  1. Had a great day starting with a morning fly in the nieuport ,followed by an afternoon of lightwing fun. Lightwing vid yet to edited
  2. Not good! Condolences to the family .
  3. What the Fokker ! :no no no:In 2 years time I will have accumulated enough kills to be an ACE, you may out perform and out gun me but all them kill stickers I will stick on will surley make me a formidable opponent? Ahh who am I kidding:surrender:
  4. Why is there 2 threads on this subject? 1 . Debunking lift theories is still taught 2. Bernouli's irrelevant They need amalgamating! Just saying!
  5. Yeh I know ! Bit slack ,I'll do my upmost to get another chapter snippet posted soon.
  6. Just turn your head skyward at Sherlock and you just might see me shooting down invisible fokkers in my nieuport 11 c1.
  7. Oh yeh the trouble with the iPad Air is taking it anywhere! It's maybe thin but it's still big, I have it in a leather case with handles( my wife calls it my hand bag) so I stuck some flying stickers on it to make it more manly?
  8. I use the iPad Air ,dash mounted in both lightwing and nieuport.. I wanted to get an android but at the time the android tech still hadn't,t started on the conversion for oz runways.... the iPad Air is slowly growing on me,I found it a little big in the beginning but now prefer the bigger screen and full display. But the price of apple products puts a bad taste in my mouth! Go android .. Competition = $$$$ saved .. Well most of the time?
  9. Damn you busted me , I'm really a robot ! You can tell by my spelling and grammer mistakes. But please don't tell anyone! I'm slowly being re-programmed to compute the English language to standard lol I always believed lift comes from AOA for the most part and speed and stall from wing camber? A big airfoil gets you slow top speed and slow stall speed. A thin airfoil gets you greater top speed but a higher stall speed. . Having flown single surface wings I come to the conclusion the speed/stall/airfoil has something to do with the air going over the top, And the bottom ( what ever the shape) for lift, so bottom/ underside of wing = lift And top/upside for stall and speed.. Just my theory. And I'm not committed to it!
  10. LW-1 582 c box bolly 2 blade 68" 70 kts @ 5400. 2 blade gets me better performance than the old 3 blade but 3 blades are smoother.
  11. Yeh basically an extra $1500 for a new one and you get every thing,!
  12. My 503 they ( Wal-aka-mark) rebuilt to 0hrs ( arrived back today) $4371.40.(300 for shipping-150 each way) so rebuild $4071.40c. ( electrics not included in rebuild )
  13. And rebuild back to 0 hrs is $5000
  14. I just bought a new 582 from bert flood all up INCLUDING GST and freight $ 6800
  15. It's a weird one that's for sure His dad was never upset! Kind of happy at the prospect of his son,s fantacy becoming reality.. The pilot was obsessed with E.T life and longed to be taken by them... IMO. I think he wanted it that bad that he perceived some form of light as a UFO becoming distracted and lost control.. Suicide also gets thrown around considering he told his girl friend ( and others) a bs flight plan objective! Who knows? I wonder if he forgot his foil helmet? That would leave the aliens open to control his brain would it not? Lol
  16. H Here ya go Doug - his name is Geoff . Really friendly fellow . Used to have a flying school at either goolwa or gawler?
  17. LOOK WHAT I FOUND! Only 19 nm from home I found a nice strip and sitting along side some sheds I spotted this. A person was waiving so I landed.. Turns out the owner/ pilot/ restorer. Started his flying carrer in lightwing NUMBER 2. He now has 2 Cessna 3?? Twin boom engine at front and back... Yacked for an hr and have been invited back to show off my nieuport
  18. I When I get a chance I will upload the video.. He is louder than the engine!
  19. Done a small nav with my 7 yo son Seth. He has been asking non stop to go flying but held off untill the new 582 was run in and tested. With 6.8 hrs done I took him for a fly. His first request " dad can I pretend we got blown up by an airship and we're crashing?" ( he LOVES LOVES LOVES the intercom!lol) so with an ear full of explosion noises and screaming I headed over to his school , then out to lake alexandriena , Brooklands park, then back home. It was his first full hr . The only ear rest I got was when other radio calls over powered his singing ! Gotta love him.. He gave it a big thumbs up. :)
  20. I I believe the one on the cover is the unique built supercat. ( the only one this size)It's bigger and very stable and has a nice smoke system.
  21. Just my opinion and all that I have spoken too that has flown one! Avoid! The original design is very short coupled with an inadiquit tail plane( too small) It has been taken over by 3 people each re designing it. I was in contact with the current owner of plans and he redesigned with longer fuse and larger tail plane which apparently made the plane more stable? Mine was original and a hand full on the calmest smoothest days... It was very unstable! A cfi once told me he had to ferry a supercat only 30 nm ,but he ended up turning 180 and landing , stating he'd never fly another supercat .. I named mine happily " supercrap".. IMO. Stay well away and I could also throw in all the fatalities( 1 of which was not structural).. 1 fatality was the 2nd owner of plans and redesigner. The left wing failed ! The only good thing about my experience was "THE EXPERIENCE ". Fly that contraption well, and you'll fly anything well! The nieuport is a puppy in comparison Here's a vid of the pitch and slip/ skid issues more so on final ,keeping in mind it was a very smooth calm day . Hope this helps and is my opinion only. I know it's a very late reply!lol. But it may help others thinking along theses lines?
  22. I travelled to benalla vic" falcon hawk flying school" ,training is in a thruster @ $150hr from take off to landing. ( Free caravan accommodation .)Or much cheaper in own certified trainer.Best value... But better lube up the knee joints cause you are going to be pedaling. 5 - 6 hr drive from murray bridge. Hope this helps
