  1. Plane hits hangar east of Perth Published: 3:07 pm, Friday, 5 September 2014 WESTERN AUSTRALIA 4:30pm September 5, 2014 Pilot crash lands, gets wedged between two hangars The small aircraft is a Mooney M20J. 9NEWS 2 0 2 The female pilot of a light plane that crashed into two hangars east of Perth has walked away with only minor injuries. The small aircraft, a Mooney M20J, hit the Northam Airport hangars mid-morning today and leaked fuel. Parts of the airport have been evacuated and the airspace around it has been restricted due to the spilled fuel. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said the collision occurred during the initial climb after a touch-and-go landing. The light plane became wedged between two hangars. Police said it appeared the 27-year-old pilot started having trouble controlling the aircraft, which left the runway and became wedged between two hangars. The pilot, who was the only person on board, was taken to Northam Hospital as a precaution. Leaked fuel has sparked safety concerns. Emergency services will allow workers to return to the hangars once the area is declared safe. The ATSB said it had launched an investigation into the accident, with a report expected to be released in several months. Witnesses are asked to contact the ATSB on 1800 020 616. The collision occurred after a troubled take-off. Additional reporting by AAP. © AAP 2014 WESTERN AUSTRALIA ACCIDENTS Email your news tips Do you have any news photos or videos? 2. Dunno about an ignore button but we sure could use a W----r button.
  3. Fit a carby temp gauge, then it's just a matter of scanning every few minutes along with all the other gauges. Makes for interesting viewing.
  4. Thanks Darren and team. Any news of what was reported to have been seen falling off the aircraft?
  5. Sorry but I believe if someone doesn't know which way a thread works they probably shouldn't be building an aircraft. Not without help anyway.
  6. Yep thats fine. We all buy factory built. So what about people building their own but follow the instructions and don't change the plans to suit what they think is better?
  7. So Dafydd, What is your point? I guess Im a hillbilly, maybe a Iggernut. At the most just a pleb.
  8. Nice one Rzaff, what happened to the donk sitting on the crate next to the bike?
  9. Sure thing David, just worries me what grief we are all going to be put through by the people who won't.
  10. I don't get it, unfortunately a guy dies, fortunately no bystanders were. Now some people have to find someone else to blame and we all need more training. I would think everyone with a licence/certificate knows the rules. Why can't we learn from the unfortunate experience, have a good think about it and move on.
  11. Maybe we should be going after the deceased pilots family, they had a duty of care. Maybe they should have done something? I'm sure they haven't been through enough grief yet so why don't we fry them first. Then we can all go home to sleep and all feel really happy with ourselves.
  12. Yep, lets all look for someone to blame, instead of making people responsible for their own actions.
  13. Na sorry can't say I've done that, hopefully never will. Had a few good ones on bikes though but that another story. I hope you can work through it. Really hope they can find out the cause of accident that started this thread. My condolences to the family and friends involved.
  14. Avocet, it's unfortunate you are feeling that way. I find I'm more worried driving the 35 mins each way to work each day than any time flying the Cougar. Or any aircraft for that matter.
  15. Do you run avgas or ulp?
  16. Wheres your preferred destination? North, East, or South of Perth. I may be able to help.
  17. According to the pre-flight check list we are meant to carry a hard copy of current weather and notams on board.
  18. When scrolling through the threads on your ipad be careful where you touch the screen as you can end up giving likes, optimistics, etc in really weird spots as i've just noticed when checking my profile page.
  19. Thoroughly recommend the Bunbury aero club. Where some other schools made a simple conversion difficult, they made flying enjoyable again.
  20. Or a nice big swag so you and a close friend can get out and do some flying / travelling instead of sitting on the computer and talking about it.
  21. Same shite over and over again, no wonder Ian's out
  22. Yep real happy with my cougar mark 1.
  23. Hey ducksrus - did you get a reminder in the mail that your rego is overdue like I did? Classic!!!
