't then they're just crazy
  13. A lanky 6' tall pilot, you must have the girls simply chasing after you! ;)
  14. I think the only benefit of being short is that I find the Jab quite roomy  However, actually reaching the pedals/controls poses another challenge...
  15. I fly in Converse, nice flat soles, thin enough to feel the pedals, and the white toes let me easily see what my feet are doing
  16. Where in Wales?
  17. Really? Well that sounds better then, I admit I've only seen videos of it so I'm hardly an expert. I like the sensor thing too, I bet there would be lots of people poking the 'strange machine' in the woolies carpark... I have to admit I'm tempted one day to tow a Jab to Coles, park it very neatly in a space, then hide and watch people's reactions
  18. Yes but, as with anything really, there are always people who don't follow the regulations... Have you seen the video/picture of the inside? There's normal car controls then also normal flight controls..it looks rather confusing/messy and I think I'd be worried about pushing the wrong control at the wrong time...when you're about to have a road accident, pushing left rudder isn't going to help methinks...
  19. I can see a lot of potential for abuse of those i_dunno
  20. Doesn't get as many points for innovation and effort though
  21. I didn't go quite that far....I  my Jab
  22. Do note that I was casting aspersions on the strength of the Drifter after 'ways and means' had been used to make it faster....
