  1. Hi Guys, Many of you have really hit the nail on the head and unlike the NSW vs. QLD debate THIS issue could really go either way, with so many valid points for and against. In my mind one of the guys previously did say it best when he said that he felt everything other than Professional Flying was "Recreational Flying" (with a professional approach!). I think this sums up my feelings, and I think it's great that while we are essentially flying for fun that we do always keep a professional approach to it. Blue skies!
  2. Hi rgmwa, is that an Aerobat in your avatar? if so what is the Rego? Not VH UGG by any chance?
    1. rgmwa

      rgmwa

Hi CD. Not UGG, but close. It's UWC. One of the fleet of RACWA (Perth) Aerobats used for initial training. rgmwa
  3. Any updates on the availability of plans?
  4. Hi '46, have you tried Nick Challinor at Mothcair in Murwillumbah, NSW? He may have what you're after, if not probably can find it, have his number somewhere but if you google it he should come up, good luck!
  5. Just wondering if anyone can provide a figure as asked, in dollar terms what would you be looking at per hour? $20, $30, $40 or more? Ignoring finance but say include insurance, no worried about Hangarage as that is changes all too much. Cheers!
  6. Nice work HH!!! Do you know "grumpy" by any chance???
  7. G'Day Greg, What a bloody shame, I was in Brisbane on Monday and Tuesday! Definitely keen to go for a run in one though! I may be in Brisbane around Feb so if nothing happens prior I'll be in touch!
  8. Hey guys they sound like some great stories, love em, keep em coming!
  9. Hi guys, I thought it would be interesting to know the furthest/most adventurous flights you've done? Possibly list by departure point/place, stops/final destination, time taken and aircraft type, cheers!
  10. Hi Greg, I've been trying to decide on what to buy, I've gone up from Thruster/X-Air and looked t Morgan Cheetah/Sierra and also considering the Swift and or Nynja, I particularly like the panel on VH-ELJ, what instrumentation did you put in and is that carbon dash layout standard or an option?
  11. Hi Spriteah I am looking at what to buy, looking at X-Air Std for an entry level buy, through to Jab LSA/X-Air Hanuman mid level and Morgan Sierra at the high end, I like the look of the Hanuman, did you build it yourself or you buy second hand? If you did build it what was the build like? How does it fly and what are some rough costs in terms of build and operating?
  12. Hi, probably not the right area for it but is there any way we could index the incidents and accidents by aircraft type? Would just be interesting as I am looking at buying my first a/c and speaking to different people (pilots, L2's, lamey's) I get different responses but am hearing some peculiar things about specific aircraft, I'm looking to see if there are any trends or anything about specific types etc, anyway I realise this post is in the wrong location but just thought I'd bring it up, cheers!
  13. Hi Conran, it's nearly a year since the last post here, how is your build going? Did you end up putting the Rotax in?? How did it go?
  14. Hi Mate, I called in and saw Rod at YKAT today, it's been a few years and he didn't quite recognise me, are you still flying? Should try to organise maybe a chat over coffee or something as I am up that way for work a bit now, cheers!

Gday Diamond..I have only just received your message, although you posted it in OCTOBER ! Yes I,m flying out of Bathurst these days. Rod dosent have an aeroplane at the moment and I have a very good choice to choose from out there. I,d like to catch up with you one weekend. Where are you working ? I can drive out to YKAT from home.
  15. Guys just wanted to bump this up, still not doing a lot of flying but what is the status at YKAT now?
  16. Mate I'm in the same boat (ex GA though) and thinking of selling my Jetski to fund X-Air purchase. Also quite interested in the costs...
  17. So what are the numbers like if I want to buy something like an X-Air? Purchase price approx $24K????
  18. Hi Guys, I think I have narrowed my dream machine down to the X-Air Hanuman, chances are I'll end up having to settle for the X-Air standard (would love one! lol). Anyone want to trade for a 300HP Jetski that does 80MPH? What is the lifespan of the skins on these? Also what is the maint sched like? What are op costs on the td and hanuman? Thanks.
  19. Hi Guys, Thinking of looking at buying myself an X-Air, not after copious amounts of speed, something reasonably comfortable and safe, to use between places like Sydney - Taree or Sydney - Orange. X-Air seems to be fitting my needs. Was in the process of planning a trip to Taree in a PA28 today and noted the TAF has MOD TURB for this afternoon, how would someone flying an X-Air to Taree today go? Is something like MOD TURB the sort of thing that gets you reconsidering your need to go??? Also if anyone knows of any X-Air's for sale please let me know, have seen the one in the RAA mag, thanks guys.
  20. Hi Tomo, You're sort of there, I was primarily referring to Trikes however you do raise a good point, it is cheaper to fly Jabs etc than trikes, WHY????
  21. Hi Mac, So the $15-20K Edge's etc I see on here and eBay and the RAA for sale, how would they go cost wise per hr if I was to buy one?
  22. Hi CFI, Well I am somewhat interested in why "minimalist" style of flying cost's roughly the same as ordinary GA from which I am coming, if I decided to do my certificate etc and purchase a trike what would I be looking at to fly it on an hourly basis? My concern is that the cost is not much different to normal GA aircraft, which is why I'm getting out of GA flying, I was under the impression anything less than GA was mch more affordable, am I reading it wrong? Also, where I fly currently has enthusiastic, eager and experienced guys keen to indulge in big adventures, extremely experienced instructors, great facilities etc so I don't get why a machine that cost's so much less cost's the same to learn in...
  23. You're all too funny guys! LOL I'm quite intrigued by it, don't mind the slower speeds and happy to learn till I'm comfortable in them but don't understand why they're nearly as much as much older/much more complex GA style a/c like C150's etc...
  24. Hey guys, Been looking at alternative ways to get in the air a bit cheaper than the old Warriors etc which are now renting for the $200 plus mark. Love the idea of Microlights but can't understand why most places charge at least $190 an hour dual for them, surely they aren't the expensive to run??????
