  1. if you are paying for the same maintenance as a VH reg what advantage is there in going RAA?
  2. I don't think you can squeeze a 915iS into a Kitfox 4, he's stuck with an 912s
  3. Why do you need 760KG if you are training?
  4. A few videos prior he had a prop strike, which he believes is part of the reason the rod broke. The way he has set his plane up with those big draggy tyres and the STOL wing he needs a 914 at least.
  5. at the end he's realizing that the only way he can keep flying is with another used engine
  6. my mistake, I thought Jabiru where still selling certified aircraft
  7. So will Jabiru have to recertify the 430 as a 2 seater?
  8. I'm confused here, no existing LSAs, built under ATSM rules, can't be registered as 760Kg because the LSA rule is capped at 600Kg. Does that mean CASA need to modify LSA rules to support 760Kgs?
  9. call the authorities and walk away, don't make other people's problems yours
  10. that's a bit harsh, emergency services instructing you to perform CPR and RAA CEO saying wait.
  11. part 103 is such an open category, i was thinking he had over engineered it
  12. You would think that's the CASA roadblock, restrict the number of aircraft flying by restricting the numbers of mechanics allowed to work on them...
  13. plenty of stuff on gumtree, its a buyers market these days https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-miscellaneous-goods/aircraft/k0c18319?price=3000.00__&price=3000.00__
  14. This has to be some sort of hoax, a carbon fibre blade will cut through claws like a hot knife through butter
  15. other way, gone from 1000 to 100 but on the NBN my ADSL2 rated at 24Mbit was only getting 5Mbit and now on the 12Mbit which is good for 11Mbit
  16. they couldn't advertise it as unlimited so they came up with 1000G familiarise yourself with Parkinson's law https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkinson's_law and the law of triviality https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_triviality The RAA is just replicating CASA, which probably pleases CASA more than the members.
  17. the NBN does replace a lot of older comms technology, I now pay $40 a month for 100G versus $40 for 1000G but the speed is much faster
  18. revenue goes up $10 a year, expenses will go up $11. The RAA is committed to growth.
  19. hmmm sounds like brexit is going to turn the UK into a European version of Cuba, whenever the EU want something they can just apply trade restriction...
  20. first few pulls on a 503 engine is just to get fuel into the bowls, on my 503s they have a manual primer that pumps fuel directly into the carb. probably need to buy an electric fuel pump for redundancy and easier starting
  21. O-320s where a lot more common back in the day, they would all be starting to get long in the tooth and expensive now though
