  1. Actually Dazza you are spot on, the C172 from the Hastings District Aeroclub had an engine OC, so you are right, a timex engine OC worth bugger all, but still people do buy them! http://classifieds.aviationadvertiser.com.au/detail.php?id=2564
  2. and it has a Wizard wing from memory... What's Mast replacement cost and how much is an overhaul on a 503 worth these days?
  3. What about a 1999 Airborne Edge X, with a 503, trike and engine have both done 325 hours.
  4. I'm going to have to give Len a call, very keen to get my bum in a Trike! Looks like a ball!
  5. To me it's a very sloppy report, but the issues raised about the Sierra, are they items sanctioned by Morgan or the builder taking liberties? Who built that particular aeroplane? I'm interested in the opinions (educated) of the Sierra...
  6. https://support.cessna.com/custsupt/contacts/pubs/ourpdf.pdf?as_id=37395 Content below from someone I guess would be considered an authority on the subject, this is what I got when I asked about it. "Very corrosive environment I would be careful. Do you know if it has factory corrosion proofing? (Dark green primer on all skins) If its an original airframe and has average care it could turn out to be expensive. Look at the pictures here and that's what I would expect to see in such a machine ... http://www.flyingfighters.com.au/index.php/cessnasids I bet the owner of that 172 thought it to was a bargain! I have no affiliation with Flying fighters, just using the pictures as a reference. Is the owner prepared to allow you to remove all of the panels and take a good look? The wingtips need to be removed to see down the leading edge."
  7. It's a C150 not a C650, shouldn't be too "astanomical"...??? I can't find it right now but I did see a link to one of the local outfits that pulled a C172 apart for a bloke that had picked up a "bargain", wasn't totally a bargain in the end.
  8. Any chance of a PM on cost, also will the new powerplant be able to be retrofitted to current Sierra airframes?
  9. I think until the SIDS comes up it will be a cheap aeroplane, I have no idea what the cost will be of carrying out the inspection on the 100 series, sadly nor do most of the maintenance organisations, when I spoke to them about it they all said the same thing "sure, buy it then fly it, when sids comes up, bin it"... 14,000 hrs and living in Cairns, sea air and humidity etc certainly wouldn't be doing it much good but hey. It sold, someone is gonna be having a ball in it for a while anyway :-)
  10. Anyone know the latest with the mob at Somersby? Drove past the other day and noticed the Chopper dropping meatbombs...
  11. Anyone know if he will be in Sydney at all??
  12. Ok, how much and what's the go?? I need something to build!
  13. Thanks mate, should read more stuff on here hey lol
  14. Hi guys, Just wanted to check if the ability to log in using my facebook account has been removed or am I losing my marbles??
  15. Great story and shot's Rob, did you land at Bathurst? Wonder who's Lear that was...?
  16. Congrats Ian, is this the one located out Narromine way?
  17. Somehow Ian you always manage to improve on perfection!
  18. Glad to hear the end result went your way mate, what's more interesting is that we shared the same Instructor, Frances sent me solo on my 16th Birthday in 1999!!!! I wonder where she is and what she is doing now, she was great! Here she is... explains why I always felt cool, calm and collected when flying with her. http://francesdalton.com.au/about.html
  19. I think Wade Mahlo at Wade Air in Orange has the rights to them from memory? Perhaps a syndicate could be formed to buy the rights etc and put it back into production?
  20. G'day Ian, Just a question/suggestion. In relation to the classifieds, could you group them, one folder for Aircraft, sub folders possibly so they can be seperated, I don't know what sub folders, maybe microlights as one and ultralights as another, LSA's etc etc? And then also a folder within classifieds for Accessories, could house, the various engines, props, instruments, pilot requirements?
  21. You may be right, for some reason I recall hearing he owned it, funny I always thought he was related to Graham OnUs, different spelling though :-)
  22. Pretty sure Wilton was owned by Phil Onis? Ozzie when were you actively jumping down there? Were you there in the days of C207 VH FIF and BN-2A VH RTV?
  23. Turbo yeah I think he had something like that level of experience, was actually the AOPA President (might have just vacated the position?). A mate used to tell me about the time he had both props stop on a BN-2A Islander at 800 feet climbing out of Wilton in the early 80's, normally full of jumpers I think it had just come out of maintenance and it was the first flight of the day so fortunately they were empty, descending 180 degree turn and safely back on the strip, guess it's a matter of height = options??
