  1. Thanks you for your reply and yes it is a 600kg design but was registered at 544kg. Thought it was going to get a bit messy [replacing number decals etc ]but seems like it should go thru without to much hassle Cheers

  6. 10,000 rivet holes need to be de-burred plus all the edges , then corrosion treatment /priming/painting which was about 70% of my construction time. The fun part is researching and putting it all together.I looked at Partial kits but decided against it as I wanted total control of corrosion proofing . Cheers

  8. ABC reporting pilot having to do an emergency landing due to aircraft running out of fuel.
  9. What has all that to do with the question of brand /type of rivet used, or are you saying it matters not on the type of rivets in the construction process due to the forces en-counted
  10. There appears to be a large fuselage side sheet that has all the rivets sheared rather then the sheet torn. Anyone know what brand / type of rivets used or recommended by Morgan?
  11. Of 6,000 601xl's sold and 3,000 flying, five world wide crashed. All accidents are usually of more than one cause. Poor building, poor maintenance and poor flying are a deadly combo. After enjoying a lot of good publicity the model took a hit. Anti-Zenith Bloggers got real aggressive and the fence sitters got of the fence in the other direction. Zenith themselves did not management damage very well either. Note that there have been no accident events of that type with this model since the B upgrade was introduced.
  12. Shows your lack of knowledge of the 601xlB [ That's a B model] The most tested aircraft and now one of the most robust.
  13. Have a look at the Zenith 601xlB very similar numbers to the Brumby , 1/4 the cost
  14. THE TAX SYSTEM EXPLAINED IN BEER. When pondering the question of mining super taxes and the structure of our tax system in general please refer to this explanation using the language of Beer!! Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this; The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1 The sixth would pay $3 The seventh would pay $7 The eighth would pay $12 The ninth would pay $18 The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59 So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20". Drinks for the ten men would now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share? They realised that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by a higher percentage the poorer he was, to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using, and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay. And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% saving). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% saving). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% saving). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% saving). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% saving). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% saving). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out of the $20 saving," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar too. It's unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!" "That's true!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back, when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison, "we didn't get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how our tax system works. The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D. Professor of Economics. For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.
  15. Lubricating cables can lead to unwanted contamination adhering to the cable, thus increasing the rate of wear between the strands and around pulleys.SS cables are best left alone as the surface requires O2 to be in contact to maintain a thin chromium oxide film for protection.[ you can Google under Tea Staining of SS for further info]

  21. The world’s last operational F-111C bomber will be transported by road this weekend from Amberley in Queensland to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) at Illawarra Regional Airport, near Wollongong. Designated A8-109, the aircraft will depart Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Amberley at 2:00am on Saturday, 6 April. It is scheduled to arrive at HARS by approximately 7:00am on Monday, 8 April. The convoy will travel more than1100km over three days, stopping through regional NSW at towns including Goondiwindi, Narrabri, Gunnedah, Muswellbrook and Beresfield, as well as the Sydney suburb of Ingleburn. (See full list of timings below.) A8-109 is ex-United States Air Force and saw combat in Vietnam. The aircraft was purchased by RAAF in 1982. With its engines shutdown for the final time on 3 December 2010, following a flying display at the F-111 retirement ceremony, A8-109 became the world's last operational F-111. The F-111 will have had its wings and tail control surfaces removed to enable safe transit. The aircraft will be reassembled with the assistance of F-111 disposal team members. Reassembly involves reattaching the wings, tail fin and horizontal stabilators and final preparations for public display. Media Notes: There will be a 30 minute stop at each location for vision and interview opportunities. An image of the aircraft is available here: http://images.defence.gov.au/20101203raaf8202385_0023.jpg
